Green For St. Patrick’s Day

A few of the ladies in my Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida group have decided to get together and show off some of our green makeup looks. I almost wanted to do a pretty green eye shadow look, but uh…I got lazy. LOL! Maybe next year. Instead, I decided to show off one of my favorite green nail polishes…

Cult Nails Deal With It polish

Cult Nails’ Deal With It. I adore everything about this polish. Its subtle shimmer makes it wearable for all complexions. And it applies beautifully. As do most Cult Nails polishes. I wanted to do a nice design but the few design skills that I have developed over the years have somewhat disappeared.

Cult Nails All Access collection

I’m a loser for not doing a post on The Makeup Show Orlando yet. I know, I know. I’m on a serious budget these days so this collection of nail polishes was the only thing I purchased from the Show. Crazy, right? Usually I empty my pockets like mad. Look at that… I’m growing up. Ha!

I helped Maria of Cult Nails set up the day before the show and I had the chance to play around with the collection All Access. I fell in love. And for a good reason. I mean look…

Cult Nails All Access

*squeals*

Cult Nails Grunge

I knew I would love Grunge before I even swatched it. Maria was wearing this color on her nails and I couldn’t stop eyeing it. It’s described as a perfect military green creme and I couldn’t agree more. It has enough gray in it to where it doesn’t look like a Spring-y shade. It’s just perfect.

Cult Nails Feedback

Feedback contains soft gold, pink, and orange mylar flakes and I found it to be more sparkle-y than most topcoats with flakes. I love how it looks over Grunge. It looks pretty awesome over Lamestain too.

And speaking of Lamestain…

Cult Nails Lamestain

This is by far my favorite polish out of the entire collection. I mean, honestly… This rich, deep, ox blood creme is beyond anything that I’ve ever seen and I love that it doesn’t look black. I’ve been rocking it for a good week now and have no intentions of removing it.

Cult Nails Wack Slacks

‘elloooo Wack Slacks. There ain’t nothin’ like a gorgeous purple/blue nail polish (especially a creme) and Wack Slacks just makes me happy. It’s more blue than purple and applies like a dream.

Cult Nails Disillusion

Disillusion caught me by surprise! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a polish like this. Hot pink mylar shreds are sunken in a black jelly polish? Wow! It is opaque at 2 coats but really shines with 3 coats. I can’t wait to see how this looks over Cult Nails’ black nail polish.

Impressive, right? The pre-order for the collection has already passed but you can buy the polishes individually for $12 at CultNails.com.

Makeup Wars: Fall Manicure

Hey girl hey! Fall is in full swing (even in humid Florida) and I am all kinds of excited about it. The changing of seasons means I get to expose Elle to random happenings like pumpkin patches and it also means I can pull out my favorite Fall-inspired nail polishes. This Makeup Wars, the girls and I decided to showcase our favorite Fall manicures. I am far from a nail artist so I kept it simple and used one of my favorite polishes out this season.

DSC_1394

Say hello to the gorgeous Lamestain from Cult Nails’ All Access collection. I purchased all of the polishes from this collection but I adooooore this one the most.

DSC_1393

It’s a stunning polish, right? It’s a gorgeous and rich burgundy jelly that DOESN’T look black on the nails. It is everything I could have ever wanted in Fall nail polish. To add a bit of sparkle, I added Essie’s As Gold As It Gets on top.

DSC_1408

And since I’m as untraditional as they come, I am also loving butter LONDON’s Royal Navy as a Fall mani.

DSC_1427

I did a horrible silver glitter nail design on top but Royal Navy is the best navy nail polish everrrrr.

Check out the polishes the Makeup Wars girls picked as their favorite Fall manicures…

Makeup Wars – Our Favorite Purple Nail Polishes

It’s been a hot second since I’ve done a post with my Makeup Wars sisters. I know, I’m terrible. But I’ve crawled out from under my rock and today my girls and I are sharing our favorite purple nail polishes.

Soooooo not an easy task. Especially for a nail polish hoarder like me. How can I possibly have a favorite? That’s like asking a mom to pick their favorite kid. Okay, I’m kidding. I am hands down my Mom’s favorite. Just like Cult Nails’ Flushed is my favorite purple nail polish.

Cult Nails Flushed nail polish

Now as much as I love this baby, she just doesn’t photograph well. Cult Nails describes Flushed as a true “Blurple” (blue/purple) buildable sheer with an intense purple/pink shimmer effect that appears to glow through the polish (source). Yeeeep, that description is dead on for me. This nail polish has everything I could ever dream in a polish. It’s so unexpected and I’m always getting compliments when I wear it.

Flushed nail polish

And then there’s that luscious jelly finish. *swoons* I can’t get enough. Best purple everrrr!!!

Purple nail polish lovers…do you have a favorite?

