The best lip glosses ever. Thank you, Smashbox!

I can’t even tell y’all how many lip glosses I’ve tried. I’ve tried high-end brands, drugstore brands and everything in between. I’ve purchased glosses from street vendors, glosses made by celebrities and I’ve even made my own gloss. Lip gloss is a serious matter for us beauty lovers.

But giiiiirl, I have found one of the BEST glosses ever! I’m in love. Invitations to the nuptials between me and Smashbox’s Limitless Longwear Lip gloss ($21) will be sent on Facebook. And you are all invited.

Mascara Monday: Smashbox Full Exposure mascara

I love me some Smashbox. I think they are more popular among makeup artists and industry professionals than the everyday makeup lover, but trust me, girlfriends. If you haven’t tried anything from Smashbox just yet…you’ve got to start showin’ them some love. And that would include their newest mascara.

Price: $19(from Smashbox.com)
Packaging (brush wand): 3 out of 5
Overall: 4 out of 5

What It Claims: “Inspired by the on-set technique of layering a lengthening fiber mascara over a volumizing formula, our new studio-tested mascara exposes your longest, fullest lashes. No clumps, no flakes. Just maximum-impact, scene-stealing lashes.

• 104% increase in lash volume
• 32% increase in lash length
• 34-degree increase in lash curl” (source)

The Truth: Not a bad mascara. I’m impressed.

What I Loved About It: It lasted ALL day. It doesn’t have a waterproof formula but I loved that it didn’t flake off or smudge away.

What I Didn’t Like: I would have liked a liiiiittle more volume.

Overall: I’ve tried a few Smashbox mascaras and they’ve been average at best. You know…not OMG amaziiiiing but not terrible either. I was happy to see that this mascara was closer on the OMG amaziiiiiing side. I was really impressed at how dark and lush it made my lashes with only 2 coats. And that’s not easy to do with a wand like this…

I’m not against this wand but I know that it may give some ladies a few troubles. It’s really hard to get a wand like this to breeze through the lashes. You may accidentally bump it on your lower lashline. And it’s hella hard to apply it to the lower lashes. But once you get the hang of it, I think you’ll be happy at Full Exposure’s results. I DO wish that it gave me just a little more volume but I say that about every mascara. Ha! And because the formula is a little on the thick side, 2 coats is all you’ll need. More than that will send you straight to Clumps City.

Do I recommend it?: I do! It is hereby my FAVORITE mascara from Smashbox!

Has anyone tried this mascara yet? Whatcha think?

Mascara Monday: Smashbox Hyperlash mascara

Just in time for summer, Smashbox debuts their newest mascara. Let’s see if this baby is worth packing for your summer getaway.

Smashbox Hyperlash mascara

Price: 4 out of 5
Packaging (Brush Wand): 5 out of 5
Overall: 3.5 out of 5

What it claims:
“Rev up your lashes with this high intensity all-in-one mascara that lifts, lengthens, volumizes and defines. The unique dual applicator has a brush on one side and a comb on the other for beautifully full, amazingly long, clump-free lashes in seconds. Naturally derived peptides and antioxidants help protect and repair, while rich pigments bind to lashes for an ultra-dramatic look. “ (source)

The truth: Not bad. I am totally loving the wand.

What I loved about it: Check out the amazing wand!

While the teeny tiny bristles may be TOO tiny, I think they are perfect for separating and elongating the lashes.

What I didn’t like: I would have liked a little more volume and length before it got a wee bit clumpy.

Overall:  Mind if I vent for a quick sec? A light bulb recently went off when a YouTube subscriber left a comment saying something like “I don’t know why people complain about a mascara clumping when they’ve applied 3 coats.” By george, this is true! Not all mascaras are build-able and are meant to have more than 1 coat. Such is the case with Hyperlash.

First, let’s talk about one of the things that I love about Smashbox.

