Zoya Ornate Holiday Winter Nail Polish Collection

OMG OMG OMG! That was the first thing I said when I laid eyes on this collection. And I feel a bit crazy reviewing this so early considering I’ve got Fall collections that I haven’t even debuted yet but I haven’t been this excited about a collection in a looooong time. This Zoya collection is hands down one of the best nail polish collections this year.

Piccies

See what I mean? Every single one of these polishes are dynamic.

Aurora is described as a plum with multi color crystal shimmer. Basically it’s the most epic plum holographic nail polish that I have EVER seen. Yes, holographic! I didn’t really see this one coming. Aurora not only looks captivating in the bottle but she looks beautiful on the nails, as well. Holographic nail polishes are my favorite and I’m so excited to see Zoya on board with this one.

DSC_1249

Ziv is described as a gold foil glitter crystal. At first glance it looks like your typical gold nail polish but a closer look shows that Ziv has some subtle shimmer spark to it. Ziv applies smoothly but I’m loving how there’s a burst of a brighter golden oomph to it.

Electra is a holographic tinsel and I could seriously just stare at this bottle all day. If you’re a fan of bar glitter, you’ll love this polish. You either love love love or get annoyed by bar glitter. I stand right in the middle. I think they look pretty funny when worn alone but I dig ‘em layered on other polishes.

Magical, right?

Logan is a green foil glitter crystal and it looks a lot like Ziv. Except green, obviously. I had to do some tweaking to show the depth of this polish. The gold specks in it is apparent in the polish but on the nails, it provides such a beautiful shimmery effect. It’s definitely one of the most beautiful green nail polishes I’ve come across. And I have a lot stunning green Zoya polishes!

Blaze is described as a cranberry glitter glam crystal and it’s another stunning holographic. My camera couldn’t even capture the true essence of how bling-y this polish is. It’s doesn’t seem to have as much holographic shimmer as Aurora but it is just as beautiful. I don’t think I own any berry holographic polishes so Blaze is a welcome addition to the family.

And lastly, is the black holographic baby of the family, Storm. I’ve got about two black holographic polishes but dang, I think Storm is my favorite because although it’s black, you can still peep the holographic shimmer up close and far away.

Must Haves:
Aurora – If you don’t get anything else, THIS is the one you haaaaave to get.
Electra- Especially if you’ve been wanting a bar glitter.
Logan – For green nail polish lovers.
Storm – Because it’s one epic black holographic.

I really don’t have any complaints about this collection. Each polish applied beautifully (as do all Zoya polishes) and I applied 2 coats for each polish. I love every single polish and I love how Zoya really surprised us with the holographic polishes. Seriously! Who expected that? Yep, I definitely feel comfortable declaring this as my favorite nail polish collection of the year. Way to go, Zoya!

You can scoop up these polishes for $8 a pop or $48 for the entire collection at Zoya.com.

Zoya Diva collection

I figured I should go ahead and crank this Zoya review out of the way because in a few weeks they’ll be launching their Winter collection. I can NOT believe that it’s already winter. Craziness. Anywhoovers, if you haven’t seen ‘em,  Zoya’s jelly collection, Gloss was freaking awesome and Designer wasn’t half bad either. The Diva collection is part III of the Fall 2012 collections.

Let’s get a look see at ‘em…

Suri is royal purple metallic and it is dynamic. I’m not a fan of the color purple unless it’s a rich and jewel toned as this one. Plus, I love this color because of the name. Anyone read the hilarious blog Suri’s Burn Book?

Elisa is a crimson metallic it’s quite the fire bomb of a nail polish. It’s a gorgeous red and you can detect a bit of orange in it when it hits the light.

Feifei is described as a magic blue foil sparkle metallic and it’s one of the two foil polishes in this collection. These type of nail polishes are just so so for me but I really love the shimmer in Feifei.

Ray is pine green metallic and it’s a beautiful hunter green with subtle shimmer.

Daul is described as a magic violet foil sparkle metallic and it’s got the same formula as Feifei. I like Daul better because that violet is just so eye catching and gorgeous.

Song is an Egyptian blue metallic with a subtle sparkle and it’s a little more vibrant than Zoya’s Tart, one of my favorite blues EVER.

Must Haves:
-Elisa: Very rarely do I recommend red polishes (because there are so many) but Elisa is just stunning.
-Daul: Awesome name, awesome formula and unlike anything I’ve ever seen before.
-Song: Only if you don’t have any beautiful blues like this one.

