Wrapping Gifts? Ain’t Nobody Got Time For That. Right, LUSH?

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas….

I know you a lot of you guys are already in the Holiday spirit. If you aren’t in the sprit, you need to hurry up and get there because we are already less than a month from the big day. Shopping for this season can be difficult and everyone’s least favorite holiday task is wrapping those gifts..  The lovely people at LUSH Cosmetics have solved our holiday dilemmas.

LUSH Christmas

I had the opportunity to try the All The Best Gift and it was a-m-a-z-i-n-g!!!!! When I first received the box it was perfectly wrapped in gorgeous paper and what was awaiting inside was even better. The All The Best box lives by its name. The box included 5 bath bombs, each having their own amazing scent.

LUSH Christmas gift

I used the Golden Wonder bath bomb and it was a wonder indeed. I am always afraid to use scented body products because I get headaches from certain scents, but the Golden Wonder was just right.

LUSH bath bombs

I was already in love with this bath bomb and as soon as I dropped it into my tub I was an awe. Once the Golden Wonder hit the water it changed into a beautiful orange than a green which turned into a blue added with specks of purple and ended with a deep turquoise that reminded me of the water you see on the Discovery Channel documentary on The Great Barrier Reef.

Pretty bathwater

Once I sat in the tub I noticed gorgeous little stars that turned into golden glitter that added an extra sparkle to the tub.

LUSH bathwater

Using that bomb bath gave me a bath experience that I want to relive and thankfully, I can with the additional bath bombs that came with the box. Even if you have all the time in the world to do some Christmas shopping, stop by LUSH in stores or online and get your favorite someone something they will enjoy. And that’s already wrapped and ready to go for you!

The All The Best Gift retails for $34.99.

Celebrate National Honeybee Day with these LUSH goodies

Hey honayyyyyyy. National Honeybee Day is this Saturday, August 17th and I am all over it. I’ve always had an affinity for bees. I think they just so wonderful for our ecosystem and the health benefits of honey just doesn’t end. I keep our home stocked with local honey and local raw honey. The second I feel like I’m coming down with a cold, I run to my beloved honey. LUSH is lovin’ on honey too. I was sent these products to review in honor of National Honeybee Day.

National Honeybee Day

They have a ton of goodies in their line that are honey-based. Like the Honey Bee Bath Bomb and the Fair Trade Honey Shampoo. Both are available online and at LUSH stores nationwide.

I’ve been taking more baths lately and now that my skin isn’t as wonky (thanks to giving up gluten), I can’t wait to give this Honey Bee bath bomb ($6.95) a whirl.

LUSH Honey Bee bath bomb

Aside from a few of ‘em being overly fragrant, I adore bath bombs. This one is toffee-scented and packed with Moroccan Rhassoul mud, aloe vera gel and soothing honey. Basically it’s heaven on Earth. Can’t wait to try!

And then there’s the Fair Trade Honey Shampoo ($9.95 – $29.95)

LUSH Fair Trade Honey shampoo

This preservative-free shampoo is moisturizing and is supposed to give hair a nice sheen. I can’t wait to try this either. I’ve been washing my hair daily these days (one of the many perks of shaving off my hair) and I could use the extra moisture. Plus this shampoo smells so so nice and doesn’t have an obviously strong smell.

Thanks for celebrating bees, LUSH! Of course you’ll be able to find these and more honey-inspired products at LUSH.com and LUSH stores nationwide.

Newest Stuff from LUSH

It’s been a quick minute since I’ve dabbled in some LUSH stuff so why not start the year off featuring one of my favorite brands? This go ’round I am highlighting some of their super cool Emotional Brilliance cosmetics, a chunk of smell-good soap and one of their new lip scrubs.

DSC_4859

Let’s start with the soap first. His name is Mr. Punch…

DSC_4926

A cute little sucker, isn’t he? Let’s run the stats on him…

Price:$6.95 for 3.5 oz
Availability: In LUSH stores and online.
What LUSH says: When you turn it upside-down, this soap looks like a delicious bowl of punch with fruit floating in it. We were inspired to make a fruity, tropical, boozy punch scent for this soap, and we did so with juniper berry oil, blackcurrant absolute, lime oil and a splash of gin. That’ll cheer you up on dark winter mornings! (source)

Now we all know that I’m not a fan of super fragrant soaps and I was so glad to know that this one is subtle. It’s got a nice and fruity smell but is indeed quite reminiscent of punch. I can smell every bit of the lime and blackcurrant. The smell dissipates quickly after lathering up but it’s just so adorable to look at. I’ve got it in my guest bathroom just because it’s THAT cute and I love how it seems to double as an air freshener.

