Carol’s Daughter, Princess and the Frog event

This post is oh so late. Please excuse me, darlings.

Back in November of 2009 (like that was eons ago, ha!) I had the pleasure of attending a Carol’s Daughter Princess and the Frog event in Atlanta. I LOVE me some Atlanta so it was nothing for me to take a little road trip up North.

If you didn’t know, Carol’s Daughter came out with limited edition products featuring Disney’s Princess and the Frog. See!

I know…sooooo cute, right? The set (retails for $30.50) includes a shampoo, conditioner and bubble bath for the little princess in your life.

I made it to Lenox Square Mall that cold and rainy November day just in time to see Lisa Price, the creator of Carol’s Daughter, mix up a little somethin-somethin right before our eyes.

Using salt, an essential oil blend (jojoba, rosemary, clary sage, etc), peppermint and tapioca pearls, Lisa made an amazing body scrub. We were all able to take some home and of course after I used all of mine, I made some of my own.

Loves it!

I was able to score a few seconds with Lisa in which we talked about the difficulties of transitioning from permed hair to natural hair.

She spoke about the importance of using the right products for your hair while going through that transition. Unfortunately our time was cut short and I SO didn’t get through my list of questions and to be around such an esteemed womanpreneur in her own stomping grounds was quite the honor. And I saw many ladies with beautiful locs, afros, twists and curls! Special love to Tamera who noticed me from Clumps of Mascara.

Don’t forget to grab that Princess and the Frog ‘Magical Beauty Gift Set’ before it sells out.

And have you seen the Princess and the Frog yet? Y’all know I did. It was only THE best Disney movie of all time for me. Well, it’s actually neck in neck with The Lion King but yeah….it was GREAT!

Clumps in the Streets: Maybelline ColorSensational Event

So remember in this post when I talked about Maybelline New York heading down South to tell us cool Floridians about their newest kids on the block? I was already heading down that way to visit family so it was totally meant to be that this event landed on the same weekend.

Saturday morning I grabbed Clumps’ Miami intern Briana, her Mommy and my BFF (she wrote an awesome post about this event on her Mommy blog). We headed to the “Little Havana” part of Miami and jetted to the parking lot where the ColorSensational trailer had been set up. There was a crowd of ladies listening to astrology expert Carlos Javier. He was revealing what colors best went with each sign.

Executive Editor of the magazine Siempre Mujer, Maria Cristina Marrero was also there.

“Psshttt….” whispered the intern. “Everyone is speaking in Spanish.”

Ah yes…the entire presentation era en Espanol pero I was fine. I’ve been speaking Spanish since I was a little girl so I was good!

Soon after the presentation, they opened the doors and let us in. The trailer had been set up with lip-over sections. It was gorgeous!

BriAna, the intern, is great…she took all of those photos while I chit-chatted with my lip consultant. I lovingly named her mi madre de labios (my Mother of Lips…ha!)

Together we picked out the perfect lip for moi. The ColorSensational collection has 4 color families to choose from….pinks, naturals, plums and reds. They are neatly categorized by packaging.

Anywhoovers, if you know me…you know I chose red!! And of course it scared me with the initial application.

But within seconds, I was loving it!

We used Very Cherry lipstick.

BriAna even got in on the action. She chose a teen appropriate color that looks so darling on her! Ohhh, to be 16 again!

I’ll be doing swatches and providing more information about the fabulousness that is the ColorSensational lippies. Until then..

SMOOCHES!

The Artist Summit Miami-Inglot Cosmetics=WHOA!

Time for some photo footage from The Artist Summit Miami!

When I saw the list of vendors, I was most excited to see Inglot Cosmetics. As many of you know, I fell in love with this brand a few months back in New York City. Check out that post here. As fate would have it, the brand is still ONLY available in New York as of right now. It has Canadian and Polish locations but as far as the U.S., a freestanding store only resides in NYC. I know, completely unfair.

So as you can imagine I RAN to them when I saw their spacious layout. Intern Bri did a fabulous job at capturing how I really feel about Inglot.

Seriously y’all…this brand is ridiculous. Ridiculous as in good, I mean. The colors, the packaging, the innovative styles, I just…I love it. Check it out!

I was modest and only hauled two interesting look test tube lippies.

The more I fall for Inglot, the more they upset me. Why can’t we order them online already? Man oh man! And I really do hate to tease y’all but hopefully sooner rather than later, Inglot will open their doors and allow everyone to play with and purchase their products.

I’m wishin’ on a star….

Stay tuned for more installments of The Artist Summit Miami!

FOTD Friday: BriAna goes glam

Hi darlings! And Happy Friday to all. This FOTD Friday features my beautiful and amazing 16-year old cousin, BriAna. She was the official Artist Summit Miami intern. She did took notes, snapped shots, hob-nobbed with make-up artists and even provided snacks throughout seminars. My baby cousin (who I like to think I helped raise, lol) is not your average teen. She’s been class president, held jobs, sings, acts and is also captain of her volleyball team. My girl is on fire. Her personality radiates so much that she even attracted the likes of YouTube guru Koren from EnKore Makeup.

