As a Mom to a very talkative and energetic 2-year old, I love my me time, y’all. And it doesn’t have to be fancy. Shoot, a trip to CVS alone is considered a vacation to me. It happens often considering I’ve got a 3 CVS locations in a 10-mile radius. So when the fine folks at CVS/Pharmacy reached out wanting to do a little collaboration, I was like “Definitelyyyy!”
Sooooo another Fashion Week has zoomed right on by and with her she dumped a ton of beauty trends that have beauty-obsesesd folx like myeslf going gaga.
Like last season, I’ve been trying to see if I can comfortably mimic some of those trends without lookin’, ya know, too cray cray. Aaaaand with the help of CVS/pharmacy, I think I can do it. If it turns out a total disaster, at least I’ll be covered with CVS/pharmacy’s 60-day Beauty Guarantee.
Considering I was born with massive brows, I’d say that I’ve been rockin’ this trend for a good 28 years now. For serious. Big brows are back and if you’re like me and yours need constant defining, check out Maybelline’s Eye Studio Master Shape brow pencil ($7.99). Even a newb like me can fill in those sparse areas with ease. But remember – less is more.
Insanely bold lip colors.
Yas! Y’all know I love to rock a bold lip and will do so no matter what the season is. Maybelline’s Color Sensational Vivids lipsticks are freaking ah-mazing. I’ll be reviewing them but in the meantime, how awesome is Vivid Rose? I scooped her up for $7.39 and got Neon Red for $3.69.
Hollerssss. It’s easy to hoard these because every shade is super pigmented and goooorgeous.
Say whaaaat? I didn’t see this one coming. I don’t have anything against blue eyeshadow. I just don’t wear it often. This trend has me being a bit more creative when doing my makeup in the morning. I’ve been trying to find ways to comfortably wear blue. I’m lovin’ this L’Oreal Colour Riche eyeshadow palette.
Not bad for under $8.
White/neutral nail polish shades
I love white nail polish. Like, luuuuurve. I just don’t wear it often because they can be a bit of a pain to apply. But if you find a good one like Sally Hansen’s Sheer Bliss ($7.79), you better rock it, sister.
Thanks to these affordable products, I hit 4 trends and stayed under $50. But remember, for every $50 spent on beauty at CVS/pharmacy, you get $5 in ExtraBucks Rewards!
Enter the Rafflecopter below for a chance to win 1 $50 CVS/pharmacy gift card to snag some products that you were inspired by this past Fashion Week. Good luuuuck!

Ohmigoodness gals (and the 3 guys that read Clumps)! I am beyoooond excited about the cool things coming soon to CVS Beauty aisles. 2013 is going to bring so many awesome beauty products and CVS Beauty gave me a sneak peek of that with this box…
Brace yourself for this, y’all. Many of these products won’t hit drugstore shelves until early 2013. But hey, if you’ve managed to already catch ’em at your stores, then you are one lucky ducky.
Looks like L’Oreal will be giving us a new mascara. You know I can’t wait to test that baby out.
I’m not familiar with this brand or Hair Chalk in general, but it sounds interesting…
COVERGIRL has their version of jumbo lightweight lip pencils. Weeeee!
In the skincare department, Neutrogena Naturals has a new scrub specifically for acne and the awesomeness is that is Salma Hayek has a new hand cream.
I think I’ve tried Organix once or twice and even though I’m a hair product snob, I think these products may actually work for my hair type. Plus, they’re sulfate-free!
Revlon has pretty new pigmented lip balms.
And speaking of lip balms, I have been looooving Maybelline’s Color Whisper lipsticks.
Pretty, right? They are most like Revlon’s Lip Butters. And speaking of Maybelline, they have a new mascara…
Of course I’ll be reviewing that baby soon.
We’re going to see some goodies in the nail world…
…we’re going to see more in the anti-aging skincare department.
…as well as more BB creams.
And Olay has a cool “Powered Contour Cleansing System”.
So yeah. That’s just a liiiiiittle peek at what we can expect to see from some of our favorite drugstore brands. I am always super excited when it comes to the new year because I know brands are really going to try and WOW us. Stay tuned for reviews of some of these goodies.
Have you seen any of these products in stores yet? What are you most looking forward to?
Well, well, well…as if shopping at CVS would get any better…
See all of those nail goodies?
You can find all of those and more at CVS locations nationwide. But wait, a select few locations (2,000 to be exact) have recently launched a special in-store kiosk for for nail polish and accessories. I knowwww! How freaking cool is that? CVS has been paying attention and they understand just how popular nail polish, art and trends have become. They are finding ways to really appeal to their beauty buyin’ consumers and this is so the way to do it. I mean, they already had me in love with ’em with the Beauty Club but now a special section just for nail polish lovers? *dreamy sigh*
The kiosk looks a lil’ somethin’ like this…
Fancy, uh? I have yet to find it in my neck of the woods but don’t think that I’m not stalkin’ every CVS I come around to see if they have the in-store kiosks. I am so on the hunt.
CVS Beauty gifted me with some of their most popular nail polish brands and trends and you knowwwww I am all over these. Especially this little baby here…
Gel polishes are so big right now and many brands are creating little kits that are allowing you to do gel nails at home. Pretty freaking cool, if you ask me.