Next up is the yummy Popcorn Lip Scrub

DSC_4910

DSC_4925

Price: $8.95 for 0.8 oz
Availability: LUSH stores and online.
What LUSH says: Mmm! A simply scrumptious sugar and salt lip scrub for the holidays. We haven’t been able to keep our hands off this one. Lips can get particularly dry and flakey in winter weather, so it’s especially important to exfoliate. Use this one and keep your lips sweet, smooth and tasty all season long. The sweet and slightly salty popcorn flavor will make you want to lick this scrub right off your lips; but that’s okay, we do it too! (source)

I’ve featured LUSH’s lip scrubs before (here and here) but I so didn’t know that they had a popcorn version of this awesome scrub. And seriously, y’all…it really does taste like popcorn. Like all of LUSH’s lip scrubs, this one is total edible. It’s salty and feels so divine on the lips. Honestly, I could stash a ton of these and still never get enough. I think this is limited edition so better snag it before they run out!

And then there are LUSH’s new kids on the block, their Emotional Brillance Liquid Lipsticks…

DSC_4884

Price: $18.95/ea
Availability: LUSH stores and online.
What LUSH says: Grab some Glamorous or prepare for a Passionate smooch with LUSH’s patent pending liquid lip formula. Super softening Ultrabalm is the base, which is a simple blend of organic jojoba oil, candelilla wax and rose wax. Lips will be brilliantly coloured and left soft, smooth and deeply moisturized. (per press release)

These are interesting. For one, while the packaging is unique and flows with the LUSH concept, I’m not sure how practical they are as the applicator only allows you to go straight down in the bottle.

DSC_4874

Consistency-wise, they were a bit on the grainy side, have nice pigmentation and provide more moisture than the average lip product. Your best bet is to exfoliate those lippies before use though, because these tend to amplify cracks, splits and lines in lips. Each shade is actually an “emotion”.

Glamorous is a bubblegum pink.

DSC_4869

Strong is a blood orange.

DSC_4878

Confident is a deep plum.

DSC_4879

DSC_4898

These wear well and I found Confident to be the most suitable for me.

DSC_4906

So I don’t know – I’m still on the fence about thgese. I think they are darling but a bit overpriced. They are  fun and LUSH has a ton of shades that I think will suit both tame color lovers and the adventurous alike.

Whatcha think? Have you tried any of the Emotional Brillance cosmetics? And how awesome is that edible popcorn scrub?

Vanilla lips, charcoal cheeks and an ocean breeze in a jar – Thanks LUSH!

I don’t think I’ve played around with LUSH alllll year. How lame am I? Ah well. Better late than never. Since summer has rolled around these parts (Florida totally skipped Spring), I’ll be baring more of that skin. Not in a “It’s so hot, I’m just going to go nekkid.” kind of way but have I been struttin’ in my skirts, shorts, bathing suits and strappy tanks? Oooooh yeah. These LUSH goodies are perfect for scrubbin’, exfoilating and moisturizing your skin all while getting it ready for the warmer weather.

Vegan Sweet Lips Lip Scrub in Vanilla
($8.95) – get it here

Oooooh how I love these lip scrubs. Prior to using the ones from LUSH, I was scrubbing my lips with my toothbrush. Which ain’t exactly sexy. But this scrub? Oh my words!

I love that it contains only a few ingredients. Sugar, vanilla extract, cocoa absolute and organic jojoba oil. Short and sweet ingredient lists are the best. LUSH says this scrub tastes like freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and I totally agree. And did I mention that it’s edible? Yes girl…if scrubbin’ on the go is your thing, you can dab some of this on your lips and lick it right off.

Oh, one thing though: be sure to close the top nice and tight. For if you don’t, the sugar will harden and become un-usable. Such was the case with my last jar of this scrub. Womp.

