Sista Showoff: Chocolate Brides

Welcome to another post from the Sista Show Off series! In this series I like to show some love to other companies, blogs, businesses, organizations or just regular ladies like myself who are paving the way for women everywhere! Let me feature you! Shoot me an email at Brittany@ClumpsOfMascara.com.

Okay y’all….I ain’t gettin’ married anytime soon but am I sucker for loving to see other folx happy and in love?

Okay maybe, but I don’t care because love is a beautiful thing. I love weddings. One of the best things about the weddings are the wedding photos. Ohmigoooodness, don’t they just melt your heart? Even if you don’t know the folx in the photos, you can’t help but feel happy for the couple.

Twitter, once again, has introduced me to a fabulous website.

ChocolateBrides.com

ChocolateBrides.com is a community of brown brides and newlyweds. Whether you need dress advice or support on loosing weight for the big day, CB has you covered! Just scrolling the sight makes me all happy day-ish. They’ve got articles on how to ease wedding jitters, photos of wedding parties and a slew of wedding ideas.

This so makes me want to get married tomorrow.

Okay, I’m kidding. But if you are a bride or know a bride or think you’re about to be a bride (hehe), stop by ChocolateBrides.com.

…..and don’t forget to invite me to the wedding so I can catch the bouquet.

Hahaha, I’m kidding!

No really, I am. :)

Because love is a beautiful thang,

Admit it….you have looked in the mirror before and said, “Hello Beautiful!”

*crickets*

C’mon yall….don’t make me out to be the only semi-vain person in here. You’ve done it before. You know you have. And you don’t do it because you are crazy full of yourself. Sometimes it feels good to feel beautiful. Of course on the inside, but also out the out.

That’s what HelloBeautiful is all about…..feeling good!

Hello Beautiful got its start from BlackPlanet.com (I used to be ALL over that site in college) and is a wonderful little portal for Women of Color. Whether its fashion, beauty, finances and relationships, Hello Beautiful is truly like visiting a friend’s home. You feel comfortable enough to let it all out on the message boards. You crack up over the postings from the featured bloggers. And nod your head in agreeance with interracial dating. Oh yes, it’s deep.

An article of mine pops up on the site every now and then too.

Stroll through and let me know what you think!

Goodbye Beautiful!

Sista Show Off: Fitness/Diet Blogs

As most of you know I have been actively training to run a 5K. I have been serious about fitness since July but I have kicked it up a notch within the past month or so. It is super hard to stay motivated. I can deal with eating healthy but forcing myself to run and sweat and lift weights is totally out of my element. Thank God for blogs like Gaining Beauty while Loosing Booty. This fitness trainer/Mommy really has been wonderful at keeping a beginner like me focused and motivated.

And then there’s the Diet Blog. I check this blog EVERY day. The posts are just as informative as the readers’ comments. The blog authors actually respond to your questions and are extremely helpful.

Talk about about a strong sista! Confessions of a Fitness Diva drops a ton of tips to help tone your flabby parts.

My other favorites include:

These blogs have been instrumental in inspiring me to stick to this new way of living. And don’t think you can’t do it. Had you told me a few months ago that I would be running 3 miles a day, I would have laughed at you. Soon I will be starting the Nike + program (I owe that one to you, Mischo!) and hope to make exercising as normal as breathing. Taking care of our bodies is beauty too!

Any athletes out there? Or anyone else working to loose weight or become more fit? Tell me!!

….and as always, stay beautiful!!
