If you ever wanna know just every characteristic about me, read the definition of a Capricorn. I’m not even lyin’. Every bit of those horoscope descriptions describe me to a tee. It’s weird. They say that Capricorns have the tendency to be negative and yeah, I can definitely a be “glass is half full” type person every now and then but when it comes to analyzing an entire year, I could never label an entire year as BAD.
Seriously – how can people say things like “2012 sucked”? Wait. The ENTIRE year sucked? Every minute? Every day? Every month? What about that whole “You woke up every day.”-thing. Doesn’t that matter? Yeah. I don’t get it. Life is precious and even if it isn’t perfect, I value it. And I appreciate it because I know in a split second it could be gone.
So here’s why 2012 rocked for me…
I was physically active
Before I got pregnant, I was at the gym 4-5 times a week. I was running without stopping, lifting 30 lb weights and yoga-ifying my life. I’m not sure how much weight I lost but I just FELT good. 2013 will bring new challenges with my post-baby body but I can’t wait to get active again and train for a 5K and maybe even a 10K.
Esposo and I moved into our own place.
We didn’t do that whole shacking up thing before we got married (because I’m old-fashioned like that) so it was tough having to consolidate everything and learn how to live together. But hey, I think we’re doing okay now. What I really mean is: As long as the house is immaculately clean at all times, Esposo gets to live. 😀
I held 4 ambassador positions.
Being a blogger isn’t enough for me. I’ve invested 5 years in this business and want to be considered an authority in the beauty arena and the highest level of that (at least in my book) is being asked to directly represent a brand. It’s an honor and one that I don’t take lightly.
I got pregnant.
I always had these “What if I can’t get pregnant?” fears and my gynecologist’s “Get knocked up before 30 or else…” scare tactics did nothing to ease those fears. Baby Clumps’ existence is just a miracle and I am so blessed to be her mommy. Some women dream about being a mom. Others could care less. I’ve always sat comfortably in the middle but I think I am the type of woman that Baby Clumps can be proud of.
I landed on 2 beauty in-store displays in Walgreens and Target.
Seeing my name and picture online is cool. But seeing it IN a store is nothing short of amazing.
I was financially savvy.
I not only paid off 1 credit card but consolidated another and I’m on a road to become debt-free. I cut my spending tremendously. I may have spent under $200 on random things for myself. I’ll probably be paying Sallie Mae forever though. Ugh. Whatever.
My marriage flourished.
Okay, we’re not perfect. We argue but I promise you – we’ve never been mad at each other for more than an hour. We’re learning how to be better people and a better couple. It’s been a tough road but it has been so so sooooo fun.
I was never bored.
The last time I was bored, I was like…7 years old. 2012 had me crazy productive. I probably worked a bit TOO much but I have the type of personality where if I’m not swamped in work, I feel inadequate.
I spoke at The Makeup Show Orlando.
That was cool stuff. It wasn’t my first speaking engagement but it was pretty darn cool to speak about what I love most in the city that I live in.
I tried.
Which is all anyone can do in life, right? I put my best foot forward in several areas of my life and even if things didn’t turn out the way I wanted them to, I can go to bed tonight and know that…I tried.
2013 will be better though. Because I said so. 😎 Thanks for hangin’ out with me this year. Let’s reconvene in 2013, uh?
Oh…and what made your 2012 awesome? Please brag about your awesomeness.
Congratulations on all your major successes to you this year! You are one of the most positive people I know, and I admire you for that. 🙂
You’re so wonderful, Steph!! Thank you, thank you. Can’t wait to see what 2013 brings us. 🙂
This totally cheered me up. You are such a positive individual and this made me smile, big time.
Awww, so glad to hear that. Happy New Year to you, mama!
I love your positivity!
Three things that made 2012 awesome for me: I got engaged, I graduated from law school (& passed the bar), and people started reading my blog! It’s been a great year.
May 2013 be even better!
Um…wow!! You managed to keep that awesome blog of yours going while in law school? You are certainly my heroine of 2012. 🙁 And super congrats on the engagement. Yay for wedding planning!
New reader here. 🙂 I’m a Capricorn too, and yep, most of the characteristics fit me as well.
Looks like you had an overall awesome year. Congratulations on all your success!
Good parts of my 2012: I met a lot of great people, finally feel like I got the hang of my new job duties (I got promoted and now have more advanced/complicated duties), and helped finish a major project at work. There’s another project on the horizon but I feel I can tackle it.
All the best for 2013 to you and your family. Happy New Year!
2012 is great because I found you!
Awww, Jyoan! I’m so glad we crossed e-paths. *hugs*
Sounds like you had an amazing year! I hope 2013 will be even better for you!
Thanks Gio!
Brittany, you are so awesome! I feel so blessed that you share that awesomeness with the world and keep me inspired.
After two continuous years of stress and hustle, I finished degree #2 on 12/21/12. When I think back to how terrified I was to go back to school, how I didn’t think I was smart enough, it’s been too long since I last went to school and I’m too old now, the commute to the campus is just too much, a full-time job and school with kill me, the kids and hubby won’t cooperate, and how fear and excuses almost got the best of me and shut me down, I’m still in a state of disbelief that I made it through such a tough university and with a 3.85 GPA. God is just that amazing and I praise Him everyday for His grace! Looking forward to a new career, focusing on health and wellness, and learning more about myself in 2013.
You finished!! Congratulations!! You should be beyond proud of yourself. You’re so wonderful, Lavendar.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
You are an awesome beauty blogger! I learn a lot from you. Congrats on all you have accomplished. And congrats on getting pregnant too.
Thanks so much, darling. And congrats on your bundle too!
Getting to you know you better made 2012 Rock 🙂 What a great list!
