Eucerin_No-Fry-Friday-Badge

Hey girl hey! Gonna be online sometime during tomorrow? Crazy question, right? I mean if you’re reading this chances are you are somewhat of a techie and love reading about beauty happenings. Tomorrow I’m going to be one of the co-hosts of Eucerin’s #NoFryFriday Twitter chat. It’s going to be a day long Twitter chat with hour-long chats with different hosts. Yours truly will be hosting the 1pm-2pm EST hour and I’d love for you to join in.

Eucerin_No-Fry-Friday_Schedule_Macro

So WHY is the brand doing this? According to Eucerin, “Memorial Day is widely considered to be the unofficial start to the summer. Many people flock to the beaches but may not practice safe sun exposure. The National Council on Skin Cancer Prevention declared that the Friday before Memorial Day be called ‘Don’t Fry Day’. Its goal: promote sun safety awareness and encourage people to practice safe sun while outdoors.”

Makes sense to me. Especially since I’m a beach babe! The party will be be funnnnn. Each hour Eucerin will be giving away one Sun-Safe grand prize pack each hour, filled with a wide brimmed hat, water bottle, Sunglass Hut gift card, Eucerin products and more. *squeals* Tweet me and let me know if you plan on making it. See you then!

Simple Skincare is just so…simple. And awesome!

Yay!! New skincare products. Okay, not really new. Simple has been out for awhile but this is my first time trying them. I got a few of the products to review and after giving them about a month to work some magic, I am finally ready to review ‘em.

Simple Skincare products

First things first…you can grab these products and more at practically all drugstores and at places like Target and Walmart. This brand is SO up my alley because for one thing, it’s practically fragrance-free. Aaaanad, all of their products omit parabens, sulfates and phthalates. This hypoallergenic line has products for those of all skin types – normal, oily, dry and combination. The line carries everything from cleaners, moisturizers (with and without SPF), facial scrubs, toners make-up removers and eye creams. I’m going to do mini reviews of the products that I used…

Foaming Facial Cleanser ($6.99)

Simple Skincare Foaming Facial Cleanser

This cleanser promises to not only refresh and moisturize the skin, but it also promises to get rid of remaining traces of make-up. It has such a nice fresh scent and I think that’s due to the chamomile. The glycerin in it helps with hydration and I love how my skin didn’t feel streaky clean when I used it. It does a darn good job at thoroughly cleansing the skin and yep, I felt like it removed my excess traces of makeup. The price point is a great too and I love that even though it’s a foam, it will last well over a month. Maybe even two months.

Protecting Light Moisturizer with SPF ($11.99)

Simple Protecting Light Moisturizer

Simple Protecting Light Moisturizer with SPF 15

It’s been forever since I’ve tried a new moisturizer. I looooove this one. It’s just so…simple. No frills, no outrageous promises, it’s just a lightweight facial moisturizer. It’s perfect for this hot and humid areas and I appreciate not smelling the SPF that’s dumped in it. It isn’t greasy and is a great follow-u to the facial cleanser.

Radiance Cleansing Facial Wipes ($5.49 for 25 wipes)

Simple Radiance Cleansing wipes

Simple Radiance Cleansing wipes in hand

Too lazy to splash some water on your face each night? Um yeah…me too. Which is why I LOVE facial wipes. They aren’t exactly eco-friendly but they work beautifully in a pinch. I currently have these stashed in my travel bag because I’m finding it great for cleaning my face and neck while on the go. I think these are best suited for those with extremely dry skin because they left a bit of a film behind. It wasn’t unpleasant but it may drive those with oiler skin crazy. I didn’t try ‘em long enough to see if they brightened and evened my skin tone but with those claims, if I wasn’t a beauty blogger, I would definitely be into using this long term.

Oil Balancing Cleansing Facial Wipes ($5.49 for 30 wipes)

Simple Oil Balancing Cleansing wipes

Similar to the Radiance wipes, these can be used in place of a traditional cleanser. It has promises to refresh skin and help control shine. It feels just as good as the Radiance wipes but I’d rather use those because of their promises to help even skin tone. Both wipes are alcohol-free. Yesssss!

Eye Make-Up Remover Pads ($5.49 for 30 wipes)

Simple Eye Makeup Remover Pads

Simple Eye Makeup Remover Pads in hand

This are cute, uh? They promise to remove waterproof mascara but nope, my waterproof mascara was holding on tightly and wasn’t easily removed by the pad. *le sigh* I’d rather stick with my regular eye makeup remover and use the facial wipes for all over cleanup.

