Color Secrets Professional goodies

Emerald Green and Fuschia Pink

I recently received some Color Secrets Professional products and I have to say…I really like them.

Color Secrets polishes

Color Secrets Polishes are 100% vegan, cruelty free, and Big 3 Free. They have a great shine quality to them so if you do not have time to put on a top coat these are perfect for you. There will be 144 colors available for you to love and purchase for only $3.99 a pop.

Color Secrets lipglosses

When it comes to lipgloss I am as boring as you could get. I stick with the clears  and maybe a light shimmer. The shades didn’t have colors on them, but I loved them all! The pink adds a great pop of color that will brighten up any outfit and the shimmer has a subtle sexiness that highlights your lips. I carry these two with me everywhere. They are a tad sticky for my taste but still perfect.

Color Secrets mascara

Mascara is one of my favorite beauty products and something I will not leave the house with. I love mascara so much that I have a emergency tube in my car just in case I forget to put it on at home. Color Secrets Professional Rich Jewels Color Mascara is a lot of fun and something you will definitely want to purchase. I used the Fuchsia Pink and Emerald Green and I love it. It is not something that you would wear to work or during an interview, but it something fun to add when you are going out on the town. As much as I loved it, it is not the greatest lengthening mascara. My suggestion is put on your favorite mascara first to get your length and then put on the color mascara to get your color and length. The rich jewel mascara comes in 6 hues and they are only $3.99 each.

Eggplant and Emerald Green

Along with the colorful mascara Color Secrets has rich jewel gel eyeliner which is gorgeous. I am just now learning how to use gel eyeliner and I love how smooth and easy this is. At a price of $5.99 this might turn into my go to gel eye-liner.

Color Secrets Professional products are available at select Walgreens locations and available online .

Do you see yourself using Color Secrets Professional products?

butter LONDON doesn’t just sell polishes. But you knew that…right?

So butter LONDON makes more than just nail polish. Did you know that? I knew but then I forgot. They do nail polishes so well that I’ve never really had to the desire to spend my money on any of their other products. Years ago I tried their lipgloss and it was so insanely fragranced that I vowed to never try any of their Lippys again.

Butter London

Well, that was forever and a day ago and I couldn’t NOT try these samples that I got in the mail. I’m no fool. bL has lips, cheeks and eye products but when you visit their site, you’ll see that it’s really the nail products that they display.

Butter LONDON Cosmetics

Not that I’m complain’. There’s a reason why I collect buttahs. But let’s take a closer look at some of their other beauties.

The Wink Eye Pencils are a lot like the eye pencils from many other brands. Nothing fancy but the formula is nice, smooth, build-able and it doesn’t budge. Like at all.

Butter LONDON Wink

My swatch of Cheerio (a gilded yellow shimmer) stayed put a few minutes after application. I don’t really know how to wear yellows well, but honey, I’ll be trying because this is gorgeous. It goes for $18.

Butter LONDON Cheerio

bL also has a nice selection of creamy eyeshadows. Okay, so honestly…I’ve never been a fan of these type of products. My lids are insanely oily and I have the toughest time getting these creamy products to adhere. Still, Sun Kiss WINK Cream Eye Shadow is nice and muted gold that will complement many skin tones. It also goes for $18. And back to the Lippys…

Butter LONDON Lippy

GOOD NEWS! They don’t smell like flowers on speed anymore. Yay! The subtle whiff of vanilla didn’t trigger a headache and all was well. It’s a thick gloss and like many sheerer glosses like this, the color in the tube does not translate on your lips.

Butter LONDON Lippy Twee

Yeah. I kinda hate when that happens. If the tube is pink, I want pink, bro! But hey, Twee is cool with me. The added moisturization kept my normally ashy lips in check and for that, I am grateful. Such awesomeness will run you $20. And then there’s Chuffed…

Butter LONDON Chuffed

I won’t spend too much time here because we already know how much I want bL to run for President, but yeah…this full coverage, shimmery bright orange is stunnning.

