Help for Haiti

As most of you know the country of Haiti has suffered a massive earthquake leaving many of the residents in bad shape. I have yet to view any pictures or television footage. I just can’t. My heart is literally breaking at the thought of so many of my close friends loosing family members. My thoughts and prayers go out to each and every one of you who have loved ones in Haiti and the Haitian diaspora.

Yesterday my girl Luvvie tweeted about; Wycleaf Jean’s earthquake fund. A few clicks and you can donate any amount you choose. After spreading the word about Yele Haiti, several other bloggers jumped on board and placed the banner on their blogs. Several of us have tweeted and told our Facebook fam about these efforts too.

I want y’all to know that I have donated and will continue to give what I can and will continually support this mission. I hope that you do too. If you are a fellow blogger or have a website and would like a link to that banner, send me an email at:

Map preye pou nou!

Merry Christmas!

From my family to yours…Merry Christmas and Happy holidays! I am one of those annoying people that really get into Christmas each year. I woke up at the crack of dawn as if I were 5 years old.

I love Christmas. And I love the Clumps family.

Posts will resume next Tuesday. Until then, I am available via email:

Love you all!

Vintage Post: On the Wall Palette storing

A few days ago I received an email from a college freshman. She was telling me how irritated she was at her dorm room set-up and the lack of space there was.Um, yeah….tell me about it. I’ve lived in 3 dorm rooms and countless apartments. I moved from the East Coast to the West Coast and back to the East Coast. I pretty much move ever year or every other year. Because of that, I always keep my make-up storage pretty contained and neat.

So while I was doing AmeriCorps in Los Angeles, I came up with the idea of maximizing wall space….

Now this was back when I first got into make-up and was a serious MAC addict *rolls eyes* and really only used their palettes. Of course now I am obsessed with many other brands. Velcro was the name of the game and it took NO time. This may be ideal for ladies with limited space. Luckily my roommates weren’t into make-up so I never had to worry about anyone snatchin’ my shadows or lippies.

Otherwise we’d have another problem on our hands. Haha!

Velcro is super cool and so is dorm living, my college kiddies. Enjoy it!

Clumps of Mascara’s Three Random Bits

How beautiful is this photo? I took it a year or so ago when I was visiting my Little (Big Brothers Big Sisters, holla!) in Tampa, Florida. It looks like the bridge is just going and going and going.

Decided to try something different and share Three Random Tidbits with y’all.

1) When Clumps of Mascara first started, I never did mascara reviews. I didn’t start doing them until Clumps turned a year old.

2) Clumps readers are insanely hilarious! No…..really. I had no idea that y’all were so funny. Check out the Beauty Bee-haviors: I Can’t Stand When _____ post.

3) I drink green smoothies every single day. I am obsessed with them. I was asked to do a post about how I make them. What do y’all think about that?

Now it’s your turn! Tell me any random three bits. It could be about anything. Feel like venting? Go ‘head and get you anonymity on. Just don’t insult me because….wowsers, I have had enough of that for the week. *wipes recently threaded brow* Don’t worry. I’ve got some thick skin.

Now shoot….what’s on your mind?

Update and Barbie loves Stila, part II

Greetings my loves!

I am back in Florida–but not “home”. All of the posts this week were actually scheduled. I am currently in North Florida on business. I can’t express to you all how wonderful actually being in D.C. for the Presidential inauguration was. Just amazing!! I mean…just check out one of my views:

Of course I will share additional pictures and details next week when things aren’t so loco around these parts.

I also popped my head in to let you all know that the Barbie Loves Stila cans are finally in!!!

Remember this post? And remember the confusion? They are now available so get yours before it is too late!

I may not have responded/replied…but I have read every comment from this past week’s postings. And fellow bloggers—I’ve read you all’s posts as well.

Stay beautiful, family!

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope that you all have a blessed Thanksgiving holiday. I would LOOOOOVE to take this time to list allllll of the things that I’m thankful for, but unfortunately I have family in town and don’t have much time.

Just know that I love the Clumps of Mascara family, blog sisters, affiliates, supporters and readers to death!

This Thanksgiving isn’t as exciting as last years’ at the Macy’s Parade in NYC….

…but I don’t have any complaints. Posts will resume tomorrow.

Enjoy time with loved ones, family. Stay beautiful!

Good news tidbits

I forgot to tell you folx….guess who is MahoganyButterfly’s first ever Blogger of the Week? Yours truly! You can check check out my interview here. You may find out some things about Ms. B that you neeeever knew. *wink* And if you haven’t joined yet, what are you waiting for?

OH–and I have more news to share:

A few months ago, I entered a contest and uh, I won. Which shocked me because I was one of those little girls growing up who never even won BINGO (still sad about that….). I entered Clinique’s Beauty Insider contest. Applicants were asked to submit a 1-minute video and a bio of themselves. 20 people would be selected to review and post articles AND videos on Clinique’s website.

Um, can you say, amazing?

I feel so fortunate to be able to represent a company that is not only impeccable in the skincare area but cosmetics as well!

I wanted to let you, my readers know, in case you notice the increase of Clinique products in my FOTDs and skincare regime, should I post them.

I am so excited and thank you all for your continued support. I will do what I can to be a great Beauty Insider! In the meantime…check out the Skin Anaylsis. This short quiz not only tells you what kind of skin you have but creates a little medicine cabinet for you and shows you which products would work best for you. I’m Skin Type I. Tell me yours!

And I’m starting to work the hair a little more. I forgot how much fun it was to have short hair and be able to wash it everyday! Loves it!

Have a wonderful Thursday!!!!

Today’s the day!!!

I can’t say how proud I am of this blog. The support, the love, the interaction, the success….it has all been overwhelming and came out of nowhere! Seriously, I started this blog just to merely showcase my horrific make-up skills. I would have never thought that it would turn into all of this. I am elated.

And I have to thank you readers, the most. A blog is NOTHING without supporters. I still think it’s crazy that people care about what I say or feel so inclined to comment on my pictures. My induction into two wonderful Beauty networks has made my pride for this site just go up!

….now before I start with the cyber-tears, let’s review Clumps of Mascara’s top 5 moments.

  • The Parrot Eye: This look started my obsession with bright colored make-up. I didn’t really start toning it down until months later. I spent HOURS blending to achieve the perfect parrot eye.
  • Face Art: Living in LA had crazy inspiration. I spent a ton of time playing around with Face Art. Especially after MAC debuted those crazy hot Halloween face charts.
  • The Tragedy: Ahhh, the infamous brow incident. This experience had me coverin’ my brows for at least a month straight. I wasn’t even inspired to do much make-up because I didn’t even like looking at my face because of those frightful brows. Dramatic, I know.
  • The post that put Clumps of Mascara on the beauty map: This one gave the blog so much fame and fanfare that I felt like a online celebrity for at least 2 weeks. Bringing in 51 comments and being featured on big name beauty sites made me realize how far I wanted to take Clumps of Mascara.
  • It’s Official-The introduction to Clumps of Mascara–the dot-com site. This post is what started the series, networking with you other beauty bloggers and all of those creative features that make Clumps all unique ‘n stuff.

So yeah….check out those special moments. If you’re up for some good laughs check out some of the first few FOTDs that I did. Boy, did I come a loooong way. And you, my faithful readers have been there for the ride.

Hang on as we make Clumps of Mascara a revolution!!!

Oh….and what a wonderful anniversary gift! Toya from Life of a Ladybug has featured me as Beauty Blogger of Color. Check me out here!