OVERALL: I’m a huge fan of this brand. There is a definite need for a line like this on the drugstore level. I have only worn preservative-free skincare products for years (due to my sensitive skin) so I am loving me some Simple.

Have you tried any of their products?

Got tired eyes? Yeah well, join the club. Let’s fix ‘em together!

“Relax.” they say. “Get some time to yourself.” they utter. Hmph. Whatever. My darling child is a special gift and I love her more than life itself but babies are some selfish creatures, man. They don’t give a darn about your beauty blogging schedule. Which is why it has taken me so long to review this amazing Ultra Hydration Eye Mask Duo from Le Metier de Beaute. I got a pair for review awhile back and I just got around to trying them out.

Le Metier de Beaute Hydrating Mask Duo

First of all, LMdB is a luxury brand. You know this, right? I’ve reviewed the brand several times before and their products are far from cheap. But if you’re ever in the mood to treat yourself to something cosmetically decadent, well then, I’m suggesting LMdB. This eye mask duo is wooooonderful.

Le Metier de Beaute Hydrating Mask Duo up close

I mean, I knew they’d probably feel nice but no, they REALLY feel nice. According to LMdB these single-use translucent seaweed-based masks have several things they’ll do for the skin under the eyes. Aaaand, here’s a list…

-They instantly cool on contact.
-They re-energize the area under the eyes.
-They reduce under eye redness.
-They diminish puffiness and the look of dark circles.
-They automatically pay back your student loans.

…nah, I’m just kidding about that last part. Just making sure you were paying attention. Ha! But seriously, they are some kind of awesome. I like that you don’t have to lay down while wearing them. And they really do create a second skin.

Le Metier de Beaute Hydrating Mask Duo on eyes

Yes, girl. They feel just marvelouuuus! I am a believer. And I wish these were waiting for me each and every night. Hey! A girl can dream, right?

Price: $150 for a pair of 8
Availability: You can get them from Nordstrom and Nordstrom.com.
Is it worth the money?: I’m not sure they sell these individually (bummer) and a box is so expensive each time you needed the under-eye pampering. They’re worth the price but I’m sure there are other ways you can pamper yourself.

Do you take care of the skin under your eyes? You can be honest… Okay, I’ll start. I don’t but will dedicate more time to doing so.

My Eucerin’s Skin Hydration Par-tay + A Crazy Awesome Giveaway!

So y’all know how much  I love Eucerin, right? Last year I did like a gajillion posts on their products. Including that body wash that helped get rid of eczema. As a Eucerin ambassador I’ll be doing a ton of features the cool stuffs they’ve got.

A few weekends ago, my gal pal D came over and we plunged into a box of Eucerin goodies that was sent to me.

DSC_7640

We acted like children. I mean, it was insane. We dug into the box and chit chatted over the products. Eucerin also sent us a wonderful face scrub and eye soothers but we both had our little babes with us and uh, yeah…there’s no relaxing with a 3-month old and 16-month old in the house. But we had a good time anyway.

D was in love with the Gentle Hydrating Cleanser. She didn’t even know Eucerin made cleansers. Say whaaaat! I had to school her on the awesomeness of Eucerin’s moisturizers AND cleansers. And then we both got schooled when we tried to figure out which moisturizers would best suit our needs.

DSC_7641

Eucerin has a darling little system that can assist with this. Have you ever noticed the little teardrop at the bottom of their bottles?

DSC_7647

These indicators are great at helping you decide what kind of moisturizer you need. I pretty much always need “Rich” and I’m okay with that. Yours truly was born with crazy dry skin.

Stay tuned for more of these Eucerin posts. I’ve got so much to share! You can also visit Eucerin on Facebook and check out their Eucerin Skin Solution Center. Especially if you need some product recommendations for keeping that skin of yours hydrated.

Win A Suave Naturals Prize Pack + $50 Walgreens gift card!

