L’Oreal HIP Color Chrome Eyeliners

I loooove these thangs, y’all.
Yes I said thangs. You know it’s serious when you have to bring out the slang. HA!
No really. I am so glad that Walgreens had these babies BOGO (buy 1, get 1 free). The Color Chrome eyeliners are fairly new to the L’Oreal HIP family. At first glance, I was skeptical about them. I’ve been disappointed by a few drugstore eyeliners that claimed to give you rich and long-lasting color. But I’ve also been pleased by a few too so I definitely wanted to know where L’O HIP stood.
Check out the kids I took home….
(Top-Bottom)
Green Flash
Gold
Silver Lightning
If you are looking to add metallic liners to your make-up stash, you will LOVE these. I found that you can even make them wearable for conservative work looks. I’ve got green flash on my waterline.
Gold Charge and Silver Lightning are beautiful as well!

They apply extra smoothly–no worrying about tugging on the eyes.

Are they waterproof?
Well, I guess you’ll have to watch my video to see.

Not bad for $9.99 but even better for buy 1, get 1 free. Love love LOVE these kids. And I think I’m going to grab some more.
Have you tried them yet? Do tell!

Beauty Review: L’Oreal Cream Shadow paint

Yo yo lay-dees!!

So I got a TON of responses and emails from my L’Oreal HIP matte and metallic eyeshadow duos review. Which tells me….y’all really like L’Oreal HIP. Which is a good thing. I think this is a great drugstore brand that delivers higher end quality. I highly recommend purchasing L’Oreal HIP products when they go on sale at your local drugstores. I know for a fact that Walgreens and CVS regularly have L’Oreal HIP products on sale every week or so.

Time to review the paints!

L’Oreal HIP Cream
Shadow paint in Witty

Price: 3 out of 5 ($3-$12 at drugstores, Target stores and of course, online)
Packaging: 5 out of 5
Overall: 5 out of 5

What it claims:
“Paint a new world of color with HiP high intensity pigments™ Cream Shadow Paint. Use the perfectly smooth shadow alone for luminous all over color or use as a base under HiP shadow for a more intense look.” (source)

The truth:
This is a pretty fantabulous base. Wait….forget base, it works well as an eye shadow too!

What I loved about it: The packaging makes me feel like some artist. And my face is the drawing board. HA!

What I didn’t like: There isn’t much that I don’t like about these things. Well….wait, they could be a little cheaper. Actually, a lot cheaper.

Overall: So if you are a total newb to these paints, I know you’re lookin’ around like,

“B….it looks cool and all, but what in the world does it do?”

Okay okay…let’s go back to square one. These paints can be used as an eye shadow base. Or even as a cream eyeshadow. They in assist in ensuring that the eyeshadow you do use on top of it lasts all friggin’ day. I’m talkin’ NO creasing. If you decide to wear it alone, it works well too.

They are easy to apply. You can use a stiff brush or opt for your fingers. I find that the latter works easiest. I feel more in control when I am using my fingers. While application may be easy, it is important to blend these paints in. Nothing worse than looking in the mirror and noticing that your base is unblended. It can throw off your entire look. And y’all know I know from experience. LOL!

Now let’s see this bad boy in action.

Here is L’Oreal’s Cream Paint in Witty blended on my hand….

Do you see how this color in particular doubles so nicely as a base AND a shadow? It has enough color to make for a nice neutral eye but not TOO much color to where it would dramatically change the color of an eyeshadow.

*two snaps for the kid*

My eye with nothing on it…

My eye with Witty paint on it…

And then if I’m in a hurry but want to do a little somethin’-somethin’ to the lids, I’ll pull out a fluffy brush and a brown shadow….

….and bang it out!

Apply a highlight and you are good to go.

So yeah….L’Oreal HIP paints aren’t so bad at ‘tall. I loves ‘em.

Whatcha think?
Own these things?
Where do you buy them from?
Got any other colors?