That’s right, my homie Koren wanted to do BriAna’s make-up for Naked Cosmetics. She was incredibly excited. And the FOTD came out amazing!

The results!

My little sweetums was in LOVE with this look. She actually pouted when it was time to remove it. She doesn’t wear make-up on a regular so this was a ton of fun for her. Oh, to be 16 again!

She’s such a doll, isn’t she? Someone cue Fergie’s “Glamorous”.

Rock on, Bri!!

Off to Atlanta I go for the Blogalicious Conference. Of course I’ll be live tweeting along the way.

Have an awesome weekend!

Premiere Orlando, Installment 1

I am a few months late on reporting this, but trust me when I say the experience at the Premiere Orlando International Beauty event is still reverberating en mi cabeza. This show was hot and as a newbie I SOOO wasn’t prepared.
A day prior to the show I had just returned back to the States. I didn’t get a chance to plan out what vendors I wanted to see. I figured I could just walk around and make my way to everyone.
Um.
No.
Premiere Orlando is HUGE! Enormous. Massive.
It was held at the Orlando Convention Center which is huge in itself. You know it’s serious when there are over SIX entrances to get into ONE show. And a red carpet leading to each.

Most entrances had mini-food courts. Shuttles took visitors to and from the entrances to their cars. So yes….all of that should have prepared me for Premiere Orlando. But alas I walked up in there expecting you know, 20 or so vendors. NOT!
Outside the show…

Inside the show…

Me 30 minutes after entering the show…

Oh weee! I SO wasn’t ready.
Think hair and nail competitions. Think hundreds and hundreds of vendors. Think live hair shows on runways and workshops. Think displays of spa equipment and classes. If you are in the hair, nail and spa world, you know about Premiere Orlando. And you were there.
Did you go? Want to go? Going next year?
Am I the only one shocked that an event of this magnitude was actually in the same city I live in? I didn’t even have to fly out!

FOTD Friday: Bloggin’ Beauts event edition

It’s another Friiiiiday! Dang, already? I’m never the one to complain about the end of a work week but my goodness…..sometimes they come a little TOO quickly if you ask moi.
Okay, soooo…I wanted to make the Bloggin’ Beauts the star of this FOTD Friday. Last weekend I partied with some of NYC’s finest.
And I don’t mean celebs, I mean bloggers! I have gained quite a bit in my 2 years of blogging at Clumps of Mascara. Aside from connecting with all of y’all, I also get the chance to hob nob with fellow beauty bloggers. It really does my heart joy. Follow my POTD (place of the day) back to NYC and at the Beauty Beauts event!
Yesss, I’m back. I am a small city girl by nature but I ALWAYS feel at home in the Big Apple.
I didn’t have any concrete plans so I pretty much roamed the city most of Friday and Saturday. I I found myself in a Chanel boutique and while the purses and shoes made me want to swoon, I ran to the cosmetics area where I knew my $20 could get me “something”.
But I didn’t haul anything. Chanel Cosmetics are gorgeous but a little too rich for my blood. I’m just sayin’….
I give my little sister my Blackberry for a quick second and before I know it she’s taking photos like a true beauty blogger.
If she started swatching, I would have died. LOL!
I did some more roaming around and managed to catch some AWESOME shots of the city. Especially this one.
Fellow beauty blogger and NYC BFF, Adina.
And these photos were all taken by my Blackberry, so……wow!
Managed to see another Broadway play.
WICKED is soooo a must see.
Saturday was the day of the party and you know it’s serious when you see cosmetics on plates. Oh yes, we take beauty seriously around here.

The purpose of Bloggin’ Beauts was to not only network with other beauty bloggers but to also play around with make-up and introduce new brands.
A presentation on Arbonne…..
We were even pampered by Zoya celebrity make-up artist, Jackie. She is doing the nails of Mrs. Thevi Cosmetics herself!
A few of the ladies chit-chatting….
The ladies at the meet-up!

A ton of love to Yana for doing all of the things I couldn’t do to make this party a success. And I can’t forget all of our sponsors including Zoya, Purple Lab NYC, Orly, Solerra, Arbonne, 3 Custom Color, Tarte, Fingrs, My Pretty Pink Box, Thevi, Cerave, Korres, etc.

With transferring all of my photos from my PC to my new MacBook Pro (woo!) my pictures are currently inaccessible–hence why all of these photos came from my Blackberry. To view other lovely photos from our event, click HERE to visit the NYC Bloggin’ Beauts website.

Anyone thinking about coming to my neck of the woods for The Makeup Show Miami? I’ll show y’all how us Floridians party. LOL!

Have an awesome weekend,