Guess what? I’m taking showers now! Laugh if you want but no one told me that mothering a newborn may mean that you don’t get the chance to bathe as often as you’d like. I’m not even kidding. The first month Elle was born, I probably took a shower like…once a week. Yep. I smelled live divine regurgitated breast milk 24/7. Sexy, uh? Showers have become luxuries so I take ‘em when I can get ‘em. Luckily I can get them more often these days. Meeting me in those porcelain walls these days is this kid…

DSC_7473

I was sent this body wash to review and I gladly obliged because I love me some Suave products. Especially their conditioners. But that’s a story for another day.

There’s a reason why Suave’s products have been on the shelves for so long. They are affordable and cheap! And they are always coming out with something new that you feel like you HAVE to have.  Like this Rainforest Fresh Body Wash ($2).

DSC_7475

It smells so so sooo…fresh! I’m serious. I’ve placed this in the guest bathroom and Sticky Fingers Esposo snagged it and put it in our bathroom. He’s that enamored with it. Which says a lot since he’s a no fuss kind of guy when it comes to beautification. I find the scent to be a bit on the strong side so I can only use a little bit at a time but I do like the burst of tropical freshness.

DSC_7476

If you’re all annoyed with your current body wash, I totally recommend giving this one a whirl. And you’re in sweet luck, darlin’. I’m giving away one Suave Naturals prize pack to one lucky winner, which will include three Suave Naturals Body Washes and one $50 Walgreens gift card!

To be eligible to enter, all you have to do is let me know in the comment section which body wash you are currently using, and if you think Suave Naturals New Rainforest Fresh Body Wash would be better for you! Also, to be able to qualify make sure to use hashtag #SuaveScents on Twitter, letting me know you commented below!

I will be picking a winner on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013, so get commenting! Good luck to all those who enter!

Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer – yassss!

Growing up, not putting on lotion was never an option. And when you have dark brown skin, everybody and their mommy could tell if you decided to go lotion-free. Ash talks, y’all and when she takes over, she practically screams. I would have soooo wished this Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer was out when I was a kid. This stuff is genius because guess why…

DSC_7167

You really do spray…and go! Like, fo real. There isn’t a secret behind it. It’s lotion in spray bottle. That’s it! It’s so simple that it almost makes you want to laugh.

DSC_7172

New to the lotion aisle, this Spray & Go Moisturizer doesn’t tote any lofty  claims. If you’ve ever used any of Vaseline’s lotion, you’ll like that the formulation hasn’t changed one bit. It comes in 3 familiar varieties  Aloe Fresh, Total Moisture and Cocoa Radiant. Does it work?

DSC_7166

Absolutely! Vaseline has what they call the bag-on-valve technology on this thing and it helps deliver a 360-degree spray delivery using compressed air. It not only feels good going on the skin, but it really does hit every area of skin it comes across. Here goes Esposo when I tell him about this cool new product…

“So wait – I just spray it on and keep going? I don’t have to rub it in?”

Of course, I laugh at him because come on..it can’t do ALL of the work for you. Some rubbing in is definitely required. But is this perfect for those who have to moisturize daily and can’t be bothered with the whole lotion thing? Well, yeah. And if you’ve used and loved Vaseline’s lotions before, then you’ll be happy to know that not much has changed as far as scent in the 3 different varities.

DSC_7173

I’m a fan and I think this moisturizer is perfect for traveling, gym bags and kids. And for lazy birds like me who don’t have an extra 20 seconds to lotion all over. I’m just sayin’…

Snag this for $7.99 at drugstores and mass retailers nationwide. One bottle allows for 30 all over uses.

Whatcha think? Is this too gimmicky for ya or can you get down with some spray lotion?

Tales of the Makeup Remover That Didn’t Remove

I was actually kind of excited about trying and falling in love with this eye makeup remover. I’ve been using expensive eye makeup removers for years now and I’m sick of it. I can go budget for practically anything but when it comes to removin’, I can’t help it if the expensive stuff seems to be better for me.

But I knew good ole’ Mayb wasn’ going to let me down with this innovative gel makeup remover. I knew I was glaring at a winnah!

Or so I thought.

DSC_6006

At first glance, the remover looks pretty stellar.

DSC_6007

Gorgeous packaging? Check.
Affordable? Check.
Stellar claims? Check.

She promises to not only remove makeup but to also soothe the skin as well. Having a lousy eye makeup remover just isn’t an option for me. I need a spectacular one. IF you tell me you’re going to remove every trace of my eye makeup including waterproof mascara, then I expect you to. Period. Wellllllls, this remover wasn’t so hot. But let’s talk about her pros.