Enough said. Very rarely do we run into a higher-end brand that gives us paraben free products; namely mascaras. The majority of their products are gluten-free and they are a brand that consistently supports organizations like Food for the Poor and Children’s Miracle Network. Yay to them! If you are looking for a green-conscious, world lovin’ brand that makes great products, Smashbox is it!

Back to Hyperlash…I think it does well. I think the comb wand performs beautifully but while testing it, I had no idea that it had 2 functions.

I was confused at what I was supposed to DO with Step 1 and Step 2 but I think it does provide a good amount of volume. Length? Hmm….not as much. This is a great mascara for someone looking for a natural lash look. It’s perfect for long wear because it does not flake or smudge throughout the day.

But don’t overdo it with more than 1 coat. You may be able to get away with 2 but a 3rd coat will definitely send you packin’ over to Clumps City.

You can purchase this baby for $21 at your nearest Smashbox counter or online.

Would I recommend it?: I do if for none other reason than it’s paraben-free formula. I do wish it gave more length but it’s a great mascara for ladies who don’t desire a whole heap of lash drama.

Mascara Monday: Smashbox Lash DNA mascara

Well nooow, this is a Clumps of Mascara first! With Lash DNA being the first Smashbox mascara I have reviewed, I gave it high expectations. Did it deliver? Or did it make me MAD?

Get it? DNA…MAD?

*crickets*

Awww, bring on the review!

Smashbox Lash DNA mascara

Price: 3 out of 5 (around $19.00 )

Packaging (Brush Wand): 5 out of 5
Overall: 4 out of 5

What it claims: “Our revolutionary new scientifically-engineered mascara is packed with proteins and amino acids that bind to lashes for genetic defying length and strength. The unique double helix brush grabs each lash, no matter how small, for the ultimate fanned out effect. Dramatic jet black shade intensifies and defines. Defy genetics with Lash DNA Mascara.”

The truth:
This mascara has one of the most amazing wands I have EVER seen. It’s sick, I tell ya!

What I loved about it: The wand is great. Phenomenal. Innovative. Perfect.

The “double helix” wand makes it so that that you can extend your lashes in several ways.

What I didn’t like: I would have liked to achieve a little more volume. But after a good 3 coats of mascara, it didn’t seem to give me that without clumping me up a bit.

Overall: Soooo, I don’t know why it has taken so long but yay to me for finally reviewing a Smashbox mascara. Lash DNA broke me in and I now have high standards for all of the other Smashbox mascaras I review. I can’t stress this enough—the wand is incredible. It really assists in extending the lashes. I love that you are able to maneuver it in many different directions.

See!

The packaging shows you three steps in which you can use the wand. It is difficult to photograph but the wand has a “twist” to it. This makes it easy to achieve all three steps–which I actually do each time I used this mascara. Lash DNA also gave my lashes a little gloss to them which was a nice little surprise.

How I applied it:

Would I recommend it?: Absolutely! The wand is definitely worth a try.

Brown & Blushin': Smashbox’s O-Glow Cheek color

It’s the series all about brown ladies and blushes! Here’s a product that I have had for almost 6 months and I am just now sharing it with the family. Please excuse the delay. Pero better late than never. I remember when I first heard about Smashbox’s O-Glow Intuitive Cheek color. I HAD to have.

This silicone-based clear gel is infused with vitamins for the skin.

Now the question that I’m sure most of my brown girls are asking is, “Does it really work for us?”

Yes!

It goes on like a gel….

And after a few seconds, you get a nice “flush” of raspberry pink.

Can you see it? While it works, I have a problem with putting it on. How do you do it? With fingers? A brush? I find that neither is effective–hence why I have never really used the product. So while Smashbox gets an A+ from me in the innovative department, I will have to give them a D- on usability.

Have you ever tried this product? Or would you be interested in trying it? Any tricks of how I can get it to work? Tell me!!

Cuz I’m brown and can still blush,
