Senses – A Disney Spa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort

A dream is a wish your heart makes…
When you’re at a Disney spaaaaa….

Okay, I’ve totally remixed the song but for good reason. There really isn’t anything like an experience at a Disney spa. I had the opportunity to visit one last month and I am still singing praises. I grew up going to the Walt Disney World Parks but there’s another side to Disney that I had yet to uncover; it’s the serene, relaxing, indulging side of Disney. It’s the side that says “Let them go to the parks. You stay here and get pampered. You need it. You deserve it.”

Senses Spa - Disney

And it’s true. Because I did need it. This spa experience will forever be etched in my mind because it was not only my first Disney spa trip but it was my first one after giving birth. There really isn’t any better reason to visit a spa, am I right?

First things first, Senses – A Disney Spa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. There is also one at The Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. The one at Saratoga Springs Resort is nestled nicely near the resort’s majestic pool. Upon entering, you’re greeted with sweet spa trinkets, cosmetics from the Beautifully Disney spa line. After checking in your hostess leads you up the steps and to a tray of drink options. Senses plays well…on all of your senses. It starts with the sense of taste. After enjoying a few sweet sips of fresh fruit juice, you head over to the locker room and then the Relaxation Room.

Senses Relaxation Room

The Relaxation Room was one of my favorite experiences because it felt as if I was transported into a quiet oasis where nothing mattered. Platters of spa muffins and spa water (water infused with basil and cucumbers) greeted me. I sipped on the water, closed my eyes and propped my feet up on one of the lounge chairs. I didn’t ever want to move. My name was called and I made my way to the massage room where my EXCELLENT masseuse asked me questions about any problematic areas. After the consultation he left to allow me to get comfortable and once he came back he had me take 2 deep breaths from the lavender oil on palms of his hands. The 50-minute swedish massage was more than great. It ended far too quickly and I didn’t want to get up.

After exiting the room, my masseuse had a post-massage jelly and cup of water for me. He led me to the mani and pedi room where I had my hands and feet rubbed to perfection. My wonderful manicurist gave me Mickey Mouse ears on my nails (you know…because I’m 5-years old at heart) and I was sent out into the world a changed woman.

The Senses really taps into…your senses. From the relaxing and melodic tunes, the various tastes that are being presented to you, the gentle touches of the professional spa staff; it was truly a thorough experience. But of course, this is what you expect of Disney. And as always, they never disappoint.

If you find yourself in the Walt Disney World area and in the need of some pampering, do yourself a favor and make a reservation at Senses. It’s the next best thing to hugging the Mouse.

*Disclosure: I was a part of  a press trip where I received free treatments. I wasn’t paid to write this post but would you really have to pay me to talk about the awesomeness of Disney? Yeah…no.

The NEW California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

It’s been a long time since I’ve done a food post, huh? Well…food at a restaurant post. My paleo and dairy free life makes eating out out super tricky and so I tend to just eat at home. But during a press trip, I was offered the opportunity to visit the brand new California Grill.

California Grill

As a Florida native I’ve stayed at the Contemporary Resort and I’ve eaten at California Grill before. Both visits were years ago so I was beyond excited to see how California Grill revamped themselves. The new decor is amazing and the floor to ceiling windows are even more amazing.

Cali-Grill-Dining-Room

That’s a press photo from DisneyFoodBlog.com but honey, isn’t it beautiful? I love open kitchen restaurants because if you’re nosey like me, you can run on up and see what’s a cookin’. Or am I the only one that does that? I spent a lot of time hanging out by the sushi bar.

Sushi bar

I’ve been eating a lot of sushi these days and the California Grill’s sushi bar is top notch. Sushi artists (or at least they should be called that) wrapped up gorgeous and delectable rolls of some of the best tasting sushi I’ve ever had. I helped myself to plenty and didn’t feel guilty about it either.

Sushi on plate

But aside from the sushi, the restaurant offers a variation of top notch entrees, cocktails, desserts and fantastic meals from their brand new wood fire oven. Vegetarians, vegans, paeleo minded and the dairy conscious won’t have any problems dining at California Grill as the menu options are diverse and fresh. I couldn’t help myself and had a baby version of the Caramel Popcorn sundae and I could not have asked for a better sweet treat to end the day.

Sweet treat

One of the best sweetest aspects of California Grill is getting the opportunity to view Magic Kingdom’s Wishes fireworks show from outside on the observation walkway. I left before the fireworks started but I’ll be back because I heard that was truly a sight to see.