Cult Nails 2-Year Anniversary Special Release

How is Cult Nails already 2 years old? I felt like I JUST met Maria yesterday and was talking to her about her “baby” of a nail polish brand. I mean, Cult Nails never felt like just indie nail polish brand. Maria handled business  like a champ and to me the brand felt high-end and professional right out of the box. I couldn’t be more proud of her and the Cult Nails team.

2013-02-020

To celebrate their 2 year anniversary Cult Nails released a special collection of 3 darling polishes. I was shocked that I remembered to pre-order them in enough time. Yaaaay!

Tempest is a pure white, high gloss. Maria tried her hardest to do a 1-coat white nail polish and I think she nailed it. THis is ONE coat of this baby and I’ve got a nice opaque finish. You’ll likely want to apply a second coat for good measure but um, wow…when have you ever seen a 1-coat white that wasn’t insanely streaky?

DSC_6263

Fetish is a wax look finish black polish. Basically it’s a matte polish. And I love it. It was so unexpected. Usually you see matte polishes when the rest of the world has considered them to be a “trend”. The formula for this one is a bit more on the plastic-y side of mattes. It is soft but isn’t completely shine-free. I used 2 coats for this one.

DSC_6274

Blaze is a perfect blend of glowing gold and copper glitter. It’s a nice opaque glitter. I’m not sure I’m in love with it completely because it looks a bit strange on my complexion but it certainly is a pretty polish to look at. I used 2 coats for this one too.

Price: $12/piece
Availability: You can scoop them up from CultNails.com.
Limited Edition?: No.
Do I recommend ‘em?: Well, yeah. You’ll never see me NOT recommend a Cult Nails polish though. I’m just that obsessed with the brand.

I am slowly building my collection of CN polishes…

DSC_6279

Yep!

Whatcha think? Find anything special about those 3 polishes? And dude, give me a round of applause. I managed to find enough time to polish my nails. That’s something I haven’t doen in over 6 weeks (pre-Baby Clumps days). Whooooa!

Cult Nails Cult Fairy Tale collection

Chiiiiile, I can not believe I am just now showcasing this collection. I had to go to the Cult Nails website to see if the polishes were still available. And yep, some of them are. *wipes brow* Nothing sucks more than showcasing beautiful beauty baubles that folx can’t buy. It’s worth crying over. I’m not even kidding. The Cult Fairy Tale collection came out this Summer and it features 4 shades and gorgeous shredded flake-y top coat.

Beauty

Pretty stuffs, uh?

DSC_1171

Evil Queen is candy apple red, baby. It’s a creamy red that’s a shade down from from fire truck red. It’s applies to perfection.

DSC_1135

Feelin’ Froggy makes 1 of 2 Cult Nails greens that I’m in love with. The other is Deal With It from Coco’s Untamed collection. According to Cult Nails Feelin’ Froggy is a muted kelly green crème whose true beauty was revealed by the kiss of a bright green shimmer. Fantastic description, uh? 2-3 coats will give it a nice opaque finish but if you apply 1 coat, you can easily make a jelly sandwich. WIN!

DSC_1121

Princess is no longer available but it’s a pale blue with subtle pink/gold/green shimmer. The shimmer is indeed very subtle but it’s sweet and very dainty.

DSC_1152

Charming is such an interesting shade. It’s a medium violet purple with pink and blue shimmer it’s like a shimmer jelly. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a shade like this before.

And then there’s Happy Ending that I layered over a few of the polishes.

DSC_1174

DSC_1153

DSC_1138

It’s a freaking awesome jagged glitter and I’m shocked that it’s still available. *squeals* I may need to get back ups of this one.

I applied 2 coats of each polish and like all Cult Nails polishes, they applied beautifully. This brand can do no wrong in my eyes. Maria is consistently coming out with products that don’t look like every other shade out on the market. Gotta love that! You can still order a few of these polishes here but hurry as they are all limited edition.

Amor de Lacquer: Cult Nails Deception collection

Maria and the Cult Nails crew has done it again! A few weeks back, I managed to trek on down (or over…I need to look at a map) to the Cult Nails headquarters and attended a nail polish party/photoshoot with my fellow Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida gal pals. We had a BLAST! That was my first social event in months and I was glad that Baby Clumps didn’t have me feeling nauseous or uncomfortable. Courtney of Phyrra did an awesome post chronicling our fun time.

While there, we all got to play around with the newest Cult Nails collection…Deception.

I am beyond impressed and didn’t see this one coming! For one, all of these polishes are intended to be used as top coats. That means while you can wear them solo, they’ll look 10x better layered over another polish – especially a black polish. Like Cult Nails’ 1-coat wonder Nevermore. That polish isn’t included in this collection but I had to showcase it just to give you an idea of how great of a base it is with the Deception polishes layered on top.

See how beautifully dark Nevermore is?

Yes girl! If you need a lusciously creamy black polish that reaches an opaque finish with just one coat…this is it!

