I’m Terrified To Do it So…I’ll Do It

I feel like a punk, y’all. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I used to be fearless. Here I am at 31 years old and I get all anxious and nerve rack’y over doing something SO simple. Something that I’ve done a gajillion times before. Why am I freaking out over this?

The Makeup Show NYC is coming up and I very impulsively booked a flight to go. I used to go to this show regularly and that whole  kid life + limited personal days due to work things put a damper on all of that. But now I’m self-employed and I’ve got a husband with a super flexible schedule who took the time off so that he could take care of home while I travel. I get to hang out with friends and brands, run up and down those New York City streets, eat fancy food and sleep. I get to sleep! I haven’t slept a good 4 hours straight in monthsssss. Leaving mommy duties and the babies at home means I can get interrupted sleep. This is exciting, right?

Naked Bar Soap Company – A Lovely Gem in Orlando

Naked Bar Soap Company Orlando

Let me tell you about the College Park area in Orlando, Florida. It’s a quaint little part of town where you won’t find many tourists. Locals move up and down the streets drinking coffee at Credo, getting facials at T-Secret and visiting The Spa. The best pasta dishes are served at Trevi Pasta and The Cookie Cousins get an A+ from me in the cookie department.

8 Naturally Based Skincare Items

Natural Skincare

I’m pretty picky in the skincare department. I mean, yeahhhhh…I’m open to trying just about anything but when I am buying for myself, I tend to run to the skincare brands that use natural ingredients. Are “natural” and “organic” totally trigger words that make people feel like they’re using products that are better than the alternatives? Yep! But whatever. Here are 8 brands that have totally peaked my interest. And wallet!

My Top 5 Favorite Beauty Tools

Beauty Tools

Tools of the trade, baby. All of us beauty lovin’ guys and gals have them. I actually have A LOT but have managed to list just 5. These are the tools that I simply can’t live without.

Dem tweezahs!

Yooooo, where would I be without tweezers? I would be a hot mess. I’d be a confident hot mess, but a hot mess nonetheless. Tweezers are everything for a girl like me who naturally grows bushy brows and a beard. Okay, it’s not a full blown beard but if I didn’t tweeze it, I could probably beat a 13-year old boy in a ‘stache race. It’s sad. And I hate it. But tweezers make my life fuller, richer and I feel so much more confident owning several of ’em.

Liquid Pump Dispenser

Okay, it’s not that big of a deal. Just kidding, it is. I looooove these pump dispensers. I still use that fantastic (but over priced) nail polish remover that is Zoya Remove + and that was when I was first introduced to that kind of bottle. Now I’ve got a dozen of them all over the house. It’s not a “tool” per se but I find them so incredibly useful for toner, alcohol and even vinegar for spot cleaning in the kitchen. Technically, vinegar could be considered a tool, too but I’ll save that for another day.

simplehuman mirror

It’s funny what happens when you look at your face through a well lit mirror. I don’t care how beautiful you think you are (and you ARE beautiful, babe), you may gasp in horror. You SEE things when you look at yourself through one of those mirrors. Pores look like boulders and you’re never really prepared for this kind of thing. Even still, I love my simplehuman Mirror. It is absolutely wonderful. I’ve stared at my mug for hours just plucking and analyzing and really it’s one of the best beauty tools out there.

Acrylic containers

I rock the minimalist look when it comes to storage. While I love bright and bold colors, I tend to let the cosmetics do the talking and store them in clear acrylic containers. Oh, how I love these. Stores like The Container Store carry them in soooo many different sizes and I love that they can make your space look clean and sophisticated. I love this set, too!

Clarisonic  Mia

Obviously, right? I’ve been bragging about this thing for almost 5 years now. And here’s why. But also, here’s another reason. I have GOT to get my hands on that baby.

What beauty tools rock your world?

Migraine Inducing Fragrances and Why I’d Rather Smell Like A Goat

I cared for my skin from the inside out with Aveeno® as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #Aveeno

Okay, I’m kidding. For the record, I never really want to smell like a goat. No offense to goat lovers out there. But I’ll tell you what…fragrances make my head hurt. And not even a little. I’m talkin’, straight up passed out in bed don’t even know my name-type hurt.

I’ve suffered from migraines. Listen here. If I had to pick between giving birth and having a migraine, I’d pick giving birth. Call me crazy but you may know what I’m talking about if you’ve ever had a migraine.

Years ago I swore off of fragrances completely. Everything from my body products to my laundry detergent and dish liquid went fragrance-free. And the migraines disappeared. I can’t say that’s the reason WHY they disappeared but I’m running with it and will continue to live as fragrance-free as possible.

The Body Wash That Feels Like A Spa Treatment

I cared for my skin from the inside out with Aveeno® as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #Aveeno

Sooo, it’s back. My eczema, that is. I should really blame myself because while I usually avoid dairy products, I lose my mind when I’m pregnant. For some reason, my hormones are actually kind to me and I can tolerate dairy better while pregnant. So your girl has been going crazy. Aaaand my skin has a problem with it. I’ve become twinsies with the Belle and we are both dealing with cracking skin, inflamed skin and rashes. Lovely, right?

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Wash

It’s a good time to be exploring these Aveeno® products because this Daily Moisturizing Body Wash has been helping ease my skin a bit. And that’s probably because this baby has Colloidal Oatmeal in it.

Yes babes, oatmeal doesn’t make for just a yummy breakfast meal, it can also be an incredibly healing and soothing ingredient for us sensitive skincare folx. You can absolutely tell the difference when you’re using it. Because eczema has the tendency to dry the skin out, this Body Wash does a beautiful job at locking in that moisture – even after a hot shower! Yes, impressive, it is.

Three more reasons why I love it?
