Too Faced Summer Sexy Shadow Collection

Soooo apparently Summer 2013 started right before July. Has it always been that way? I don’t know. When you live in a state where there are two seasons (hot and hotter), it seems like summer is alllll the time. I’m a lover of summer collections. They are always so fun and cheerful. I got this Too Faced Summer Sexy Shadow Collection to review and it just screams summmahhhhh!

Too Faced Summer Eye 2013 Summer Sexy Shadow Collection

And what’s inside is kinda awesome too…

Summer Eye 2013 Summer Shadow Collection

This tin case contains 9 exclusive ‘resort-inspired’ eye shadows. Too Faced knows how to do a good eye shadow so I just knew the quality of this was going to be on point. And of course it didn’t disappoint. First, let’s talk about these 3 shadows to the left.

Too Faced Peach Fuzz

They’re gorge! They can probably be used as highlighters and blushes but with a very light hand. I found Peach Fuzz to be super glittery but I think it would work well under the brow bone. Or even for illuminating the skin if you like glittah.

Too Faced Sunbeam

Shadow-wise, I found that they were all pretty flattering.

My descriptions of ‘em:
Plumeria – A frosty cotton candy pink.
Coral Crush – a shimmery rose coral.
Mermaid – a shinning sea blue with shimmer.
Cocoa Beach – a bronzed mauve with gold shimmer.
Chocolate Sun – a milk chocolate with subtle gold shimmer.
Toasted Coconut – a toasted gray.

Each shadow (with the exception) of Tosted Coconut has some bit of shimmer it. I found that they all had nice pigmentation to them but if you’re looking to do some kind of smokey eye, you would probably need to use a shadow that isn’t in this palette.

Not too shabby for $36 and it is definitely a palette that represents summer. Too Faced rocks the house…again!

A Bead-y Bead-y Radiant Glow Face Powder!

Some products are just too pretty to touch. They have no business being in the hands of clumsy folx like me. Take this Too Faced Sweetheart Beads Radiant Glow Face Powder for example. I got it for review some time ago.

Too Faced Sweetheart Beads Radiant Glow Face Powder up close

Pretty, huh? These aren’t innovative. They’ve been around for quite some time but this is my first time owning and using a bead-y powder type deal. Can I be honest? I think I enjoy looking at these more than I like using them. Craziness, I know. These little bits of magic bring me so much joy just by looking at them.

Too Faced Sweetheart Beads Radiant Glow Face Powder in hand

I really don’t even need to apply them to my face to be happy. And you’re probably like, “What the heck is this for anyway, B?”. Welp. Good question… Think of it as an add-on AFTER you’ve applied your makeup. If your foundation is set, blush is in place and the lips are all glossed up, this baby will take your cheeks to the next level. Of course it’s not necessary but a little extra glow ain’t never hurt nobody.

Too Faced Sweetheart Beads Radiant Glow Face Powder macro

Nope. I found the glow to be far too fair for my complexion. Instead of a glow, I got a bit of an ashy wash of color. Oh boo. Can’t win ‘em all, B. Can’t win ‘em all. I know. All cosmetics aren’t made for all complexions and so I don’t think this one suits me best. I don’t care though. I still love looking in the tin and rolling it around my hand. I’m weird like that. Don’t judge me. I dare you to NOT stare at these beads.

Is it worth it?: It definitely isn’t an necessity in your daily makeup routine. Is it fun to have? Sure! My darker sisters may struggle with getting glow though.

Soooo is anyone else a sucker for packaging?

Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush

DSC_6087

This review would have been appropriate for Valentine’s Day but um yeahhhh, I totally forgot to put it up. Worry not. This darling little blush is still available on TooFaced.com. TF ruuuules in the packaging department. 9 times out of 10, my attraction to the brand starts at just a simple glare of their beauty baubles. Like this Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush. I recently received her for review.

DSC_6092

Presh, isn’t she? And she sits nicely in the balm of my hand…

DSC_6080

It’s been awhile since a blush has wooed me. And this is sad because I adooooore blushes.