L’Oreal HIP Matte and Metallic Shadow Duos

Before MAC Cosmetics came into my world there was L’Oreal HIP. At one point I owned just about all of their eye shadows. You really can’t beat their prices–especially when your local drugstore is running a Buy 1, Get 1 Free sale.

Girl yes….L’Oreal HIP’s eyeshadows are the ish. Especially for my newbies out there.

L’O HIP has recently released two more lines of eye shadows: mattes and metallics. I can dig it! This means more versatility for looks. Because I already have so many bright shadows, I decided to pick up one from each line; both are safe colors but I love them just the same.

Poppy
Matte Shadow Duo

Charged
Metallic Shadow Duo

Both eyes!

….and all L’Oreal HIP shadow duos have the trunk space at the bottom that holds a sponge tip applicator. Back in the day they used to have mirrors. Heyyyy, what happened, mayn?

I primed my eyes with this:

Yes, I LOVE L’Oreal HIP’s Cream Paint in Witty. I actually use this on top of Too Faced’s Shadow Insurance to really make my color POP.

I suggest checking out my video because I feel like the looks look A LOT better in person than they do in these photos.

I am impressed with these duos and plan on purchasing more in the near future—but not until a Buy 1, Get 1 Free sale comes along. I have a long way to go before I master the art of applying matte eye shadows but L’Oreal HIP’s seem to do good job. I didn’t get any fall-out. And the metallic shadows really are bling-tastic.

You can purchase these duos from around $8.99-$9.99 at Ulta and drugstores.

Whatcha think? Would you invest in these babies or not so much?

Beauty Review: L’Oreal HiP’s Color Presso

Greetings gorgeous people!

If there is one thing I love….it’s innovative beauty. New ideas, concepts, technologically beauty operated stuffs and ultra cool packing. It excites me and shows that as the world progresses…so does the world of beauty!

L’Oreal HiP’s Color Presso thingies are like….so…totally cool!

I mean, look at it.

That’s Sally Hansen’s Night Lily on the nails, by the way

That’s a sexy lip gloss, uh? I purchased (782) Ritzy Color Presso from Wal-greens for $12.99. Now normally I wouldn’t purchase L’Oreal HiP regular price because drugstores usually have Buy 1, Get 1 sales but I just had to share this with my family….that would be yall.

ALERT: L’Oreal is on sale at CVS: Buy 1, Get 1 Free!! Check the ad here.

Per L’Oreal’s website:

“Grab Hold of Endless Color Combinations
Press one side for a single shade
Press two sides to mix and blend hundreds more
Press to Express”

Well, I don’t know about “hundreds” but I see what you’re gettin’ at, Lo HiP. This is such a cool product. The packaging is just so much fun. And look how funny it looks when you squeeze both tubes.

Ha! That just tickles me.

And you can even wear it as an accessory!

Okay, I’m kidding about that last bit but it’s one product that has endless uses. It is a little on the pricey side being a few dollars short of some higher end brands.

What I DON’T like about this product is that the gloss factor doesn’t last as long as I would like for it to. I’ve encountered this with many Lo HiP lip products. Granted this is better than most but it still is almost non-existent after an hour or so. Boo to that.

Check out my video review (warning: I’m a mess)

Actually, L’Oreal HiP has a ton of goodies in store for us. Look what I caught on Crackberry:

Ah haaaa….

I think I’ll wait for BOGO before I purchase any thing else.

What do you think? Have you tried this? Want to? Not interested?

Don’t act like you’re too cute to be shoppin’ in the drugstore, girl!

Brown and Blushin’ Series: NARS Dolce Vita

Fine. I’ll admit it. I really don’t need to purchase any more blushes. You hear that, Ma?

But a girl has to spoil herself every now and then. I absolutely love NARS; especially their blushes. Highly pigmented, long-lasting, build-able…..truly the elite of blushes in my opinion.