Yay for this collection! The formula for each polish was awesome and I enjoyed the random foils tossed in. Zoya Diva collection is currently available at Zoya.com for $8 or $48 for the entire collection.

Which polish is your fave?

Amor de Lacquer: Zoya Designer collection

I’m back with another collection from Zoya’s Fall 2012 collections. I’m still swooning over the jellies that were the Gloss collection. Designer features 6 shades of my favorite nail polish formula ever…creamies!! Woo hooo!

Look at those luscious creams!

Evvie is described as an evergreen green cream and it’s unlike any kind of polish that I own. It’s such a beautiful and smoky hunter green. Fantastic!

Rekha is a blood red cream and while Zoya has plenty of red cream polishes, this one isn’t as bright as the others. Don’t let this picture fool you. It is actually a bit more muted.

Natty is a smoked navy blue cream and it is perfection. I love true blue polishes but Natty is goooorgeous!

Toni is a dark maroon red cream and don’t ask me why but it looks to be more of the dusty berry side. Not that I’m complaining though.

Monica is a dark mulberry purple cream is definitely my favorite of the bunch. Of course I don’t NEED any more purple creams but man…Monica is so pretty!

Noot is a charcoal green gray cream and as much as a I like it, it looks a lot like Evvie – just not as gray. I love both shades but they definitely fooled me as they almost look identical at a quick glance.

Must Haves:
-Natty
-Monica

This collection is currently available on Zoya.com for $8 a bottle. See any that you like?

Amor de Lacquer: Zoya Gloss Collection

So despite the fact that I still have some summer nail polish collections to show you, I’m going to skip over a few of them and debut this awesome Fall collection. I really should have waited, but shoot – I couldn’t wait. Jelly nail polishes happen to be one of my favorite finishes (after holographic and creme, of course) and I just couldn’t NOT show y’all this collection right there.

There are only 3 polishes in this collection. But that’s okay, because Zoya has 2 other Fall collections and each one of those has 6 polishes. So we’re covered!

Katherine is a sheer eggplant jelly gloss and I must say…I wasn’t too excited about this one. And not because I’m not a fan of eggplant/burgundy shades but because getting this to cover the nail completely was quite the task. I did 3 coats here and still wasn’t able to get an uneven application. Oh boo, Katherine. Boo.

Frida is a sheer teal blue jelly gloss but I would definitely put it more in the hunter green department in terms of shade. Maybe light hunter green? Like all of these polishes, I found that my nail line is quite visible which doesn’t bug me. I didn’t try but I suppose with 4-5 coats (gah!), I have achieved more of an opaque finish. Maybe?

Paloma is a sheer berry red jelly gloss and this is my absolute favorite of the bunch. Formula-wise, she is just like her sisters but I really appreciate the berry shade. It looks far more friendly on my nails than the other shades. AND – my nail lines weren’t as visible with this shade as they were with the others.

Such a cool collection, uh? While Katherine and Frida were on the “interesting” side, I was still happy to see Zoya push it to the limit. Jelly polishes were once super popular (like back in the 90’s) and I’m glad to see them come back via a major nail polish brand. So yes. I’m happy! Many nail polish fanatics are into the jelly sandwich bit. It’s where you apply glitter nail polish and then layer a jelly polish over it for a squishy muted glitter look. Not really my style but the jelly sandwiches I’ve been seeing look fantastic!

Oh! And this collection is currently available on Zoya.com. You can buy the entire collection or buy them individually at $8 a pop.

Whatcha think about jelly nail polishes? Yay or nay?

Amor de Lacquer: Zoya Beach collection

If you haven’t seen the fierceness that is Zoya’s Surf collection, you can check it out here. The faternal twin to that collection is Beach and this collection mimics Beach but the finishes in Surf are creamier. If you’re a fan of bright creams, girlfriend, you’re going to love this collection.

Shelby is a soft pinky pink cream. There’s nothing terribly unique about this color but it fits beautifully with all of the other kids in this collection.

Arizona is a soft coral orange cream and it reminds me of a orange float. Please tell me you’ve had those. It’s a combination of orange soda and vanilla ice cream and giiiiirl, you haven’t lived until you’ve had one. Arizona is just as creamy and divine.

Lara is a such a vivid cerise pink cream and bay bayyyy, this is such a gorgeous pink. Is it on my toes right now? You betta believe it!

Reagan is a deep cerise pink cream and it’s a my second favorite pink of the bunch. It’s got a bit of purple to it and it’s all berry-tastic and whatnot.