What Too Faced says about this baby,

“Three swatches of rose, coral and peach packed into one pretty heart. Baked color formula allows the blush to be applied as a beautiful buildable finish. Blush works on all skin tones.” (source)

Oh. And if you’re an ingredient snob, it’s paraben-free too. I’m a bit of a rule breaker when it comes to products like these. You can probably get away with applying this blush as 3 separate shades but naw…I swirl them altogether and pop it right on the cheekies. Yeah.

DSC_6090

Frostier than I’d like, this is the kind of blush that works best with a highlighter.  I can probably get away with wearing the shade with the most pink in it best, but I find that they do better when used altogether. Plus, it’s just easier to apply that way? I mean, who has time to strategically apply only 1 or 2 of these shades? Yeah no. Keepin’ it simple is the way, yo.

Worn alone (meaning without foundation, tinted moisturizer or some kind of base) means she won’t last long so I definitely like to wear this on top of a lil somethin ‘somethin’. See…

Very subtle but it still gives my cheeks a nice dose of color in a pinch.

Love love love.

Price is a wee up there but she’s a speciality item so I get it. And she’s adorbs. Whatcha think? Are you in love?

Veganize Your Lippies with Too Faced’s Newest La Creme Lipsticks

So remember that time I showcased those amazing and vegan Too Faced La Creme lipsticks? Welllll, the geniuses at TF have given us 4 more shades and I couldn’t be happier.

DSC_6185

Because you can never have too many lipsticks. And anyone who tells you otherwise ain’t a friend. I’m just sayin’.

DSC_6183

DSC_6176

Say ‘ello to the new lovelies. I surprisingly love every single one. I’m a bit of Picky Patty when it comes to lip colors but I seriously don’t have any compliments about any of these. This is just a quick feature of these babies since I’ve reviewed them before.

Bumbleberry, Loganberry, So Berry Sexy, Teddy Berry

DSC_6197

Bumbleberry is a darkened pink that has a nice work appropriate touch to it. It’s the kind of lipstick that you can wear comfortably by itself but then apply a lipliner for some added WOW-ness.

DSC_6219

Loganberry is a highly pigmented magenta that rocks my world. This is MY kind of pink. It doesn’t require anything else. She is dynamic on her on. This is definitely my favorite of the bunch.

DSC_6223

So Berry Sexy is a rich blue-toned rose that I find that will likely compliment anyone who wears it. It’s my second favorite of the bunch.

DSC_6225

Teddy Berry could have been a grandma shade but no, somehow it works. It’s the perfect lippy to wear when you want something without having to look TOO made up.

Do I recommend: Absolutely. I love everything about the La Creme lipsticks. The packaging is darling, they are super moisturizing and they seem to last quite some time on the lips. The color selection is great and I think these 4 are a great addition to the bunch.

Rock on, Too Faced! You done well.

Mascara Monday: Too Faced 3-Way Lash Lining Tool

Too Faced 3 Way Lash Lining Tool

Okay, darlings…I don’t mean to deceive you but today’s Mascara Monday isn’t actually a mascara. But it IS a tool intended for the lashes. And since Mascara Mondays are typically always geared around “tools for the lashes”, I figured featuring this baby would be the perfect idea. Plus, believe it or not, even I need a break from reviewing mascaras every now and then. Yeah, I never thought I’d say it but shoot, y’all…reviewing mascaras is such a hard freaking job. *flips hair* Do you hear the violins yet? Teheheeee!

Too Faced 3 Way Lash Lining Tool 2

Price: $22 at Sephora or Sephora.com.
Packaging (brush wand):N/A
Overall: 3

What It Claims: “This innovative lash tool lets you become your own lash expert. The triple tip delivers ultra-black liner between lashes to fill spaces between lashes so that the lash line appears thicker, instantly. Fine points make it easy to define along the root of the lash line, for a more dramatic lash look. Three felt tips strategically line eyes with a more steady, smooth line, and all lines use a rich triple black coating to give a full, more even application. It’s great for creating the perfect cat eye.” (source)

The Truth: While it has a bit of a learning curve, this is undoubtly one of the coolest eye products I’ve come across in quite some time.

What I Loved About It: It really does give the appearance of thicker lashes.

What I Didn’t Like: It’s not Too Faced’s fault but man, if you don’t have a steady hand, you may struggle with this one.