Check out one of NARS newest blushes:

Dolce Vita
(I’m sorry, but who else likes that name?
I’m naming my first daughter that? LOL! j/k)

As a matte, NARS describes this lovely color as a “dusty rose”. After only one swatch it gives me such a beautiful “tint”.
And of course I pulled out my favorite MAC brush; Miss. 187.

(Why did it take me 28 years to take this picture
so that I ended up in the mirror. HA!)

It’s fabulouso, chicas! But wait–don’t spaz out if aren’t ready to splurge $25 on a blush. L’Oreal HIP has these darling Blendable Creme blushes. I found that Dolce Vita is almost identical to Blushing.

I would say that Blushing is a tad bit darker but a great deal if you can catch L’Oreal HIP on a BOGO sale at your nearest drug store.

Looooves it! What is your favorite blush at the moment? Any ones you got your eyes on? Tell me, mon!

Berries!

Ohhhh la laaa, I’ve been all over berries this summer. Aside from making delicious blueberry, strawberry and raspberry protein smoothies every other morning, I’ve been all over berry colored lippies. I decided to have a little fun and showcase them by categorizing the intensities: low, medium and high color concentrations.

Sound too technical? HA….well, hopefully my silly pictures make up (get it…make-up? *crickets*) for the professional word usage.

First up. let’s start with the loooooow.

[LOW]
L’Oreal HIP Jelly Balm in Luscious

…..what’s better than a MAC Tendertone? Nooo, I’m just kidding. I’ve actually never owned the Tendertones but I don’t feel like I’m missing out. Especially since I got them 2 for $8.99. I find these perfect for a little color tint. Like when I’m at work and don’t have time to run to a mirror.

[MEDIUM]
CoverGirl’s Wetslicks AmazeMint #625

I absolutely love this lippie. This has to be one of my favorites! The color in the tube isn’t as dark on my lips so it works out beautifully. The minty taste doesn’t hurt either. It isn’t too powerful but it is absolutely pleasant applying on the lips. This is a great “gotta run into the mall” or “out to eat with the co-workers” look.

I’m a nut for giving that lipgloss
its own photoshoot, uh? HA!

[HIGH]
NARS Afghan Red

If you are lookin’ for a serious berry-licious look, I’m thinkin’ that a highly pigmented lipstick is the way to go. NARS Afghan Red is seriously one of my favorite lipsticks. I know, I know. I say that about all of my products, but this baby here has me goin’ around pokin’ my lips out every time I wear it. It is great for ladies’ night out!

How do you feel about berry lipsticks? Yay or nay?

Mascara Monday: L’Oreal HIP High Drama Volumizing mascara

Hi beautiful people! Excuse my silence this past weekend. I had a great amount of posts up my sleeve, but would you believe that I had zero internet service in my hotel room? The horror! No worries…I have lots of goodies this week, but fiiiiirst, it’s time for another edition of Mascara Monday.

Yesss, Mascara Monday is where we review a new mascara in attempts to find THE BEST MASCARA EVER!

Now here’s one that I haven’t heard many beauty bloggers talk about. L’Oreal HIP is most known for their eyeshadow color payoffs. But how does their mascara stand up?

You ready to find out?

L’Oreal HIP High Drama Volumizing mascara

Price: 2 out of 5

Packaging (Brush Wand): 2 out of 5

Overall:
2 out of 5

What it claims: ” Unique combination of an increased new ultra black pigment and a volumizing formula ensures you will get your darkest lashes with maximum impact.

The truth: Well, it does give a little bit of drama, but not HIGH DRAMA. I wish that it could have given me a little length but nahhhh, not a lick of that. The consistency was pretty decent, it didn’t clump and noooo…..it certainly isn’t waterproof. But the black is really black; which I like!

What I loved about it: My lashes did look thicker and more prominent. And I love how it lasted throughout the entire work day.

What I didn’t like: It wasn’t enough. I was looking for HIGH drama, but I don’t feel that this mascara gave me that.