Overall, I think butter LONDON does well with cosmetics. The price points are a bit higher than I think they should be, but fans will appreciate the diverse colors, great formulas and nice collections that they come out with.

Have you tried anything other than nail polish from buttah?

IMAN CC Correct & Cover Powder to Creme Concealer – 5 Reasons Why You May Want To Buy It

IMAN CC Correct & Cover Powder to Creme Concealer

I used to think concealer was pointless. It seemed like an added and unnecessary step. Especially for those of us who really don’t want to spend hoursssss getting ready in the morning. But I received a press sample of this and once again, IMAN Cosmetics has won my heart with another amaziiiiing product of theirs and so I am giving you 5 reasons why this concealer is fantastic.

IMAN CC Cover

1. It stays put. Because the powder turns into a creme, you don’t have to worry about it oozing down your face. You can set it…and forget it!

2. The powder makes for fantastic application and the creme makes for great longevity.

3. A little goes a long way. Just a tap on fingertips provides enough product for me to conceal under both eyes.

4. It does a great job at brightening the area under the eyes. If I’m going to use a concealer under my eyes, I also want it to make that area appear brighter. This works!

5. It plays nicely with my powder. Some concealers are snobs and don’t like to make friends with foundations. Not the case with this stuff. She is such a sweet heart and complements my powders beautifully.

IMAN CC on hand

IMAN CC blended

Not too bad, huh? I’m wearing Earth Medium, the 4th spectrum of the 5 that IMAN is giving us. The only problem I have with IMAN Cosmetics is that sometimes it can be a bit difficult finding their products in stores. While some Targets and drugstores regularly stock IMAN stuff, others only carry a limited supply or nothing at all. Boo and double boo. But this is why the World Wide Web can be your friend. You can score this stuff at Drugstore.com for $15.

The one downfall? I wish the packaging for this was different.

IMAN CC Correct

I’m not sure how brands can effectively give us a powder to creme concealer but I’m not sure this one works. Do I use my fingers each time and risk contaminating the whole jar? Do I use a sponge-y thingie or Beauty Blender and not get the powder benefits? See the dilemma?

Either way, still another fantastic product from IMAN Cosmetics.

Soooo About Eyeglasses…1 Pair? Or Many?

DSC_0590

This post is  brought to you by Zenni eyeglasses and it has been a hot little minute since I’ve been shopping for eyeglasses. Once upon a time a very loooooong time ago, I actually spent hundreds of dollars on my eyeglasses. I did. I was foolish enough to think that I could only purchase my eyeglasses in the same little office where I had my office exams. It just made sense, right? Exam + purchase = a happy girl with her vision correction. And then I discovered Zenni eyeglasses and I have seen the light.

I remember when eyeglasses were primarily for people that actually needed the vision correction. Now and days, eyeglasses are a fashion accessory. Some people rock ’em…for no reason, actually. And hey, if that’s your thing, who am I to knock it? But seriously, if you’re going to spend money on non-prescription glasses, it could help if said glasses didn’t cost you an arm and a leg, am I right?

Zenni rocks because you can snag fashionable and gorgeous frames for affordable prices. The “nerd” look appears to be in style (which is crazy because when I was growing up, it definitely wasn’t a style…ha!) and Zenni has a nice selection of larger frames that will likely fit girls and guys of all face shapes.

I’ve managed to put 3 different frames in my cart and to my guys and girls that rock eyeglasses, riddle me this…do you stick with 1 pair of glasses or do you tend to switch it up a bit? I’m not able to do change my frames everyyyyyday, but I kinda like the idea of having a few bold frames and then 1 or 2 neutral and professional frames.

What say you?