The Deception dream team…

Alter Ego casts a gold/green tinge over the nails. Which is weird because the polish itself looks like an opalescent pink, right? Very deceptive! When it hits natural light it gives off a shimmery hunter green effect.

Charlatan is multi-chromatic wonderment. I don’t really even know how to explain this one because it’s just THAT stunning. I found it to be the thicker of all 5 polishes but I didn’t struggle with application. Sometimes it looks like a shimmery blue and other times it looks purple. And sometimes it’s both. This is definitely my favorite of the bunch. Love love love!

Deception reminds me of those popular cotton candy-type shades from the 90’s. I actually really like it by itself but it looks fantastic layered over Nevermore too. It has a faint purple/hot pink shimmer that really comes alive when the nails hit the light.

Doppleganger is a milky kid that gives the nails a blue/green shimmer. It’s the most interesting of the top coats and at first I didn’t think I like it but after rockin’ it on the nails for a few days…it ain’t so bad. I can’t wait to play around with this one with other shades. Maybe layered over a dark blue? Hmmm….

Two Timer is deceptive too because while the polish looks gold, it actually looks more green on the nails. But not green like Alter Ego. This one is more of a jewel-toned green and doesn’t nearly have as much shimmer as Alter Ego does.

I swatched each top coat over my bare nails just to give you an idea of how they look by themselves.

Pretty awesome collection, uh? The options are endless and I find these fantastic for when you want to switch up your nail polish a bit without completely removing it. Maria has a ton of other layering options on the Cult Nails blog.

This collection is currently available for purchase at $10 a bottle.

Which top coat is your fave?

Amor de Lacquer: Cult Nails Coco’s Untamed collection

It’s been forever and a day since I’ve showcased some nail polishes, uh? I’ve got soooooo many to share with y’all but I wasn’t showin’ not one swatch until my nails got their acts together. Whilst moving I broke, not 1, not 2 but like 7 nails. I’m not a lover of how short nails look on me. At all. And so I had to wait a good month and a half before my nubs got some length to ‘em. And then I had to wait until they got long enough for me to give them an oval shape. Because I looooove the look of oval nails over square nails.

So yeah. That’s my story. Anywhoovers – this crazy awesome Cult Nails collection will be the first collection I debut after my nail polish hiatus. Coco’s Untamed collection was not only inspired by but created by Maria’s 13-year old daughter Coco.

How cool is that? In true “Like Mother, Like Daughter” fashion, Coco has a serious affinity for nail polish and has always enjoyed helping her Mom come up with colors. It only makes that she has her own collection. Talk about a teenage dream!

Deal With It is my second favorite of the bunch. I am loving everything about this lime green loaded with gold shimmer. I’m a lover of the color green but I REALLY love lime green and I don’t think I’ve ever come across such a bright and opaque lime green like this one. Way to go, Coco!

Spontaneous is a described as a dark, deep and dusty purple creme with vibrant purple glitter and it’s such an interesting shade. It is actually a wee bit brighter than what my camera is giving you. The vibrant purple glitter is subtle but is still noticeable when it hits the light. I didn’t use one but this polish will be even more stunning with the Cult Nails Wicked Fast top coat. Without a top coat, it dries to a dull finish.

Annalicious is a  shimmery red with an orange influence packed full of red and gold shimmer and it’s named after Coco’s BFF Anna. My camera always has a hard time capturing reds and pinks that tote a bit of shimmer. It’s unfortunate too because Annalicious is one stunning red. I’m rockin’ it as a pedi color now. But I’m not a fan of seeing or posting pictures of feet so I’ll spare y’all on that one. You can thank me later.

I Got Distracted is totally the headliner in this collection. This is a black jelly polish with holographic glitter interrupted by intense green glitter. And it’s epic. But of course, it has HOLOGRAPHIC glitter! Nail polish enthusiasts go crazy for some holographic, yo. This is such a stunning polish. It applied thickly and I loved it so much I didn’t even want to remove it. It is everything to me right now. Love this polish!

Untamed may look a bit muted than all of the other polishes and it’s because I had already worn it for 3 days. Surprised? I am! I am everything but a pink nail polish lover but this bubble gum pink sheer jelly polish with subtle multi colored shimmer totally stole my heart. I had a little bit of a visible nail line but I was okay with that. I freaking love jelly polishes. I could wear them all the time…

Must Haves
-Oh what the heck – just grab the whole collection!

Formula-wise these polishes were great. I Got Distracted was on the thicker side but it’s nothing that 2 even coats can’t work out. Coco did an amazing job with every single one of these polishes. There is something unique and special about each one of them. This collection debuted on her birthday (this past Wednesday on July 11th) and I can’t think of a more epic birthday present.

You can grab the entire for $40 at CultNails.com.

Whatcha think about this collection? How awesome is Deal With It? And I Got Distracted? Insane, right?