Overall: I don’t think this mascara is THAT bad. It definitely isn’t one of my favorites and I don’t think I would purchase it again. However, I’m thinking that this would be perfect when paired with one of my other HG (holy grail) mascaras; namely one that gets my lashes out there. The wand is just “eh”. Nothing innovative or fun about it. It’s not the best wand, but I’ve seen worse. It gave me decent control. You can snag this at most drugstores where L’Oreal HIP is sold. However, this baby runs at regularly priced at $9.99 which I think is a bit steep for a drugstore brand. Better BOGO this one. If you need a good volumizing mascara, check this one out….but only if its on sale.

What do you think about this mascara? Have you tried it and liked it?

Review & Ish….

My FOTD is blah again. I need some help. Some nice neutral colors….I’m really sad. Someone help me!

Okay….I’ll be aight. Been tryin‘ some new non-MAC things and thought I’d give some quick reviews because I don’t know ’bout yall, but I learn about what’s hot and not from other folx like myself. Thanks Ms. Riss—-I inspire you, you inspire me!

So….top 4 mention-worthy cheap non-MAC steals would be:
(1) Loreal HIP’s gel liner:

Yeah yeahhhh, I know it’s not MAC’s Fluidline. But it’s just AS good. I think I only spent $7.99 on it. I do think it’s more expensive than that, but I got a deal. I got the black (similar to MAC’s Blacktrak) and it was niiice. Put it on with my watercolor brush, nice texture and strong color. I would purchase again. But only if Walgreen’s or CVS have a BOGO sale. If you buy it regular price, you should jus gon and spend 2 mo dollars and get MAC. Ya know?

(2) Milani compacts & quads

Some beauty folx trash talk brands like Milani but no matter how much I love MAC, I will never discredit this brand of products. They are great! The color payoff is incredible and one color compact is…get this, $2.99! Now c’mon….even if you don’t like the color/quality (which, I’m sure you will) you can’t complain too much because it’s only $3. Say whatcho want…..I’m buyinMilani ’til the day I die. Or ’til I can’t afford MAC anymore. Which ever comes first. OH—and their quads. So worth the price.

(3) Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner

[WARNING] I’m ’bout to have a WG Moment. OMG, I like totalllly love this stuff. It’s freakin‘ awesome in every way! [Return to Black vernacular] No seriously, this is my staple eyeliner. It’s thin, you don’t have to sharpen it (I’ve cut my eye on damn eyeliners) and it stays on foreeever. I’ve gone to sleep in this stuff and have arisen to eyes that still look pretty decent. Not raccoon eyes. I love it and plan on writing my prenuptial vows for this eyeliner. Another BOGO product from your local drugstores. Regular price I believe is no more than $6.99. Lasts foreveeeer!

(4) Burt’s Beeswask Lip Balm

Sooo, before I got into this whole make-up thing, I actually wore nothing but natural products that my Mom, the herbalist, made for me. Now, I looove me some Burt’s Bees! With a passion. This stuff not only soothes ya lippies, but the menthol keeps them tingling soft and oh so kissable. Ehhh, can’t remember the price. My Mom tried to duplicate the same product and she did a great job. But please get up on this stuff here!

4 is such a random number, I know, but that’s all that I could think of. Also worth mentioning is Loreal HIP’s Mascara. Ummm, so good. And Ms. Riss, that Loreal Voluminous mascara is pure greatness. I purchased it yesterday and loved it!!

Also heard Milani’s loose powders are pretty decent. Completely threw away my Isa Dora stash…was I the only one really into that drugstore brand? I mean I really reallly loved them. I look back at when I used to be a Beauty Advisor at Walgreens and realize how much I did NOT know. So sad. But then again I worked in a neighborhood where the standards were kind of low. If you know what I mean.

But ahhh welll…..off to a meeting. Check out my Beauty Marks (to the left!) I’m getting a collection of so many great blogs. If you know any more, lemme know!

Peace and piece of mind.
