I Am Loving the Laila Ali Line of Styling Tools

Hair is a serious matter. And it really doesn’t even matter what your hair texture is. Chances are if you are a gal, you have invested some time and money into hair care products, services and treatments. I am no exception. While on a limited budget, I try very hard to pick products and tools that are fitting to my hair type and my routine. Luckily, the very talented and amazing Laila Ali has made my hair routine 1,000 times easier.

The Laila Ali line

A few months ago I was sent some very cool products from Helen Troy’s Laila Ali line. Can you say perfect timing? I feel like when the summer rolls around, I am in need of new hair care goodies. And talk about a surprise! I had no idea that Laila Ali partnered with Helen of Troy to give us those serious about good hair care tools some cool things. It’s no surprise, though. I wish I could wake up and have hair (and skills) like Laila Ali. Getting the chance to test drive the Sonic Styler Dryer and the Ceramic Curl Stick.

All reasonably priced at under under $30 for each tool, I found these to work exceptionally well on my relaxed and color treated hair. I don’t like to use heat on my hair every day, but when I do I want to use products that maintain the health and integrity of my hair. The Laila Ali line has been wonderful! First, let’s chat about the Sonic Styler Dryer.

Sonic Styler Dryer

Blow dryers have always freaked me out a little bit. Nothing says “HAIR DAMAGE” more than a blast of hot hair on your tresses. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this dryer didn’t dry my hair out like many dryers do. The setting not only has 3 heat settings but they are also giving us a cool temperature setting which is fantastic for blow drying the hair without heat. I found myself using that button more than once and even though I didn’t use hot air, my hair was still dry! Doing this made for softer and more manageable hair opposed to dry and brittle hair.

The pik attachment was great for when I really wanted to focus on blow drying certain areas of my hair and overall I thought $22.99 is a great value for this dryer.

Ceramic Curl Stick

I’ll be honest. The Ceramic Curl Stick through me for a loop when I first laid eyes on it. Call me old fashioned but I absolutely thought my eyes were playing tricks me on me when I noticed that there wasn’t a clamp on this curling iron. My mind was blown and I had to call a hair stylist friend of mine to really get tips on how to figure this out. My hair is short and I didn’t find much use for this until I get some extensions installed. Even then things were still a little tricky so I think this Curl Stick is best suited for those with long hair and for those who have great hand control. I just had a really hard time wrapping my hair around the stick. I think it’s a pretty cool idea, though! If you can figure out how to use it, you’re left with clamp-free curls. It also comes with a Head Protective Glove which is more than useful for clumsy gals like me. The Stick retails for $24.99

I am so impressed with The Laila Ali line and I am so glad to see such amazing products at reasonable prices. Next on my list to try is the overhead Ionic Hair Dryer. I’ve been needing an new one for almost a year now and so I’m saving my pennies for The Laila Ali one. I can’t wait to get it! For more information about The Helen Troy Laila Ali Line, visit here.

The Awesomeness That Is Katy Perry’s Killer Queen

Katy Perry Killer Queen fragrance

If  you know anything about me,  know that I love Katy Perry. In today’s music market you have so many people trying too hard. Katy Perry has raw natural talent and I appreciate that. I can put her music on when I am happy, sad and when I work out,  when I’m on a road trip and her music is. Katy Perry came out with her third perfume ,Killer Queen, in August and I am so excited that I received a sample to review.

Katy Perry Killer Queen perfume

So I know you’re reading this and saying “Of course YOU’LL love it, Courtney.” But really…it is actually a good perfume. I own Katy’s other perfumes, Meow and Purr, and Killer Queen is my favorite. It is a more adult perfume than the first two and has a nice floral scent. I love smelling good, but I have to be careful about what perfumes I use because I will get a migraine by the simplest smell. Killer Queen doesn’t give me a migraine at all. Aaaand, it lasts all day.

Katy Perry

Oh, and I have been getting compliments on how nice I smell which is always good. Of all the awesome things about the perfume, the bottle is my favorite. Katy Perry’s first two perfumes were in the shape of cats, but this bottle is fit for a queen. Classy, right?

A 3.4 oz bottle goes for $64 at Macy’s and most big department stores. Spring is coming up soon and it might be time to change your signature scent. Would you give Killer Queen a try?

Keeping It Caliente with Courtney: 2nd Tip

Hi guys! It’s B’s sister Courtney and I am continuing on with my summer series. Missed my first tip? You can find it here.

As most people know the economy is not doing so well. Saving money is a must for everyone. As a college student saving on the smallest things can make a HUGE difference.

