Kale Chips: The Life-Changing Snack

I’ve talked about them before and even did a video highlighting them but I never did a formal post on my beloved kale chips. You don’t have to be a vegan or vegetarian (I’m not) to appreciate greens and incorporate them on a regular basis in your dietary plans. Trust me when I tell you, when you try kale chips, you’ll be hooked. Or at least a liiiiiittle more open when it comes to eating leafy greens.

Ingredients for this recipe would be:

-1 bushel of kale (preferably organic)
-2 or 3 tbsp of olive oil
-Seasonings of your choice (sea salt, lemon pepper, garlic, etc)

Food Yum: Boston Market for lunch

Any fans of Boston Market? On days when Mama Clumps didn’t feel like cooking, Boston Market was always an option for my sister and I. After all, how many fast food joints can you find that DOESN’T serve burgers and fries? So as far as a healthier alternative, B.Market is definitely a better one.  Two of my co-workers wanted to grab some lunch and considering it’s a serious rarity that I don’t bring my own lunch, I decided to tag along.

Not a bad price for lunch, uh?

Yummers!

Giveaway! Free pizza and cutting board from Freschetta!

I’m a pizza lover. Y’all know this because MOST of the posts in the Food Yum series are about pizza. I can’t deny just how obsessed I am with a piping hot slice of pizza. Nom nom nom! But on days when I’m leaving work late and don’t have time to cook anything (not that I want to. Boo cooking!), I’m opening the freezer and grabbin’ a Freschetta pizza. Ohmigoodness, have y’all tried their pizzas yet? In-sane! I’m a thick crust pizza lover gal by nature, but I love these thin crust pizzas and how they don’t give you that “I’m so full-I’m about to bust” feeling.

Food Yum: Veggie Lovers Unite!

I wasn’t always a vegetable lover. Which is tragic since we all know how good vegetables are for you. But since I’ve incorporating green smoothies and a pretty green lifestyle to my diet, you can’t keep me away from veggies. I try to get at least 3 servings every day. Although I do struggle on the weekends. 8)

Some days vegetables are all I crave. Hence why I ate quite the random dinner the other night.

That’s a sweet potato and edamame. Any edamame lovers in the house?

I could seriously eat these pods every day. What’s your favorite vegetable? And although it’s a veggie, I don’t really think corn counts. I mean it does but not really. ;) By the way, did you know that loading up on veggies is one of the easiest ways to cut calories? If you’re dieting, give yourself a boost by snacking on your favorite vegetables, topped with clinically-proven Sensa.

Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza giveaway!

If y’all haven’t noticed already, I’m not JUST a beauty blogger. In fact, sometimes I wonder if I should even call myself that anymore.  I feel like “lifestyle blogger” is more fitting.. Don’t get me wrong, Clumps of Mascara will always be Beauty 1st, but the world is huge. And I love sharing photography, events, food and total randomness with you guys.

That said, who wants free pizza?

Food Yum: Lee Roy Selmon’s

Although this restaurant is only native to a few cities in West Central Florida, I still felt the need to review it because it is one of my favorites. I first discovered Lee Roy Selmon’s when I was a student at the University of South Florida in Tampa. I recently took a trip back to my old college town and had to hit up one of my favorite BBQ/southern fixings joints.

Food Yum: The BEST snack ever! Got almonds?

My name is Brittany and I’m a snacker. I’m not ashamed either. I have long ditched that 3 meals a day philosophy. I eat breakfast, lunch and dinner and have snacks in between. The old me would snack on chips, cookies, Gushers (oh wait…I STILL eat those) or crap that would make me gain 5 lbs in 2.3 hours. But since I try to be a little more conscious about what I stuff my face with, I’ve been loving almonds. I keep a stash at work.

And I keep them in my purse and pull ‘em out at the movies, during meetings or snack on ‘em at trips to the beach.

Almonds are fantastico. I’d be a mean beauty blogger if I didn’t let you know that although almonds are GREAT for you, they tend to be calorie and fat-laden. 1 oz (or 13) raw almonds is equivalent to 14 grams of fat and 160 calories. Yikes is right. As with anything, moderation is the key and I only eat a 6 or so almonds per snack. And if I could thank an almond tree, I would. From almond butter to almond milk to Sweet Almond Oil, it seems like everything extracted from this nut is golden.

Any almond lovers in this house? Or do you prefer another type of nut? Check out this link to find out just how beneficial almonds are.

Food Yum: Lunch at CRAVE

It may look like it but I promise I don’t eat out THAT much. I prepare most, if not all of my lunches before I head to work and for dinner…I usually wing it.

But I enjoy exploring some of Orlando’s restaurants and sharin’ them with y’all. Especially with Orlando being a hot tourist spot. If you’ve never been, you should definitely start planning a family trip or getaway with the girls. I’ve been to CRAVE 2 or 3 times before and have never been disappointed. I mean…just look at how delicious this pasta looks.