Mascara Monday: Too Faced Better Than False Lashes mascara

Too Faced Better Than False Lashes

Ohmigoodness. Seriously? Seriously?!! Why didn’t anyone tell me about this mascara? I mean, I knew about its release and I know I’ve been a bit behind with this whole blogging thing, but I recently got a press sample of it and someone should have totally told me about this mascara months ago. Because, woooooow. I am just….wow.

Can I just be lazy and do a blog post about a mascara and say “Wow”? Would y’all still love me if I did that?

Too Faced Better Than False Lashes mascara

I don’t think you would. Okay, then…full review it is, then.

Price: $35 from Sephora and  from TooFaced.com.
Packaging (brush wand): 5 out of 5
Overall: 4.5 out of 5

What It Claims: “This no-glue, totally glam-azing formula lets you have all the drama of false lashes in an easy, safe, 3-step process.” (source)

The Truth: I have never seen anything like this. And yes, that’s a good thing but wow…I wonder why more people aren’t talking about this mascara.

What I Loved About It: While at first glance it may appear intimidating, it is actually very easy to use.

What I Didn’t Like: I don’t think it provides as much volume as it “could” but that’s okay. What it can do in the lengthening department completely rocked my world.

Overall: So I’m still just wee bit shocked that this mascara isn’t more popular. I’m thinking the price tag of $35 is the reason but c’mon…I see higher-end brands that always price their mascaras at that price. This is out of the ordinary for Too Faced, and honestly, I’m starting to see why they can justify a hefty price tag for this mascara. It really is THAT awesome.

I won’t write a book here but I do want to quickly go through how this works. You ready?

  • The mascara comes with 2 separate wands. Each are labeled so that you know when to use them.
  • You a thin coat of the first mascara. This acts as a sticky base.
  • You then apply the second mascara. The second mascara looks like a tube of lint (no really, it does).
  • You then apply a second coat of the first mascara.

Let’s take a look at these wands…

Too Faced Better Than False Lashes wands

They both are nice and long and will easily comb through lashes. This, I believe, is a very important aspect in this system. Sephora has a really good breakdown for what the system actually does.

The activating mascara base and top coat is designed specifically to melt and seal the Flexistretch nylon fibers into long, thick, dramatic lashes without the risk, mess, or commitment of other false lash alternatives. Unlike traditional fiber mascaras, Better Than False Lashes allows you to dial up the lengthening fibers so you easily get better, longer, thicker, more dramatic lashes instantly. (source)

In a sense, it is A LOT like a fiber mascara. Remember those? They were pretty big around in 2012 and 2013 but have fallen off of the grid a bit. I’ve always loved them and I hate that they aren’t as popular but I am loving Too Faced’s rendition of a fiber mascara. Having a mascara tube of the “fibers” is just genius because it allows to place it anywhere on your lashes.

Too Faced BEtter Than False Lashes Step 1

A second coat of the mascara turns the white fibers black and they blend in nicely and look, yes, like false lashes but…naturally. I love it!

Too Faced BEtter Than False Lashes step 2

The biggest downfall is that if your goal is to achieve thick and luscious lashes, it may be hard to do with this as getting the fibers close to the base of your lashes may result in fiber thingies falling into your eyes.

And removal is super easy. It’s just like removing a fiber mascara. You wet your fingertips and gently massage the lashes. This also means that you won’t have any issues with smudging or flaking so…yay!

And that makes me sad because y’all know how much I love Drag Queen lashes.

Too Faced mascara

Do I recommend it?: I do! Especially if you need something new in your mascara collection. While some may find it tricky or necessary, I loved how much longer this mascara made my lashes. Isn’t ideal to use in pinch (or for reapplication) but if you’ve got 5 minutes, extra pennies and want to seriously lengthen your lashes, you will LOVE this mascara.

So um…why didn’t any of you tell me how awesome this mascara was? I thought you were friends. I have a sad.