Tracie is a sea grass metallic and it’s an interesting foil. I had to tweak the color a bit to make it look accurate. It’s not my favorite green but it’s pretty enough.

Wednesday is a soft aqua cream that makes photographing it weird. I wore this polish on a Tuesday a few weeks ago and felt like such a boss. Because wouldn’t it make sense to only wear Wednesday on Wednesday? Haaaa!

Crazy how my iPhone can take a better picture of Wednesday than my super duper DSLR can. Womp.

Must Haves
-Arizona. Because it has less calories than an orange float. Ha!!
-Lara. Such a gorgeous pink (or pank if you’re from the South) it is.

Formula-wise these polishes are good. Because they’re creams, you’ll have to put a little work into them but overall they didn’t give me any problems. I used 2 coats for each polish. I dig Zoya’s Surf collection more and I was a little annoyed that this collection had THREE pinks but there are some winners so I’m not complaining. I’d like a little more shock value from Zoya though. Hopefully those Fall collections should be better.

How you feelin’ about this collection?

Amor de Lacquer: Zoya Surf collection

Summer has totally surpassed Spring here in Orlando, Florida and I couldn’t be happier. Ask me that when the sweltering weather gets here and I may renege that I ever made this statement. Ha! This collection includes 6 gorgeous polishes with foil metallic finishes.

Mryta is medium-dark orange with lighter orange shimmer that reaches an opaque finish with 2 coats. This was my favorite of the bunch. I absolutely love orange nail polishes and so one with a foil finish just brings me so much joy. And I know what you’re thinking but no, this doesn’t look like China Glaze’s Riveting. Riveting is much brighter.

Kimber is a coral-red with warm orange-gold shimmer and of course it’s my second favorite. This baby is a beaut. It’s like a silvery and bright terracotta. It looks stunning and if you don’t get any other polish from this collection, this is definitely the one you’re going to want to get.

Meg was probably named after the daughter from Family Guy but that’s neither here nor there. 8) This warm, lightened grassy green with chartreuse shimmer photographed so funky that I had to do some editing to show you its true color – so please excuse the pink in my fingers. This polish reminds me of money, baby. So of course I like it. Woot!

Zuza is blue-based aqua with silver shimmer and it’s quite reminiscent of the waters in the Bahamas. I’d love it more if it didn’t stain the nails. This is the case with many polishes of this hue. Even with a base, they tend to stain. Which is totally unfortunate because I adore beautiful aqua shades like Zuza. The first pic is of Zuzu after some doctoring up.

Carly is a rich eggplant purple with strong magenta-red undertones and magenta-pink and violet shimmer and whoa, how refreshing is it to see shades like this in summer collections? I love, I love, I looooove!

Rory is a a silver-shimmered cotton candy pink with strong blue undertones and she’s pretty just now my style. You know…with her being pink ‘an all. My crazy cam is giving her more “purple” but nope, she pink.

Must Have’s:
-Mryta: So gorge!
-Kimber: For the ultimate pedi color this summer!
-Carly: Hot stuff!

I received an opaque finish after 2 coats for each polish. I think Zoya did an awesome job with this collection. There’s a little bit of something for everyone.

Whatcha think? See any you like? You can grab these polishes for $8 a pop or the entire collection for $48 at Zoya.com.

Amor de Lacquer: Zoya Spring 2012 – True and Fleck Effect collections

I love nail polish brands that stay up on the trends. Some choose to ignore them completely and others become annoyingly obsessed with them. Zoya sits right in the middle and still remains to shock us beauty bloggers. I’m shooting you with 2 collections in one post but only because I didn’t want you to have to wait for me to crank out another post.

I’m so nice, uh? And modest too. 8)

First up, it’s the True collection!

This collection is full of traditional Spring-y shades but with a TON of personality to them. Now that I think about it…they aren’t so traditional at all. Which is quite refreshing. I also found that each and every one of these polishes were opaque at 2 coats. Yes. TWO. That hardly ever happens with softer creams. Zoya is boss, yo.

Skylar is a silvered slate blue metallic. It looks a bit muted outside but when some light hits it…oh baby, this blue is the bomb. I don’t think I have a shade like this. The best thing about it is while it does have glitter specs in it, it isn’t difficult to remove. Very pretty. Oh, and I know like 13 kids under the age of 5 with the name Skylar. It’s one of those popular names, ya know? Like Brittany. Pfft.

