Playin’ Up The Eyes

walmart_beauty_logo

Wearing a full face of makeup in the summer is so not even an option. Yes, girls…I know. It is so hard to wear less when you are used to looking like a bombshell each and every day. Instead of discontinuing the use of products that I love, I have decided to switch things up and wear products that are fitting for the summer. See! Easy, right? Instead of wearing foundations, I opt for tinted moisturizers or BB creams. Instead of lipsticks, I may start showing my lips stains more love. And when it comes to the eyes, well, I could never be without SOMETHING on them. Luckily, I don’t have to be thanks to Revlon’s Bold Lacquer mascara and Revlon’s ColorStay Skinny Liquid Liner.

DSC_2875

Perfect for the gal who loves letting her eyes do the talking for her, both of these products can produce such an amazing daytime look without much effort. After all, who really has time to put on a ton of makeup before a big meeting? You really don’t need a ton of products on your eyes to look…glamorous. Also, I find this look particularly easy for Moms of little ones.

After applying an eye shadow color that is close to your complexion, take Revlon’s ColorStay Skinny Liquid Liner and apply it to to your lower lashline.

DSC_2643

I love everything about these liners. Not only do they last just about all day, but Revlon has given us such an amazing selection of colors. I typically wear black eyeliner on my lower lashline but when the summer hits, I like to be a bit more bold with the color and I fine Green Spark to be right up my alley. It is edgy enough to be fun and eye-catching but also conservative enough to be worn in professional settings. Green Spark also looks great on girls of all eye colors and I think it especially compliments us brown-eyed girls. Also, formula-wise, while many of these liners are too watery, ColorStay Skinny applies with ease. The applicator is clumsy girl friendly and what you’re left with are sweet and straight lines that last all day.

IMG_0606.CR2

But wait! You’re not done yet. If I don’t do anything else in the morning, I make sure to always apply mascara. Mascara is almost like magic because no one has to know that you stayed up last night binge watching your favorite show. Or that you are running on 3 hours of sleep because your baby decided that 4am was play time. Revlon’s Bold Lacquer mascara is not only great at making your eyes standout, but its lush black formula really gives the illusion of happier and more awake eyes.

DSC_2667

When used together, both Revlon’s ColorStay Skinny Liquid Liner and Revlon’s Bold Lacquer mascara is the double threat for chicas on the go this summer. I can’t get enough of both of them and will be tossing them both in my suitcase for when I travel this summer.

You can get both at Walmart!

Come oooon, Fall 2014. NARS has some fantastic things for us!

NARS Fall

I’m kinda ready for FAll. Yes, I know this is a little crazy considering Summer just started but quite frankly, I can’t enjoy summer. It’s just TOO hot, yo. That and the daily thunderstorms are seriously raining on my parade. Literally. I’ve got another reason to look forward to cooler weather and vampy shades. NARS Fall 2014 Fall collection Night Caller is seriously up my alley. Here’s what they are givin’ us…

Milani Perfection Liquid Liner Is…Perfect!

Milani Eye Tech Perfection Liquid Liner

Eyeliners. They’ve been around for decades. I don’t really know the history of them but I reckon that for quite some time that pencil eyeliners have been just that…in the shape of pencils. Liquid liners come in the same boring tubes with a brush and it looks like brands are wising up and trying to be a bit more creative. I was sent this Milani Eye Tech Perfection Liquid Liner some months back and for the past 2 weeks I’ve been using it non-stop.

Milani Eye Tech Liquid Liner

For one thing, I think it’s groovy! No really…this is the funkiest liquid eyeliner that I have ever seen. I know within the past few years other brands have been giving us these liquid liners with the interesting designs but I am here to say that Milani does a darn good job at their version of this. You can draw thick and thin lines with ease.

Milani Eye Tech Perfection Liquid Liner swatches

Released in February of 2014, this liquid eyeliner and its ergonomic handle has a water resistant and non-feathering formula. It applies with ease and sure, it takes a few tries to get it to fit comfortably in your hand and when you do…you’re hooked. Honestly, I don’t think this using THIS liquid liner is better than the traditional liquid eyeliner.

Milani Eye Tech Perfection Liquid Liner applicator

However, in terms of control I do feel like I have a better grip on thangs because my hands have more to hold on to versus a slim tube.

Milani Eye Tech Liner

I love how rich the black is and I  really do think this is such a great eyeliner for those just getting started with liquid eyeliner. Which, by the way, has never been easy for me to use. Melody of Cosmetically Challenged says that while she loves this eyeliner, it tends to get tacky for her during these warmer months so that’s something to think about….

This baby is available at CVS, Walgreens and Walmart and you can cop it here.