Mascara Monday: NYX Voluptuous Lush Lashes mascara

NYX Voluptuous mascara

Look at that. NYX has done it again. They are giving us another collection of mascaras! I can’t decide if I like this or not. What do you think? Would you rather a brand release all of their mascara at one time or would you prefer them to sprinkle it throughout the year? I think I prefer the latter. I like little surprises. But, on a good side, NYX is like “Wait…what’s that you said, girlfriend? You need your mascara to do what? Boom. We got that.” And they do. They have mascaras for practically every need.

First up is Voluptuous…
NYX Lush Lashes Voluptuous
Thick in the waist, isn’t she?

Price: $7 from Ulta and  from NYXCosmetics.com.
Packaging (brush wand): 3 out of 5
Overall: 3 out of 5

What It Claims: “Have them guessing if they’re real or not with this well endowed formula. The thick tapered brush builds volume and is also ideal for reaching even the tiniest lashes.” (source)

The Truth: The truth is I am dead at the words “well endowed” being used to describe mascara. I have literally passed away. My ghost has typed this post up.

What I Loved About It: With a wand this thick, you would expect the mascara to be on the messy side, but nope…the formula is lightweight and so applying is super easy.

What I Didn’t Like: While the formula and the wand play nicely together, the formula itself isn’t thick enough to really hold on to lashes and produce dramatic results.

Overall: I love me some NYX and I always look forward to the awesomeness that they ALWAYS bring with each new season. They never let me down and even when I come across a product that’s just so so, the next one blows me away. That said, perhaps my favorite aspect about this mascara is the wand.

Mascara wand

Wands like this, I think, are ideal for those who already have nice and thick lashes. Oh, and those folx whose lashes all go in the same direction? Yeah. This wand rocks. People who suffer from WLS (wonky lash syndrome) have a difficult time this wands like these because they are so large and in charge that they don’t really allow you to come through the lashes.  Separating? Forgot about it. Your lashes better already be in check because trying to comb through the lashes with a wand this big is tough stuff, bro. Honestly, NYX needs to write a book on how to the stopper and big mascara wands work because they, unlike so many other brands, have figured it out.

Mascara tube

The formula is nice and thick and applies easily. It also removes easily too and I didn’t experience any smudging or flaking throughout the day. But with a name like Voluptuous, I would expect a mascara with a thicker formula. A thicker formula would adhere to my lashes a bit better and give me some more Drag Queen realness. But nope. I didn’t get much of that.

And that makes me sad because y’all know how much I love Drag Queen lashes.

Do I recommend it?: It depends. If you have thick and plump lashes and you’re looking for a mascara that will coat your lashes nicely without providing clump, you’ll love this. If you are like me and have relatively puny lashes that you expect to like INSANELY awesome with a mascara who has the word voluptuous in its name, then nope…save you pennies for one of NYX’s better mascaras.

So. What time are you rollin’ with? Puny Lash Crew or Long Lash Entourage?

Mascara Monday: Hard Candy Ginormous Lash mascara

It’s been a minute since I’ve reviewed a mascara from Hard Candy. I received this for review quite some time ago and I’ve been testing this baby for a good 2 weeks. Which, is now, starting to become my standard. I used to review a mascara for at least a week, but I don’t know…a lot of good (and bad) can happen in 2 weeks.

Hard Candy Ginormous Lash mascara wand

Such was the case with this mascara.

Hard Candy Ginormous Lash mascara

Price: $6 from Walmart and Walmart.com
Packaging (brush wand): 3 out of 5
Overall: 3 out of 5

What It Claims: “Ginormous Volumizing Mascara infused with Growth Serum helps promote long-term lash growth, strength and vitality. Apply and watch as Ginormous plus Growth Serum stimulates your lashes to appear longer, fuller and stronger with regular use.” (source)

The Truth: Meh.

What I Loved About It: The wand works beautifully at really bringing out the lashes.

What I Didn’t Like: It didn’t volumize my lashes enough.