Take your regular face cleanser for example…

I like to exfoliate my face at least 2-3 times a week to keep my skin nice and soft. Instead of spending money to buy a whole scrub, I just add a spoonful of sugar (Mary Poppins anyone, lol)

No…. really! Add a spoonful of sugar to your regular face wash…it will leave your skin feeling better than before.

If you want your face wash to be hard add more sugar, but if you want a nice scrub add just a little. Either way, it’s a nice cheap way to keep you saving money and looking great. And with those two things you can never lose~

Keep Your Summer Hot!

But Cool at the same time cause I know it’s burning up here in Tallahassee, Florida.

Until next time!
Courtney

Keeping it Caliente with Courtney: 1st Tip

[NOTE from B: My little sister wanted her own series at Clumps and instead of drop kicking her and saying "no" I acquiesced. Such a great big sister I am right? Support her please, fam! P.S. The banner is kinda hot, uh? My Photoshop skills are getting better. Yeah mon!]

Hey Guys its me again Courtney Nichelle….also known as Brittany’s sister.

I am done with my first year of college and not taking summer classes until late June. Yay! I thought that I would start a summer series full of my personal tips for keeping your summer caliente.

My first tip?

Staying hydrated!

Keeping your body hydrated is not only good for you on the inside, but it’s wonderful for the outside too. Staying away for soda and sugary drinks does wonders for your skin. And who doesn’t wanna show off skin in the summer? I try to drink at least two bottles of water everyday, but since I have been “trying” to go green i bought a cute water container. They are dishwasher safe and a lot more economical then buying water bottles everyday.

My challenge for you is to drink nothing but water for one week. With every meal……have water. Of course you will be making more trips to the bathroom, but it will be worth it when your skin is glowing.

Until next time…

Amor de Lacquer: Courtney’s Edition

Welcome to another post of Amor de Lacquer….the series all about nail polish and nail care! Send me your requests, suggestions and ideas at Brittany@ClumpsOfMascara.com.

Hey Guys its Courtney aka “Not Ur Sister” meaning I am Brittany’s sister :/ lol I tried out some new polishes that I loved to death that wanted to share.

I bought two Polishes at Sallys. Both were $5.99 from China Glaze. A brand that I love! …and there was a buy one, get one free sale. YAY ME!!!

I applied two coats to each nail then I applied a lovely top coat that my sister suggested called “Poshe “. I really likes these colors and I was inspired to get them because it’s cold outside and when I think of winter, I think of blues, silvers, golds and whites.

The Frostbite blue is so pretty. I usually change my polishes every two days but I may keep this one on for awhile. The Posche top coat really makes it shimmer.

I kept this one on. Even up until the Florida vs. Florida State game…I work at Florida State University and don’t think people would liked me very much wearing the hated rival school colors…lol.

The Platinum silver is a really pretty color to something I would wear daily and it is really pretty. It stands out without being too flashy.

ByeBye for now…watching my 1st christmas movie of the season…lol

Beauty Review: Broadway Real Life Nails

Happy Tuesday, lovelies! As I mentioned yesterday, this week I am going to be cranking out some beauty reviews. Everybody say “yaaay”!

*crickets*

Mmmkay, let’s move right along. My darling little sister has decided to review Broadway’s Real Life Nails. I really don’t know how the sample made it to my Mom’s house and not mine four hours away, but I’m sure Ms. C didn’t mind.

Courtney, say “hi”!

Wonderful! Now on to the review:

Broadway Real Life Nails

Okay, so my sister is doing her little make-up thingy on her website and it’s doing really well…

***Snaps for her***

Okay, so back to me—because she is doing so well, people send her things for her to review .Well, some stuff got send to my house. **Big Mistake*** I asked her if I could try the Broadways Nails.

When I first got it I was like, “Come on…who is gonna wear the stick on nails when you could go and get yout nails done?” but as a new college student I know that “the cheap way is the best way” LOL! These nails are really cute and easy to put. If you are putting them on correctly then you won’t get the glue all on yourself. Aside from being really cute they last a good little minute I wore them to a party this weekend and got many compliments because they look like an actual full-set.

I love these nails! They are great for a week or two but not something I would wear like a full set. What’s great about them is that do not interfere with everyday activities like driving or washing dishes. I mean, I did poke myself in the eye and it hurt like heck, but I guess that was just me being clumsy.

Only my sister would pose with the butterfly on her hand. LOL! I’m lovin’ it. So what do you folx think? I seriously thought that packaged nails was so “8th dance-ish” but I am shocked at how beautiful they look on Courtney’s nails. Not bad for under $7, uh? As a lady who does her own manicures, this is something I would consider investing in. Although I do love solid colors on my nails moreso than french manicures.

What say you, chicas?
