Black Opal Mineral Mosaic eyeshadow palettes

Okay my darlings…what you are about to see may leave you with your mouth open. And so with that said, don’t scroll down any further unless you are prepared to support your jaw. Ready?

I mean…wow.

Have y’all seen these in your drugstores yet? Black Opal is SO impressing me with these palettes. I am going to be reviewing each palette individually. Here’s what you should know about them.

-You can get them from drugstores (I’ve seen them at Target stores too)
-They are hypoallergenic
-Oil free
-Talc free
-Paraben free
-Fragrance free
-Retailed at $8.95

Not bad for a drugstore buy, uh? Let me introduce you to Gold Galaxy!

I wore a look from this palette in this video. Gold Galaxy is perfect for summer. Just look at that orange and gold!

And here’s what I’m thinking as far as shadow placement:

And of course you can switch it up, if you like. Like 4 on the lid with 3 blended up into the crease and 5 as a highlight. Yes girl! The options can go on forever!

A few swatches…

The texture of the shadows in this palette are on the frosty side and require a bit of a creamy base if you have issues with frost. Still a functional and diverse palette for super cheap. I love it!

Stay tuned for up close shots of the other 3 kiddies.

Mascara Monday: Korres Provitamin B5 and Rice Bran mascara

Jasmine rice. Check! Brown rice. Check! Rice and beans. Oh yeah! I love me some rice, y’all. This starch just makes me smile. Never would have thought that I would be reviewing a mascara that has rice in it though. Leave it to Korres to come up with such. Ahhh Korres…a brand I have dabbled in and have yet to formally introduce to the Clumps fam. No better time like the present. Introducing….

Korres Provitamin B5 and
Rice Bran mascara

Price: 3 out of 5 ($18.00)
Packaging (Brush Wand): 2 out of 5
Overall: 5 out of 5

What it claims:“Lash-strengthening mascara naturally volumizes thin and brittle lashes, while adding length and deep pigment
• Nourishes lashes with a non-clumping buildable formula, providing maximum lash health
• Provitamin B5, a proven natural hair strengthener, improves both the length and number of lashes, treating them while adding drama to the eye
• Rice Bran natural extract expands (just like rice does in water) to provide maximum lash length, volume, and fullness. “(source)

The truth:I am totally impressed!

What I loved about it: Is that volume I see?

What I didn’t like: It has a plant-y smell but this is to be expected from natural mascaras. No big problem but I can see how it may bother others.

Overall: Well, I don’t know what else to say other than I’m impressed. No, really…this is a dynamic mascara. I was sent this mascara some time ago and it sat and sat for months before I even touched it. By the time I went to grab it, it had dried out. Off to Sephora I went to purchase it for myself. I didn’t have high expectations because well…just check out the review of my first natural mascara here. This baby blew me away. I love the volume that it gave me. I didn’t get a TON of length but enough to keep me quiet. My lashes also remained soft and weightless.

Buuuut, if I had to change one thing about it, it would be the wand.

It doesn’t make for the easiest application. Especially if you have smaller lashes and lids. I would love to see this with a lash comb-esque kind of wand. It would make for better separation and enhanced length.

But other than that, I’m sold! Unlike other natural mascaras, this one was able to withstand Floridian humidity without flaking or just oozing off of my lids. Oh…and yes, it does smell funka-licious. It doesn’t bother me though. It’s the price you pay if you’re looking for a natural mascara. Aaaand, it comes in different colors including grey green. Now that’s dope.

Lashes without mascara
(did NOT curl lashes)

Lashes with 2 coats of mascara

Would I recommend it?:I do! I receive a great deal of emails from ladies who are looking for natural mascaras and this is one I would definitely recommend. It works and although the price is a little steep, I think it’s worth it.Has anyone tried this mascara?

Whatcha think?

A crazed mascara reviewer,

What would you do for longer lashes?

Have you ever thought about it?

I mean, really….

Clumps of Mascara focuses on all areas of beauty with mascara (obviously) being the product we show the most love to. I enjoy reviewing them because the demand is there and for whatever reason a lot of us are sooo in love with the idea of having thicker and longer lashes.

But how far would you go?