Overall: Well. I like Hard Candy. I really do. I think some of their polishes are freaking awesome and when it comes to budget makeup, you can always depend on them to step outside of the box and give us bold color and whatnot. They’ve got a slew of mascaras to pick from and any brand that gives me several mascaras to buy is alright with me.

This mascara not only promises to give crazy voluminous lashes but it is also supposed to help grow the lashes. I only reviewed this for 2 weeks, so I can’t speak much to that claim but the volumizing. It’s just okay. Really, it’s nothing monumental. And neither is the wand.

Mascara wand

I’m starting to prefer the plush brush wands over the plastic ones because you can really build up volume with them. So yes, for helping plump those lashes up, this wand works great. The formula is just so so. It wasn’t overly thick or thin but I felt like I had to apply a ton of coats for it to really show a lil’ somethin’. And said somethin’ was very minimal. Even after 3 coats, I didn’t feel as if I had much on my lashes. Some mascara lovers love the lightweight mascara feel and I do too, but only if my lashes look coated! And they just didn’t with this mascara. Boo. And double boo. But on a good note, I didn’t experience any smudging or flaking. Which is always a good thing. It’s an average mascara at best.

Do I recommend it?: I wouldn’t break my neck running to Walmart to get it but if you’re a lightweight mascara lover, you may appreciate it. However, if you’re like me and love those drag queen lashes, you may find this one a wee bit disappointing.umph!

Are you a fan of mascara with growth serums dumped in them?

Mascara Monday: POP Beauty No Clump Comb mascara

I’m trying to stay active with doing Mascara Monday posts because they are the real bread and buttah at Clumps of Mascara. Plus I feel so bad when I get emails from y’all that are like “I was soooo looking forward to a mascara review today. My life is now ruined because you didn’t post one. Gahhhh!!!”

Okay, they are never that dramatic but I still feel bad. I’m going to try crazy hard to keep cranking them out but do know that the blog may be running slowly in the next few weeks as I adjust to this new job. Oh yeah, and the holidays. .

What I definitely didn’t have to adjust to though, is POP Beauty’s No Clump Comb mascara. Just wait until you see the awesomeness that is the wand of this mascara. Just wait…

POPBeauty POP Beauty No Clump Comb mascara

*squeals*

POPBeauty POP Beauty No Clump Comb mascara wand
Price: $18.50 from Beauty.com
Packaging (brush wand): 5 out of 5
Overall: 4 out of 5

What It Claims: “Dramatically unique mascara for no clump application! Fine-toothed comb separates & extends individual lashes, leaving them inked out, volumized and curled. No-smudge, waterproof formula keeps lashes curled & gives this master mascara a 12h+ lash-life” (source)

The Truth: I heard birds singing.

What I Loved About It: The wand! Ooooh, the wand!

What I Didn’t Like: My lashes didn’t thicken up much with this but still…the wand!

Overall: I didn’t know much about this mascara before I tried it. I’ve heard of the brand POP Beauty but I hadn’t heard much about their mascaras. And then I received a sample of this in the mail. The packing was so so. The name didn’t make me want to do cartwheels and so I tossed it to the side for a few moons.

And then something told me to pick it up. And thats when I saw this…

POPBeauty POP Beauty No Clump Comb

Do you see that wand?! Do you see that? Look at it! It’s reminiscent of Maybelline’s Lash Stylist wand…one of my favorite mascaras ever! I reviewed that mascara sooooo long ago and it’s been a minute since I’ve thought about it. I don’t know why so many brands got rid of the beloved lash comb style wand but I’ve always liked them. Especially since I have crazy wonky and crazy lashes. Lash combs breeze right through my lashes and make everything better. They’re wonderful!

And it doesn’t matter if they don’t provide a ton of volume. It’s the combing through the lashes that really makes me jump for joy. So yes! I am so excited about this mascara. Did it provide added length and volume? No, not really. But did it comb my lashes to perfection and prep them to be mascara’d up by a mascara with a plush brush? YES!