If you think you’ll be visiting the Walt Disney World area soon, make a reservation at California Grill. Esposo and I have a wedding anniversary in November and I’m thinking this would be the perfect place to re-live the very night we became man and wife. By the way, we spent the night at Disney World.

Disclosure: I was provided samples of dishes at no cost but I was not paid to write this review. I would have written it anyway though because everything was THAT good and I’m obsessed with Disney. Yep.

Yummy Food from Epcot’s Food & Wine Festival

Back in the day I used to consider myself an amateur photographer. My specialties were landscapes, babies and food. First trimester sickies robbed me off that hobby but now I’m back! I’ve pulled out my cameras and now I can’t stop taking pictures. Such was the case when I went to Epcot’s International Food & Wine Festival last week.  I am totally one of those annoying people who take picture before they eat. But come oooon. Just look at that waffle!

If you’re an adventurous food lover, you HAVE to visit’ Epcot’s Food & Wine festival. Several kiosks are located throughout the park that allow visitors to purchase yummy eats (and drinks) inspired by various countries. And the food is AMAZING. Oh! That waffle? It came from Belgium. It’s a Belgium Waffle with Berry Compote and Whipped Cream. I love waffles and I didn’t expect much but it was absolutely delectable.

Amor de Lacquer: OPI Minnie Mouse collection

This collection excited me to no end. I am an ENORMOUS Disney fan. Not so much of the color pink but the fact that my girl Minnie has her own collection speaks highly for me. The Mouse and I go way back.

Yeah, literally. I was 3 or 4 years old in that picture and I am still fanatic about Disney. I actually saw Minnie Mouse a few weekends ago.

Cute, ain’t she? I forgot to congratulate her on her new line. In fact, they wouldn’t even let me get in the streets and dance around with her. Something about that only being allowed for kids. Pfft. I AM a kid, thank you very much.

If You Moust You Moust is a soft pink cream. It’s nothing terribly unique about it. And the name is kinda weird to me. I see where they’re going with the whole “Moust” thing but still…it’s weird. Ha!

Nothin’ Mousie ‘Bout It is a confetti light pink that is complete with teeny tiny hearts. It’s absolutely adorabo. Layering those hearts can be quite the feat but once you’ve mastered it, you’ve got a cutesy manicure. The added hot pink shimmer adds some nice sparkle to the mix too. I’ll definitely be pulling this out around Valentine’s Day.

I’m All Ears is a pretty magenta shimmer.

The Color of Minnie is an interesting shade of red. One that I can actually appreciate it. It’s a micro shimmer that applies beautifully and has a heavy dose of pink in it.

Must Haves
-Nothin’ Mousie ‘Bout It. If you don’t have any heart-sy polishes, this one is just so cute.

Formula-wise these polishes were great. I applied 2 coats for each polish. Nothin’ Mousie ‘Bout It can be a bit on the thick side. The hearts also tend to sink to the bottom of the bottle. Turning it upside down before use should help the hearts spread evenly. I would have loved to see MORE polishes in this collection. Minnie deserves it, don’t you think?

How are you feelin’ about this collection?

Around Orlando: The Clumps sisters take over Disney World

A few weeks ago, I spontaneously went to Disney World with my sisters Courtney and Imani. I say spontaneously because while some of you spend months and years planning a  trip to Disney, it only took me like…an hour. Crazy, uh? Living in one of the tourist capitals of the world has its benefits. I didn’t take too many pictures because I was too busy acting like a child but we had so much fun.

Courtney has watched one too many episodes of America’s Next Top Model. Haaaa!

I look at my youngest sister Imani and I’m like…how in the world did she grow up so fast? How is she in 7th grade already?

They forced me to take these pictures.

*squeals* Walking through this part of Magic Kingdom brings back so many memories.

I swear I could stare at this castle allllll day.

Splash Mountain. The ride that I used to love but will probably throw up my guts if I got on now.

Don’t laugh. This ride is the best.

More pretty pictures of the castle…

You haven’t seen a crowd until you’ve seen one at Disney World.

It’s madness. But a blissful madness. I hope to take another trip this year with Mama Clumps. I haven’t been to Disney World with my Mommy since….I can’t even remember when. Plus, if I take her, she’ll pay for everything. 8) I kid, I kid.

A little….

Around Orlando: AMC Dine-In Theatres

It took me a little more than 3 years to realize it, but living in Orlando is pretty cool. While most locals don’t spend a lot of their time around tourist-y areas (although, I certainly don’t mind it), it’s great to find attractions that a local wouldn’t mind headin’ to every now and then.

Welcome to AMC’s Dine-In Theatres. This is where where a dinner AND a movie are combined to create the ultimate movie viewing experience.
