FOTD Friday:The Bahamian Edition

Happy Friday!!

[Really quickly---I just wanted to send out my thoughts and prayers to the Jackson family. Michael Jackson's music was a staple in my household. He is a legend. And the beautiful thing about legends is that they live on forever. I believe in remembering the past and celebrating the present (Sankofa). He will join Luther Vandross, Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong, Marian Anderson and others. This PYT will always love you, MJ!]

It just occurred to me that I never posted photos of my trip to the Bahamas. And since my skin is currently enduring burns in 3 places (brown skin DOES get sunburned….I’ll spare you the photos) I didn’t that that doing a FOTD would not be a good idea.

So let’s do a POTD–Place of the Day.

Welcome to Nassau, Bahamas.

I’ve been here once before but really got to explore the city THIS trip.

The first two days were nothing but this…..

I know. Uneventful, right? It rained. And rained. And rained. And rained. Somehow, it didn’t bother me. Being able to sleep beyond 6 a.m. was vacation enough for me! And then around the 2nd day we were there….the sun came out!

Hey there Carnival!

View from my hotel room.

Outside of Atlantis…

….and then inside. The designs are breathtaking.

Fishes!

The sisters posing…

Every single time I travel, I ALWAYS have a hard time taking pictures of everything. I am too busy “taking in” the sites to even think about snapping shots. *sigh* More of a reason to return!

Off to the streets!

Thank you, Courtney for being natural in this photo..

Here goes my Dad…

“Hey Brit, look….there’s a MAC.”

Funny.

But I didn’t buy anything. Wait….now that I think about it, I didn’t get any souvenirs from the Bahamas. Mannnn….

Senor Frogs!

This photo is currently the background on my laptop. Loves it! And I loved the conch fritters there. I will say the BEST conch fritters eeeever are at The Conch Shake in Provos, Turks. Amazing!

Look! It’s ClumpsTV. Or Clumpsivision. LOL! Yes, I spent $14 to check good ole’ Clumps and to tweet. It was hard being Blackberry-less for almost a week.

More random shots!

What to wear on Paradise Island? A color liner, mascara and a glittery Dazzleglass. That’s all! LOL @ what I was listening to.

Sister shots….

opps, forgot to “smile with my eyes”. Next time, next time.

These chicks are clearly loving their desserts. LOL!

Of course the nails STILL got polished everyday. I’m rockin‘ Diamond Cosmetics’ Hot Summer Pink!

….and then back to Miami. We stayed at the beautiful Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach. A terrible storm hit and what happens? Lights go off in the hotel. And they don’t come back on. For hours. And hours. We ended up being forced to leave.

The horror.

The commotion….

But what’s any family vacay without some random “something” happening?

Oh! I also swam with dolphins which was an amazing experience that everyone must do once in their life.

Another great trip!

Next?

Back to NYC and definitely Vegas.

Doing any summer traveling? Take me with you!

Have a wonderful weekend!

The Makeup Show NYC, Installment 1-Around the city

Here we go! Time to start cranking out posts from The Makeup Show NYC. I have so many things to share with y’all that is just may take a week to get it all out. But something tells me you won’t mind. At least I hope not.

First up….random sites of the city. I’ve been to New York City several times before but I always felt like a “tourist”. This time, however, I didn’t stay in a hotel. I moved around via trains, buses and taxis and I didn’t even get lost.

Okay, that’s a lie. If you followed my tweets you know that I got crazy lost on the bus from NYC to Jersey. And not once, but twice. The Port Authority Bus Terminal is by far the most confusing creation ever!

Pero, I digress…on to the shots!

My first dinner in the city was in Harlem at Amy Ruth’s with my good friend Jasmine.

I love some good soul food. I’ve been to Sylvia’s and B. Smith’s before and I think I would rank Amy Smith’s as the best of the three. The salmon croquettes were seasoned to perfection.

And just because I love art in all forms..

While roaming the city aimlessly I found myself in Time Square.

But I didn’t stay there long. WAY too many tourists <--- says the tourist. On our way from a D&G Cosmetics event, Miss. Yaya and I ran into a street festival.

I wanted to hang around but we were on a mission. We grabbed a gyro and chicken-on-stick and jetted. My last few shots….

Fast forward a few days and my friend Nuratu, blogger Wes and blogger Mariyah and I all went to Sea Thai Restaurant.

Thai is one of my favorite cuisines and I have been to a dozen Thai restaurants. Um….this is so my favorite. Panang tofu is one of my favorite dishes and this was so good that I can still taste. Seriously!

Tis all for now. Stay tuned for the next installment of my experience at The Makeup Show NYC!

Always,

NYC Mobile Post

Hey family!

I’m just shootin’ you some quick photos of my time so far here in NYC. I so wish I could spead all of my photos out instead of ALL of them ending up at the top.

Ah well…

All pictures were taken with my Blackberry so if they look a little fuzzy….that’s why!

First photo is of New York City, of course! I was hangin’ out at a cafe off of 42nd and Lexington. Or something like that. Ha!

Next up is a darling little flower ring that I got from a wholesale shop for only $3. Actually…..I got A LOT of little goodies for only $2-$3. Blame those purchases on Miss. Yaya from I’ll Be My Own Judge; fellow beauty/fashion blogger.

My hair is LOVING Carol’s Daughter’s Hair Milk. I will do a formal review on this one but I just wanted to share with my family how much I love it. I am also supporting a mani I got done at Avanti Spa with Adina from KraseyBeauty.com. Nail polish fans…can you guess the color? Hint: it is a OPI color. And you thought it was Zoya’s Malia, uh?

Can you believe I only brought TWO palettes with me on this trip. What can I say? The NARS Bridal palette and Urban Decay (omg, what is it called again?) palette have everything I need! And as far as that Dove deodorant. Wow!! Stay tuned for a review and giveaway of that baby!

….and then of course, it’s me throwing up the deuces. Why do people do that? And why do you feel like you have to wear shades when you do it? Lol…craziness!

Today I will be at Saks off of 5th Avenue swooning over the work of celebrity make-up artist Pat McGrath. Right after is the Blogger Preview at The Makeup Show. And after that? Who knows? Sushi? Thai? Shopping? I’m up for anything!

I hope that you all are having a great weekend!!

Special love to my girl Tamar is has been holding down Clumps beautifully!

Stay beautiful,

Brittany