The best of Milani…

The Best Cream Eyeshadow of 2014

Let’s switch it up a bit. How about a post of mostly pictures and very few words?

Eyeliner on waterline

And all about an eyeliner…

Urban Decay Waterproof Cream Eyeliner

I mean, what more is there to say about such an incredible eyeliner?

Top of Urban Decay Perversion

I scooped up Urban Decay’s Super-Saturated Ultra Intense Waterproof Cream Eyeliner (whoaaaa, what a mouthful!) a few weeks ago. I’ve been using MAC’s Fluidline in Blacktrak for years. Years. It got all dried up and so I decided to try something new. Something relatively waterproof.

Urban Decay Perversion

Super creamy and doesn’t budge. UD nailed it with this one.

Urban Decay Perversion bottle

It doesn’t flake. And smudges nicely on the lid should you decide to use it as a base. It is such a luscious and creamy dark black.

Urban Decay Perversion cream eyeliner

Almost like a bright black. Does that make sense? Kinda? No. Okay. But you know what I mean, right?

Perversion on finger

Yes, girl. Yas!

Eyeliner

Closed eye - eyeliner

Sweet, right? Get Perversion here for $22. And then thank me later.

Ta ta, darlings.

Target Beauty – Pixi’s How To Video

Pixi

Look! It’s a gorgeous Pixi eyeliner! You’ve played around with the brand Pixi before, haven’t you? Sold exclusively at Target stores, this is brand that really doesn’t need much of an introduction. One look and you’ll be hooked. For serious. Target have these awesome Beauty How To videos floating on their website but I am head over heels in love with the Pixi look.

1_AuthorBadgeGLAMpink

I am all for fresh faced “natural” look. I mean, yesssss! The products used in that video can all be purchased at Target. I am most in love with the Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen. First of all, dear Pixi, how do you stay on all day without budging? I mean, seriously…what’s your secret?

Pixi at Target

I play around with many eyeliners but I have never seen one as silky and long-lasting as this one. Priced at $15, it’s on the expensive side for an eyeliner at Target, but you are totally getting your money’s worth. Of course I’m no professional so I couldn’t crank out a look as gorgeous as the one in that video. But can I smudge this liner with some blue liner on the water line? Why yes. Yes, I can.

Pixi Eyes

Not too shabby for an unprofessional, uh? My love affair with Pixi will be continuing year around.

It’s Time for Springtime.

It’s been a while since I’ve dabbled in Sephora’s eyeshadows but these are glorious. Especially that purple eyeshadow!

DSC_4193

It’s the perfect buy for both beauty newbies and professionals alike. The double-ended brush is a nice little edition.

Flashy Eyeliner set ($16)

DSC_4201

These eyeliners are nice and totable. But wait…they are waterproof too! Because of the shimmer, they may not last too long on the waterline but as eyeshadow bases and liners on the lower lashline, they are awesome! These remind me a lot like Urban Decay and Make Up For Ever’s pencils.

DSC_4202

DSC_4204

They’re pretty awesome and high-quality. Definitely an ideal stocking stuffer.

Sephora Gloss Lab ($25)

Ohmimgooodness, these are glooooorious. Especially for a lipgloss junkie. This set comes with 10 different glosses of various shades and finishes. They’re full-sized too!

DSC_4221

This is such an adorable set for the teenage beauty lover in your life because these aren’t super pigmented. They are all incredibly glossy and even the brightest shade isn’t so bright on the lips.

DSC_4222

Gilded Trio Brush set ($10 – available in stores)

DSC_4231

DSC_4239

Even though I have plenty of makeup brushes, I couldn’t help but go gaga over these. Do you see that gold! Do you?!

DSC_4241

These are just insane. 3 brushes at $10 isn’t too bad of a price, especially with the packaging being absolutely beautiful. The set includes a small powder brush, shadow brush and liner brush so it’s the perfect gift for the beauty beginner in your life.

24 Karat Gold Tweezers ($16)

And since we’re talking about pretty gold accessories, how about these tweezers? I actually own a regular pair of these and they are pretty precise.

Now. Let’s review…

5 beauty goodies under $30 for the beauty guys and girls in your life. Time to get to shoppin’!!