Dark Angels Facial Charcoal Cleanser
($11.95) – get it here

While it wouldn’t win the Sexiest Cleanser award, this cleanser is actually pretty effective. Even for those with sensitive skin like meeeee. Yeah. I get super excited when I come across cleansers that don’t make my skin go nuts. This cleanser is for those who have blocked pores and want to combat breakouts. Who knew black sugar and powdered charcoal could be so divine together?

There’s also a dose of rhassoul mud and organic avocado oil, both which do a great job and moisturizing the skin. Fragrance-wise, this stuff is…different. It’s got sandalwood and rosewood oils in it and while I’m a fan of both, the earthiness of this throws me off a bit. The fragrance dissipates after rinsing it off but still…when it’s on there, it smells funnnnyyyyy. But it works. And so I plug my nose and get to slathering.

Ocean Salt Facial and Body Scrub
($19.95 for 4.2 oz/$34.95 for 8.8 oz) – get it here

This Florida girl loves anything that attempts to capture the essence of the ocean. Of course nothing beats actually going to this beach, but this scrub isn’t half bad. Scent-wise, it is amaziiiing. Both refreshing and invigorating, I find that this coarse sea salt scrub is great for the face AND body.

It’s smooth and slick enough to go on the face but still coarse enough to be used on the body. It’s also a great unisex scrub as I find that the fragrance has a bit of a masculine whiff to it. With avocado oil, grapefruit and fresh lime infusion, this scrub gives a darn good job at giving the illusion of being at the beach.

LUSH never steers me wrong….

Happy Chinese New Year! – by LUSH

Oh LUSH. I’ll never know how you do it. In honor of the Chinese New Year (which is today!), LUSH has so beautifully crafted a Red Dragon Soap.

Pretty, isn’t it? Retailed at $7.95, this beautiful bar of soap is gently dusted with gold shimmer.

I’m no fan of glitter particles in my body products but the good news is, after one wash, this dust of glitter washes away. What’s left is a perfectly scented bar of soap that will leave your guests going “OMG, where can I get one of those?”

Scent-wise, if you’re a lover of LUSH’s Karma (I am! I reviewed the solid perfume here), you’ll love the soap. It’s highly fragrant at initial lather but becomes mellow while scenting the skin with that lovely spicy concoction of patchouli, lavender and pine. And it’s a vegan dragon soap too that will be make a perfect gift for your beauty lovin’ vegan guys and girls.

Ah yes, that’s another thing. I find the Karma fragrance to be fitting for men and women. Because of its spiciness, it can easily work for girly girls, manly men and everyone else in between. How thoughtful of you, LUSH. You can snag this at LUSH locations and online.

Some Chinese New Year facts:
-Considering many Asian cultures celebrate it, Chinese New Year is commonly called Lunar New Year.
-The Chinese year is based off of the cycles of the moon.
-2012 is the year of the dragon
-In anticipation for the Chinese New Year, many families thoroughly clean their homes. Metaphorically speaking this is to get rid of the previous year’s bad luck to make space for the new year’s good luck.
-Red is considered a lucky color in China.

Fragrances: LUSH knows Love and Cocktails

Have I told y’all how much of a fragrance snob I’ve become? I haven’t worn anything other than all-natural roll-on’s and solid perfumes all year. There’s just something about traditional fragrances. I don’t really like them anymore. They make my allergies go nuts and I just prefer lighter close to natural scents. Hence why I love my LUSH Gorilla perfumes.

Remember when I reviewed that bad boy Karma? Uh yeahhhhh. I am still in love with that fragrance. But wait, there are some new kids on the block.

LUSH has added 13 new scents to the Gorilla Perfume line-up and I’ve got my hands on two of ‘em.

Say hello to Love and Cocktail.

