Quick shots from The Makeup Show 2010

Happy Monday, darlings!

Yes, yes…yours truly totally forgot to schedule a Mascara Monday. But don’t worry, I have SO many things to share with you that I hope you forgive me. *flashes huge smile*

I am having the BEST time here in New York at The Makeup Show NYC. Mind if I tease you with a few shots?

Colors colors!

Skin care, win care (I’m so lame, ha)!

Bloggers and friends. Life got better when I met the phenomenal bloggers behind Afrobella and All About The Pretty. Add the fabulous Lianne from The Makeup Girl to that list.

Yinka from Vex In City, Adina from Krasey Beauty and Brittany from Clu—yeah, you know that part. :)

The lunch date of beautiful and amazing and TALENTED ladies reppin’ Boston (Bawstun), DC, Brooklyn and the FLA!

Tis all for now, sweetums. I’m like SO behind schedule this morning. Amina from Coup de Couer and I are bunkin’ in Queens and we have to take the 7 train to the 1 train…or somethin’ like that. My navigation is really only limited to the A and C trains. I’ll probably get lost. HA!

Anything you’d like to me focus on at The Makeup Show NYC? Shoot me an email at Brittany@ClumpsOfMascara.com or tweet me and I’ll take pictures and get information just for you!

I shall return, lovelies! Have a great day!

The Makeup Show NYC 2010

Okay kids…who’s going this year? Of course your favorite Florida ball of sunshine is making the trek up to NYC this weekend to cover everything I can about The Makeup Show. I’m not sure how I’m feeling about NYC’s chilly weather so NYCers, please tell your city I’d like a mid-80’s, light breeze, no cloudy skies and no rain. Mkay?

No really…if you are going, I would love to meet you. Just promise you won’t act all funny if I make an un-funny joke. Ha!! If you have never gone or aren’t familiar with The Powder Group’s Makeup Show, it’s like…HUGE! It’s a big 2-day industry event open only to those in the makeup artist industry. That includes make-up artists (of course), cosmetology students, hair stylists, agents and more. Beauty/fashion editors and bloggers are also invited to get the skinny on all of the hot new products coming out from the brands.

Makeup brands and companies that will be in attendance are: MAKE UP FOR EVER, Inglot, Temptu Pro, Crown Brush, Alcone, Smashbox, Becca Cosmetics, Dermalogica, Embryolisse, Eve Pearl Cosmetics, Face Atelier, Graftobian, Iredale Mineral Cosmetics, Korres Natural Products, L’Oreal, M.A.C Cosmetics, Mai Couture, Mario Badescu Skin Care, Naked Cosmetics, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, Senna Cosmetics, Shu Uemura, Three Custom Color, Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics and much more.

Of course workshops will be in be in full effect too.

The show is from 9am-6pm daily and is at NYC’s Metropolitan Pavilion. For more information, check out the site here.

Follow me on Twitter and hopefully I’ll be able to sneak in a post or two from NYC.

See you there!

The Artist Summit Miami-Inglot Cosmetics=WHOA!

Time for some photo footage from The Artist Summit Miami!

When I saw the list of vendors, I was most excited to see Inglot Cosmetics. As many of you know, I fell in love with this brand a few months back in New York City. Check out that post here. As fate would have it, the brand is still ONLY available in New York as of right now. It has Canadian and Polish locations but as far as the U.S., a freestanding store only resides in NYC. I know, completely unfair.

So as you can imagine I RAN to them when I saw their spacious layout. Intern Bri did a fabulous job at capturing how I really feel about Inglot.

Seriously y’all…this brand is ridiculous. Ridiculous as in good, I mean. The colors, the packaging, the innovative styles, I just…I love it. Check it out!

I was modest and only hauled two interesting look test tube lippies.

The more I fall for Inglot, the more they upset me. Why can’t we order them online already? Man oh man! And I really do hate to tease y’all but hopefully sooner rather than later, Inglot will open their doors and allow everyone to play with and purchase their products.

I’m wishin’ on a star….

Stay tuned for more installments of The Artist Summit Miami!

FOTD Friday: BriAna goes glam

Hi darlings! And Happy Friday to all. This FOTD Friday features my beautiful and amazing 16-year old cousin, BriAna. She was the official Artist Summit Miami intern. She did took notes, snapped shots, hob-nobbed with make-up artists and even provided snacks throughout seminars. My baby cousin (who I like to think I helped raise, lol) is not your average teen. She’s been class president, held jobs, sings, acts and is also captain of her volleyball team. My girl is on fire. Her personality radiates so much that she even attracted the likes of YouTube guru Koren from EnKore Makeup.

That’s right, my homie Koren wanted to do BriAna’s make-up for Naked Cosmetics. She was incredibly excited. And the FOTD came out amazing!

The results!

My little sweetums was in LOVE with this look. She actually pouted when it was time to remove it. She doesn’t wear make-up on a regular so this was a ton of fun for her. Oh, to be 16 again!

She’s such a doll, isn’t she? Someone cue Fergie’s “Glamorous”.