If you run into a CVS Nail HQ kiosk in your hood, let me know!
If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll see that I’m always sending out tweets about random drugstore discounts and sales. I’m in a drugstore at least twice a week and have called myself a drugstore paparazzi. Yep, camera and all. I’m usually hittin’ up CVS simply because there’s like 3 between my job and work and being a member of their BeautyClub has crazy perks. You get rewards just for buying the things that you were going to purchase anyway. After you’ve purchased up to $50 worth of beauty goodies, CVS will print out a $5 ExtraBuck at the end of your receipt. It’s THAT easy.
I had the mission of seeing if I could go to CVS and spend $50 on beauty goodies inspired by this past season’s New York Fashion Week. Well, y’all know how I am when it comes to beauty challenges….CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!
Creamy pink nails were a big highlight throughout NYFW. Also a big highlight are Maybelline’s new Color Show nail polishes. I managed to snag Born With It for less than $4.
We also saw a ton of gorgeous nail art hitin’ the runways. I’m not the type to sit and do some serious nail art (I’m too lazy, y’all) but what I will do is use those awesome Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail strips. And while they are time-consuming, I’ve found that applying a strip on just one nail can sometimes do the trick. This design is called Simply D-Vine. Get it? Vine? 😛
Red lips was another trend and you’ll never see me complain about this one as I ADORE red lipstick. Especially Revlon’s red lippies. I got True Red for $9.49. But wait…it was buy 1, get one 50% off so I grabbed the beautiful Wild Orchid too.
Move over super loud blush. Bare faces were hot this past season and I couldn’t be happier. I love the natural look of bare skin or skin with just a touch of powder. Something subtle like Physician Formula’s Multi-Colored blush.
Pretty and super volumized lashes were a big hit. And they’re a big hit with me too. But here’s the thing…no mascara could really give me the look I was looking for I purchased some Ardell Lashes ($4.79) and applied ’em. Uh. Or at least tried. I still feel some kinda way about false lashes but at least these didn’t irritate my eyes like crazy. Stay tuned for a review of ’em!
My grand total in attempts to re-create the trends? $43.79 before taxes.
Not bad, uh? Best of all, because I used my trusty CVS card, this $24 will go towards my $50 which will result in a $5 coupon. Hollaaaa! I recently got the CVS Look Book for this season and woooowsers….
…keep your eyes peeled for these awesome new products hitting stands soon.
I can’t WAIT to snag those Salma Hayek polishes. I love everything I’ve tried in that line so I’m sure the polishes will be a hit. If you aren’t a member of the CVS BeautyClub, hop to it, girlfriend. You don’t know what you’re missing out on!
In honor of the awesomeness that is the CVS BeautyClub, I am giving away a $50 gift certificate to one lucky follower. Good luck, ducks!
[giveaway has ended]
Disclosure: I was provided with a gift card to make the above purchases but I was not paid to write this post. I decided on the products that were purchased and simply wanted to share with y’all how awesome CVS’ BeautyClub is.
Have you heard the news? My good friend and fellow beauty blogger Milly from Beauty Logic Blog announced that was she was the newest gal added to the CVS Beauty Board. Huge deal! Words can’t express how proud I am of her. And don’t even get me started on how much I love strolling through CVS and racking up ExtraBucks.
Just in time for the holidays, Milly will be dropping ideas and product suggestions for festive looks via a live chat on Facebook.
When: Thursday, December 15, 2011 from 12:00pm-1:30pm EST
Where: On Facebook, yo.
See you there!
Promise me you won’t judge me, okay? Up until a few days ago I had not curled my lashes in months. Months, I say! While some of y’all may be like “Really B? Who cares?”, others know how much of a difference a few pumps of a eyelash curler can do.
The reason why I’ve gone so long without one? I couldn’t locate any of mine and I was just too cheap to buy a new one. But then I found a coupon for $2 off of any Sally Hansen beauty tool and I was tempted to finally purchase one. Well, what do you know? As soon as I walked through CVS’ beauty aisle, I saw some of Sally Hansen’s newest tools–one being a darling eyelash curler.
To the newbie eye, one may assume that all eyelash curlers are the same but I certainly beg to differ. The Sexy Curls Precision Eyelash Curler has many attributes of a GOOD eyelash curler. And here’s why.
A) It’s affordable. With the coupon, this baby was less than $5. Heyyyy!!
B) My fat fingers can fit through!
Laugh if you want, but I’m glad to know that my mumbo jumbo fingers can comfortably grip the curler.
C) It doesn’t give the L-shaped curl.
Ay yi yi…nothing sucks more than ending up with a L-shaped lashes. While you can blame yourself for pressing down little TOO hard, it’s good to know that you can push it to the limit with this curler and not endure 90 degree angle’d lashes.
So yes, my darlings….if you’re in the market for a new eyelash curler, I’d give this one a try. I was pleasantly surprised. Oh! And if you’re a CVS
fanatical stan shopper, like me, you may find a $2-off coupon right BY the eyelash curlers. Ooooh yeah.
I am getting so much better at couponing. I scored $7 worth of ExtraCare bucks at CVS last week. Woo hooo!!