Check out this parody. It makes you think…

Thoughts? Funny? Scary? Or are you just speechless?

Thanks Aziza

Spring time, baby!

Dear Newbies,

Spring is here. And being that I am a native to Florida, I love love love it! I get to spend more time outside by the beach, pool, at theme parks and festivals and just enjoying the weather. This makes Year 2 of my make-up/beauty obsession and I have to say, I have learned a TON since last year. Here are my Top Spring/Summer Tidbits for Newbies.

Wear Bronzers

I’ve stopped wearing face make-up but that doesn’t mean that I don’t want some kind of glow. My new Bobbi Brown Shimmerbrick is perfect for a Springy/Summer glow.

And I know it’s a bit on a pricey side (ahem, $42) but yall gotta trust me on this one. Such a great investment! And I’m sure there are better dupes out there (namely Milani) but I’ve been having dreams about this Shimmerbrick since December of last year. I swirl my MAC 182 brush in this and lightly brush it on the apples of my cheeks. A little goes a long way and it gives me a noticeable but subtle shimmer. I love it! I didn’t think that darker skinned women could pull of bronzers, but honeyyyyy, we sho can. I’ll show you in the FOTDs to come.

Minimal Eye Shadows

I already have oily lids so going through the hassles of putting on 1-2 bases and 2-4 eye shadow colors on just isn’t something that I look forward to in the summertime. Instead, I just sweep a highlight under my brows. I still look “made up” but with little effort. Vanilla pigment is my HG highlight and looks great when applied with a fluffy brush.

Pretty Pouts

My lips aren’t always so hot in the winter time because they tend to be drier. But during spring/summer, I love bustin’ pretty and rich colors. Yes, girl…even at the beach while sippin’ a pina colada. Pretty lips give the face instant glam! And lip products don’t even have to be top of the line.

Ya feel me? $1.72 for N.Y.C. Gotta love it!

Fab nail colors with cute sandals

And when I say fab nail colors, I mean alllll colors! Orange, green, yellow, pink, purple, fire engine red….any and every color. And I love designer shoes like a lot of females but I also love to save some money and get twice as many pairs at Payless. Shooo…..I ain’t shame. I think these are mad cute for only $10.

And with colors like these….

(thanks Yums)

You couldn’t tell me anything…

So, see, newbsters…spring/summertime is great for us! Last year I spent a lot of time coming up with make-up designs with my terrible skills. This post is a great example of that. This time around I plan on taking it easy on the face, checking out new collections and perfecting liner on the lower lash line. That’s my project of the season!

How it alll began…..

June 6, 2007
…pretty obsessed with eye make-up. And I don’t exactly know how this came about. I used to be anti make-up. My younger sisters taught me how to put on eye liner and mascara. And I JUST recently bought my first foundation.

At the age of 22. And I never felt like I NEEDED to wear make make-up. I always felt pretty and have good skin….but I have become so engaged in eye make-up designing. MAC, the company is the vanguard, in the make-up world. I go in the stores and loose my mind over the colors, brushes and designs.

I, too….want to create beautiful combinations and have eyes that pop out. From everyday combos to crazy and eccentric sets, I want to master the art of eye make-up.
The end.

This picture is defintely motivation. And it’s pretty ugly, I must admit! It was taken in October 2006 when I FIRST got the itch to work on eye make-up. Ugghhh, terrible. But hopefully but this upcoming October, I can look at this and laugh!

The Mascara Bin

Reviewing mascaras isn’t an easy job…but someone has to do it. Someone has to be be honest and tell you if that newly released mascara is not worth your dollars.Or if the “most talked about mascara” is really worth the hype.

Below you will a list of all of the mascaras I have reviewed on Clumps of Mascara. Keep in mind that these opinions are based off of MY experiences. If I gave a mascara that you absolutely love low ratings, who knows—maybe I had a bad tube. In which case you are more than welcome to purchase another tube for me. HA! I’m kidding. But no two mascara wearers have the same kind of lashes and different mascaras give us different results. More than anything, my reviews will at least give you a first glance at the the look and feel of the wand, the mascara’s formula and a general assessment on whether or not the mascara may work for you.