Overall: This will be a different mascara review because well, it’s not really a mascara. Obviously though, right? Technically this is an eyeliner but I wanted to feature it on Mascara Monday because it also works beautifully at making the lashes look thicker. Which, of course, is such a desirable option for us guys and gals with funky lashes.

Too Faced 3 Way Lash Lining Tool 5

First, let’s talk about the 3 ways that you can use this tool.

Step 1:

Lash Emphasizing Dots: The 3 dots located on the tool are helpful in giving the appearance of thicker lashes. I had a hard time doing this. And even when I did, I didn’t notice much of a difference in the fullness of my lashes.

Step 2:

Tight lining- I had no idea what tight lining was before I began blogging. Apparently makeup artists use this method a lot to make the eyes look darker and more sultry. I actually like the way my eyes look when they are tight lined but getting the liner on my bottom of my upper lid AND then removing it so far too much work for my sensitive eyes.

Step 3:

Eyelining – But of course. If you struggle with applying eyeliner on the lower lashline, this tool is awesome because the dots are a great guide to help you get a straight line.

I should note that while I found the tool effective at all 3 functions, they ALL take quite some time to achieve if you’re a newb like me. I’ve always struggled with lining on or near my eyes. My hands are shaky and I just have a hard time making precise movements. So, yes there is a quite a learning curve but the results are worth it if you can push through.

Bare Lashes

The eye on the left has been tight lined but I don’t notice much of a difference. Do you?

Eyeliner on lower lashline

Do I recommend it?: If you’re looking for a new versatile tool, I think it’s worth a try. I didn’t notice too much of a difference in my lashes after tight lining and using the 3 dots but I think a lot of that can be attributed to my sensitive eyes. It works beautifully as a regular liquid eyeliner though.

Whatcha think? Is this a tool that you’d use for your lashes and eyes?

Too Faced La Crème Lipsticks

Come with meeeee and you’ll be…in a world of pure imagination! Guess that song and I’ll love you forever. And if you don’t know that song, click here and I guarantee that you’ll love me forever. Those lyrics slammed into my forehead the minute I saw these beautiful lipsticks.

DSC_1017

And should I really even call them lipsticks? I’m not sure because they are so insanely smooth that they almost feel like a balm. Their drugstore sister could be Revlon’s Lip Butters except these are creamier and are housed in prettier packaging. No shade to those Revvie  Lip Butters though because they are some kind of awesome. But these, m’dear. These decadent wonders called La Crème Lipsticks are just, well…they’re the bomb diggity. No doubt, baby.

DSC_1007

So what does Sephora have to say about these kids?

“Indulge lips with luxurious color and super moisturizers including white lotus flower and power peptides. This rich formula comes in abundant shades in four essential color ranges: nudes, spices, pinks, and reds. Edited to only the most fashionable shades, it’s impossible to pick just one.” (source)

These lippies are vegan-friendly, paraben-free and creamier than my favorite flavor of gelato. Which, by the way, is pistachio. Too Faced totes 16 various shades of these. Most are on the sheer side but still provide some kind of opaque finish. These are really like nice little treats for the lips because they aren’t only super moisturizing but feel amazing. I’ve got 5 of the shades to show off. But first, tell me how much you love the tube!

DSC_1010

Pretty royalty-licious, uh? They are slimmer than the size of a traditional lipstick so they’ll make for perfect makeup bag toting. Now as far the shades that I’ve got…

DSC_1024

Wowers. They are spectacular.

DSC_1043(l-r)
Fuchsia Shock,  Honey Bear, Naughty Nude, Razzle Dazzle, Spice Spice Baby

You know my favorite one, right? Fuchsia Shock, of course. Yes, it’s the brightest of the bunch but I found it to be the most wearable for me.

DSC_1786

And I love how it doesn’t require any lipliner. I can just apply and go. It’s such a beautiful raspberry. I dig the other neutral shades too but I’ve been finding myself gravitating towards Spice Spice Baby.

DSC_1782

It’s the perfect nude for me. And a good dude nude is so hard find.

These retail for $21 a pop so they aren’t your cheapest creamy lipsticks but they are worth every penny. The shade selection is nice, the packaging is impeccable, they are moisturizing and long-lasting AND they’re vegan. I need to go and haul the other 11. Please excuse me, y’all… Oh! You can snag these at Sephora, Sephora.com and TooFaced.com.