I don’t think I’ve ever come across a remover with a formula like this so I can appreciate Mayb pushing the envelope a bit. I popped the top and I was impressed with the housing there…

DSC_6015

This allows you to only put a teeny bit amount on a cotton ball, swap or Qtip. Cool, right? But it was really the fragrance that threw me for a loop. Okay, granted I am sensitive to fragrances but this stuff was stroooong. It smelled floral and just…nauseating. I get it. People like scents, but come on – do you need a makeup remover with a fragrance? I don’t think so. Fragrance-free is the way to go with stuff like this. The consistency was interesting…

DSC_6016

DSC_6017

And I found that it wasn’t as effective as a remover with more of an oil or watery consistency. In fact, it took almost an ounce of remover to complete remove my eyeliner and mascara. Plus, I just didn’t like how the “gel” felt around my eyes. Soothing, yes? But I felt like it kept seeping in my eyes. It’s a personal thing, I guess because I know some people can’t get down with removers with an oil consistency.

So yeah – this definitely wasn’t up my alley.

The Basics

Price: $4.99
Availability: Scoop it up at any drugstore both online and in stores. Target and Walmart too!
Do I recommend?: Nope. I wasn’t a fan.

Have y’all tried this? What makeup remover are you currently using?

The Man Repeller GLOSSYBOX

DSC_6497

I haven’t reviewed a GLOSSYBOX since last year and it’s already March. Time freaking flies. Cliche, I know but it’s always really apparent when I’m playing around with beauty stuff. This month GLOSSYBOX partnered with blogger The Man Repeller. I’m not familiar with this blog so I’m not sure how it all went down. It appears to be a fashion blog that focuses on a lot of International fashion. If you have some insight on The Man Repeller, please let me know. In the meantime, let’s check out this GLOSSYBOX…

DSC_6500

As in all of the boxes, we’ve got a magazine that features season trends and whatnot…

DSC_6499

And then the main event…

At first glance, I was excited because for the first time in a while, it looked like this GLOSSYBOX contained items in which I was interested in using them allllll.

Le Metier de Beaute Replenishing Daily Solution -full size $225

DSC_6503

I’ve featured LMdB products before but I haven’t tried any of their skincare products. Aaaand for obvious reasons. They are a bit the expensive side. I haven’t tried this yet but I don’t think I want to. Because then what if I like it? Then I’ll be stuck having to spend THAT much on a skincare product? Nah bro.

Narciso Rodriguez for Her Eau de Toilette Spray – full size $77

DSC_6508

Okay, so we all know I kicked wearing perfumes to the curb years ago due to the fact that they give me migraines but even if they didn’t, I wouldn’t re-open my love affair for ‘em with this one. It smells like old ladies. No bueno.

Living Proof Prime Style Extender (hair primer) – full size $20

DSC_6511

I’m not a fan of hair products in beauty boxes (mainly because they are almost never geared toward my hair type) but this is a decent sample size if I were interested in using a hair primer.

Vincent Longo Lipstain – full size $23

DSC_6518

Yay! I full size product. I love everything about this richly pigmented red lipstick. It is definitely the star of the box for me.

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume mascara – full size $25

DSC_6528

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a mini mascara in a beauty box so yaaaaay for that. I’m a mascara snob in that I’d much rather use a full size mascara than a mini one but for a sample box, it works. Plus, I can use this mascara in my cosmetic bag for travels.

OPI Can’t Let You Go Liquid Sand nail polish – full size $9

DSC_6531

Fantastic choice! It’s not only a full size nail polish but it is OPI’s newest formula.

Fresh  Umbrian Clay Mattifying Serum – full size $35

DSC_6535

I haven’t tried this yet, but I’m excited to. It’s a good pick for a beauty box because it’s large enough to let you try out the mask the serum at least 2-4 times.

Overall:
I always judge the value of a GLOSSYBOX by the variety of products and if what is given has a value that reaches or exceeds the cost of the $21 box. Looks like this one did a darn good job. We got a hair, nail, skincare, cosmetic and perfume sample. Two of the samples were in full size and together they cost more than the cost of the box. Not a bad box for this month. The lipstick and nail polish are true winners in my book.

Are you a GLOSSYBOX subscriber? What did you think about this month’s? Oh! And if you aren’t a subscriber, head on over to the site and sign up.