Rock on, Bri!!

Off to Atlanta I go for the Blogalicious Conference. Of course I’ll be live tweeting along the way.

Have an awesome weekend!

The Makeup Show NYC, Installment 7-Stila Cosmetics

Clumps of Mascara veterans know I am a truly a Stila Girl. Have been for quite some time. I love Stila for their cosmetics AND for their relationship with their customers. It’s a special thing when a company actually recognizes their customers.

At The Makeup Show NYC I got to get a sneak peek of the gorgeous Indian Summer collection.

Divine, right?

Each product is to make a gal feel as if she is wearing a piece of jewelry.

I played around with the 24K Appreciation gloss . Awww, look at Stila—naming a gloss “Appreciation” because they really appreciate their customers and fans. That makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Before I go on an overload of emotions, check out the photo shoot of Lady Appreciation.

Okay, I so love the arrow. Without it my crazy self would be
turning to the left. And for hours at that. HA!

And it is pretty!

At first glance, I thought that these would be similar to MAC’s Dazzleglass but they aren’t. They aren’t as thick and the glitter is not as “glittery”–making it a little more work appropriate.

And guess who I ran into at The Makeup Show? The official Stila ladies. That’s the owner Lynn Tilton in the middle. She’s a Florida girl too. Heyyy!!
….and don’t say a word about my foundation-y face. Minutes before this photo I was testing some colors and they uh, weren’t quite right. But I’m cheesin’ like it doesn’t matter. Gotta love it!

I love my Stila!! You can snag that 24K gloss here.

The Makeup Show NYC, Installment 5-Crown Brush spotlight

Yes ma’am! Don’t give me the cyber side-eye. I am STILL doing The Makeup Show NYC installments. I promise to stop at 10. I can’t help but feel like I need to share with my readers virtually EVERYTHING I experienced while in NYC. Which, I know is kinda sorta impossible.

So next time there is another show, ya’ll will just have to come along with me, mmmkay?

Let’s rap about Crown Brush.

Goodness.gracious.wowsers.good.googla-moogla! I love these brushes! I first discovered them at The Makeup Show LA and was SHOCKED at how cheap they were. I’m talkin’ no more than $5 for a decent make-up brush. I’m serious!

And these aren’t some rinky dink cheap-o creep-0 raggedy brushes either. They are pretty decent as far as durability and quality goes. I can’t say much about the face brushes, though. Most of the Crown Brushes that I have are for eyes.

I HIGHLY suggest checking out these brushes if you are a newbie, make-up artist or just a regular make-up lovin’ chick or chap that loves a variety of brushes.

Click HERE to check out their Studio Series brushes. These are my favorites!

[NOTE]: I just know someone out there is going to inquiry if Crown Brush and Coastal Scents are the same company. Or if one owns the other. To be honest….I’m not sure, muffins. Some of my beauty bloggin’ sisters and I scratched our heads trying to figure this out. My guess is this: Crown Brush sells brushes to “private labels”. Coastal Scents is a private label and has purchased some of their brushes from Crown Brush. Hence why they look the same. However, I could be wrong. Feel free to add to the discussion. Ya’ll know I’m one big ole’ clump of mascara so don’t hesitate to correct me!

The Makeup Show NYC, Installment 4-Mommy Makeup

When I first tweeted about Mommy Makeup, I got a huge response! Mommies everywhere @replied to me and told me that they love the idea behind this company. And even though I’m baby-less for right now, I do too!

Creator Debra Rubin-Roberts, like most Moms on the go, has very little “me” time. Even getting ready for a date with the husband proved to be a challenge because while she couldn’t spend hours getting ready, she certainly didn’t want to go make-up free. So what did this award-winning make-up artist do? She came up with an idea to create a line full of multi-purpose products that can allow ladies to “look divine in half the time!”

Simply put, “Mommy Makeup is targeted at women who are looking to simplify their makeup routine without sacrificing results” (source)

That is all of us!

Mommy Makeup has products multi-uses products that makes applying make-up quick and easy. And from what I saw at The Makeup Show, there is something for everyone!

I immediately fell in love with Mommy’s Kisses ($24). They are lip glosses with lip liners in the cap. How innovative. The names of Mommy’s Kisses are named after Debra’s daughter’s friends. How cute is that? I picked up Abigail.

I am a lip liner junkie so it being right in the top of the lip gloss makes me happy! And the quality is good too. Not sticky and long-lasting.

Check out these babies (the glosses, not real babies, HA!) and more at MommyMakeup.com.

Like this line of cosmetics? Or have you tried anything from them?

The Makeup Show NYC, Installment 3-Body Art galore

It is easy to miss a lot at The Makeup Shows. Between the seminars, meet-ups, photo opps, workshops and exploring it is almost impossible to see EVERYTHING. But you really have to be blind as a bat to miss all of the fabulous body art around the show. Mehron does mouth-droppin’ kind of make-up.

….even Make Up For Ever artists got in on the act.

It was amazing watching the models transform. Body art makes me have an even greater appreciation for make-up!

What do you think, fam?