Bevin is a pale sage green green that looks to be a little on the dusty/gray side. I love it though. It’s so mod and unusual. It is definitely Spring-y in that it reminds me a lot of…well, okay…it doesn’t really remind me of anything. It’s just so darn groovy.

Farah is a latte beige cream. Want to know the truth about this color? I don’t know if I like it or not. I know, I know. I should have made up my mind by now but I just….I don’t know. On one hand, I think shades like this look a little fugly on my complexion and on the other hand, I think it looks classy. I just…I don’t know about you, Farah, darling. I’ll tell you one thing about this kid…she is one opaque mama!

Tru is described as a  gilded purple orchid metallic. Dear heavens this shade is gorgeous. It is so up my alley, y’all. Yes, yes, I know….I pretty much love purple everything but this is just stunning.

Cho is a full coverage, vanilla shimmer metallic and it took everything in me to not remove the C and add a P. P for Pho. I love pho. Anywhoovers, this shade….*sigh* I am still on the fence with it like I am with Farah. I guess I’m not used to seeing these kind of shades on me and so I have to get used to them.

Lotus is a full coverage, light lotus purple metallic and another winner in my book. As the description says, it’s a lighter purple so it isn’t as rich in color like Tru. It has a bit more gray in it and you can see neon pink shimmer in it when it hits the sun.

Must Haves:
-Tru. For reals. Don’t even play around and NOT get this one.
-Bevin. Because have you seen a green so pretty AND so opaque?

Next up is the Fleck Effect collection. Keep in mind that these 3 polishes are intended to go on top of other shades. They are layering polishes. Can you wear them solo? Well, yeah…. No one is going to stop you from doing that. But they REALLY come to life when layered on top of nail polishes. I think flakies look amazing over dark polishes. Ideally blacks, greens, burgundies and murky purples. Zoya is giving us 3 special kind of flakie polishes. What makes them special? They are emerged in a colorful base. I’ve never seen that before! Go Zoya go!

The shades…

Opal – Green tint with mylar green fleck effect
Chloe – Pink tint with mylar green and gold fleck effect
Maisie – Blue tint with mylar green fleck effect

Aaaand, up close.

Just to give you an idea of how they do over light and dark colors, I swatched a nail with each shade. The base for this is Zoya’s Cho.

Not my idea of a good time. The party really starts over a darker base. The base here is Zoya’s Envy, a dark green polish, almost black.

Pretty cool, uh? Please forgive me as I get acquainted with this new lens that I have. Considering flakies are the newest trend, I would definitely scoop these up if I were you. You can never have too many. Maisie and Chloe look a lot alike but if I had to choose one over the other, I’d go with Chloe.

This collection will be available on January 13th at Zoya.com. Get your pennies ready!

Amor de Lacquer: Zoya Gems and Jewels Holiday 2011 collection

Who better to break in the holiday nail polish collections than my dear ole’ Zoya? This is one fantastic collection simply because it contains lots of stunning colors AND glitters. Yup.

Go ahead and get your dance on.

Izzy is a bright magenta that is just gorgeous. It has a bit of a foil-y finish and will make a fantastic pedi color.

Holly is a bright green metallic that rocks my world. I remember when there weren’t many emerald green polishes on the market and I’m glad to see another one.

Noel is a light denim blue. I can’t put my finger on any shades like it in my stash. I much prefer darker and richer blues but this one is okay.

Rina is opaque at 3 coats but I wanted to show you swatches of it at one so you can get an idea of how it looks on its own. Thank you for this one, Zoya! An emerald bar glitter? I don’t think we’ve seen anything like this.

Twila is another bar glitter with a bit of holographic shimmer in it. I used 3 coats for this one.

Kissy is like a party in a bottle. It is fantastic alone but really shines over Izzy. Izzy and Kissy. Hahahaa!

The corresponding colors and their glitters.

Holly and Rina

Izzy and Kissy

Noel and Twila

I really love this collection. I’ve never come across a Zoya polish whose consistency bugged me and these are no exceptions. I used 2 coats for each polish but did 3 coats for the glitter. I was glad to see that they gave me an opaque finish. It would have sucked something serious if these glitters were super sheer. This is one unique holiday collection and aside from it being a great little stocking stuffer, I think it’ll please nail polish lovers everywhere. You can get it online at Zoya.com for $8 a bottle or $48 for the whole set.

Must Haves:
-Holly: But only if you don’t already have a stunning emerald polish.
-Kissy: Nothing else like it exists. Well, not that I know of.
-Twila: Sheer blue beauty in a bottle.