Love: With a name like Love, you’ve got expect a scent to smell good. Because if it doesn’t, you’re all like, “Love stinks” and well, that….that just ain’t good. Kudos to LUSH for giving Love justice. Literally. This fresh apple and cinnamon spice fragrance can fancy girly girls, manly men and everyone in between. I absolutely love this scent but The Guy didn’t think it would suit him too well. But whatever. What does he know anyway? 8) Love’s main notes Lemon, lemongrass, bergamot, apple, cinnamon, cassia, jasmine, rose, ylang ylang

Cocktail: The Guy, however, DID like Cocktail. “Now this,” he said. “Is better.” Cocktail certainly has a bit of bite to it. It is unique in its own right and its creation is an homage to traditional French 1930s perfumeries. It is a little on the stronger side for me but somehow…I still like it. It’s a floral fragrance with notes of ylang ylang, cananga, jasmine, rose, orange blossom, oakmoss and sandalwood.

I can’t wait to get my hands on some more of these fragrances. I’ve got Superworld Unknown and 1000 Kisses on my radar. Solid perfumes are so what’s hot when on the go.

You can toss ‘em in your purse, carry-on and bookbag. The solid perfumes retail for $12.95 but if you are more of a spritz-y guy or gal, LUSH has them in various sizes to suit your needs. But you can only snag ‘em  online here.

LUSH Halloween bath goodies

I love how LUSH gets all giddty about holidays. I’m not all that crazy about Halloween, but I just had to have that adorable Pumpkin Soap. Doesn’t that cutesy bubbly bar make you want to jump in the tub?

I mean…you should always want to jump in the tub, but it’s great to have incentives. For $6.95, this soap is fantastic. Laced with clove, cardamom, spearmint and fresh pumpkin, the Pumpkin Soap also includes cinnamon. As I showered, that was the the prominent smell. I also got a hint of ginger which made me crave for ginger snaps like you wouldn’t believe. The best thing? The cute pumpkin face lasted after 2 weeks worth of washin’. Weeee! Oh, and if you aren’t a  fan of long-lasting scents, you’ll love Pump even more. While bathing and showering will fill your bathroom up with gingery goodness, you can rest assured that the scent fades away a bit. It is slighty fragrant on the skin but it isn’t overpowering. Which, for me, is a relief. I love ginger snaps but I don’t really want to go around smelling like them. You can grab Pump from LUSH stores and LUSH online. And then there’s the Calavera Bath Bomb.

Y’all know just how much I love bath bombs. While Twilight bath bomb will be my forever, favorite Calavera isn’t too shabby either. Per LUSH, “Calaveras (skulls, in Spanish) are an iconic image for Day of the Dead, a Mexican celebration that honors and respects the dead. We were so inspired last season by the idea that this time of year could be filled with love instead of scary creatures, we invented a line of Day of the Dead products.

Pretty cool, uh?

If you know anything about bath bombs, you know that in addition to providing a luscious bath experience, they are are also entertainment for your bath water. Take Calavera for example. The second I dropped it in the water, it got to spinning and spewing colorful bits.

And then…

What the? For a second it looked like a bubble bee. Don’t laugh at me. I was recently stung TWICE by a bee so now I’m totally on bee radar. I’ve had some random stuffs pop out of a bath bomb but I just knew LUSH wasn’t crazy enough to drop any bees in ‘em. A closer look revealed something more.

Marigold petals! Oooh okay, I get it. A good 2 minutes later and the the bathwater was lime green.

It’s a zesty bath bomb that is definitely the pick me up. If you’re a lover of fruity lime scents, you’ll dig this bath bomb. It goes for $5.95 and you can get it from LUSH stores and LUSH.com.

Both of these Halloween goodies are limited edition. Grab ‘em before they’re gone!

LUSH’s AvoBath Bath Bomb

Yep, I’m back with another one. This bath bomb smells like avocados. No, I’m kidding. How loco would it be if it did though? But it does contain fresh avocados and lemongrass essential oil. Lemongrass is by far one of my top favorite essential oils. This bomb is also infused with olive oil; a plus for ladies with super dry skin. AKA moi.

But it isn’t my favorite bath bomb. It smells just okay but I didn’t leave the tub feeling all silky smooth like I’ve felt after using other bath bombs. It wasn’t a total waste because I absolutely loved how green it made the water.

Yes, the little things amuse me. It was a good $6.95 but I wanted more from this bomb. It definitely can’t beat my favorite bath bomb. Oh well, off I go to try another one. Have you tried this bath bomb from LUSH? What say you?