Gettin’ my tango on with Make Up For Ever’s Black Tango palette

Make Up For Ever is always coming out with products that make you go, “How did I live without this before?” And yeah, I know that sounds soooooo dramatic, but it’s so true. Take their aqua creams for example. As fantastic as they are, they are quite bulky sitting on my beauty table or travel tote. When I carry them, I usually only limit myself to 2 because they are heavy little pods. But this palette…

8168116492_4fbbf6c023_o

Well, it makes toting those aqua creams so much easier. And the color selection is right on. If you aren’t familiar with Make Up For Ever’s aqua cream, um…where have you been, ma’am? Aqua Creams are smudge-proof cream eye shadows and they don’t budge, fade or flake. And by don’t budge, I mean these things are practically like temporary tattoos. The durability is insane. And they aren’t just ideal for cream eye shadows. In fact, I like using them more as eyeliners on the lower lashline. But I’m gettin’ carried away. Back to the palette…

8168087191_1d7857a321_o

Make Up For Ever has given us 4 aqua creams: Black with Red Highlights, Black with Green Highlights, Black with Blue Highlights and Ivory. A high-quality double ended brush comes with the set as well. The compact is pretty, dainty and durable.

8168116754_0af5046427_o

The thing about aqua creams is they tend to dry out quickly if you don’t keep the top on them. And I mean, their tops have to be secured tightly. One of my favorite aqua creams recently dried out because I didn’t close the top well enough. It broke my heart. But Make Up For Ever thought about this and so each aqua cream has its own little top.

8168116196_3bc080ab05_o

8168115464_c754cf71f3_o

It’s a genius idea, really. You can use one cream without exposing all of the others. And just like the aqua creams that are housed in regular packaging, these are just as wonderful. They are super creamy but dry almost instantly. In fact, if you intend to use these on the eyes, you have to work quickly. I’m talkin’ within seconds. I also find that not just any makeup remover can remove these kids. I usually have to pull out my heavy duty oil-based removers. But they’re fantastic nonetheless and these are so much fun to work with.

8168114842_4de6fa6aae_o

Pretty, aren’t they? I think Make Up For Ever did a great job at providing us beauty junkies with shades that we could actually use. This is a Sephora-exclusive product and I’m pretty sure this won’t last forever so if you’re swooning, you may want to job on it with the ASAP-ness. You can grab it at Sephora and Sephora.com for $45.

Any aqua cream lovers in the house?

Urban Decay Smoked 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil set

Oh snitty-aaaaap! Urban Decay has another eyeliner set and of course eye am alllll over it. Hehe! See what I did there?

DSC_0898

First of all, if you haven’t tried any of Urban Decay’s eyeliners, you don’t know what you’re missin’. I’m not even exaggerating. Everything about their liners are awesome and they are definitely worth the $16 price tag. And this is coming from a cheap gal like myself. Yeah, I’ll testdrive drugstore eyeliners but for everyday use, I am always returning to Urban Decay’s Zero eyeliner. I can’t help it. I find it to be the blackest, most long-lasting awesomeness eyeliner everrrrrr. Oh, and they are paraben-free too which I know is important to a lot of folx.

This set is the newest UD eyeliner set on the block and it’s pretty rad. Mostly because a great deal of the shades are wearable for all makeup lovers. Now before you get too excited, these are the travel version of the eyeliners but whatever because if you’re like me, you’ll get good use out of ‘em nonetheless.

DSC_0901

Urban Decay has a set of eyeliners with bolder colors but I like how every shade in this collection is wearable and practical. For $38, you’ll get 6 eyeliners that are perfect for use on the lower lashline, as an eyeshadow base and my favorite, on the waterline. As a gal with insanely sensitive eyes, I find Urban Decay’s liners to be the BEST when it comes to all day wear. I can apply a liner on my waterline at 7am and I can always guarantee that by 7pm, it’ll still be there. Even if I’ve sweated, cried or dunk my face in a bucket of water. Yep.

Say hello to the sexy 6.

DSC_0902(L-R)Uzi, Zero, Demolotion, Smog, Empore, Mainline

Pretty stuff. uh? The fantastic gunmetal shimmer that is Uzi will be gorgeous with a smokey eye. Zero and Demolotion are both black and brown mattes and Smog is the bronze-y version of Uzi. The last two are my favorite. Obviously, right?

Empore is some kind of awesome.

DSC_0916

…and it’s really hard to explain what color it is because there are so many colors intertwined. It’s a bluey purple. It probably looks different on different eye colors but on me it looks a bit more purple, uh?

And then there’s Mainline…

DSC_0915

Such a rich and beautiful teal. Corporate America or not, I will most certainly rock these shades to work. They’re that pretty but also that unassuming. So yeah. If you’re a typical black or brown eyeliner gal but want to step outside of the box a bit, this collection is totally up your alley.

And it should also be up your alley because it’s Urban Decay. Nuff said. These are currently available on both Sephora.com and UrbanDecay.com. If you find the price to be a little too steep, keep your eyes peeled for deals and sales at both Sephora and on UrbanDecay’s website. They come around pretty frequently and it’s the best time to stock up on your beauty lemmings.

Now tell me…which shade is your fave?
