Have you made your New Year’s resolutions yet? Don’t forget to add some beauty resolutions to the list. I don’t just focus on the usual “exercise more” or “eat healthier.” I try to make resolutions for all aspects of my life, including beauty. If you need some help, steal some of my resolutions and we’ll all have a beautiful new year.
Use Better Beauty Brushes
I’m so guilty of using my fingers for everything or using the wrong brushes for my makeup needs. This year, I’m making a point of buying a set of beauty brushes that include brushes for foundation, concealer, eye shadow, blush, powder and anything else I might need. I’m also planning on buying brush cleaner to keep my brushes in the best shape possible. Hopefully, the end result is a more flawless look than ever before.
Try New Eye Shadow Looks
Raise your hand if you always use the same few eye shadow colors and styles. Yeah, I tend to get in a rut sometimes too. Since I’m usually in a hurry, I dab on my favorite color and head out. This year, I plan to try out bright new shades and master the art of the smokey eye and using multiple shades effectively. I challenge you to do the same.
Easing Up On The Heat
If you’re anything like me, you punish your hair every time you style it. I put mine through the blow dry, flat iron, curling iron torture routine several times a week. I try to make it up to my hair with plenty of soothing serums, but I’m tired of all the heat. This year, I resolve to ease up on the heat styling. After all, what’s the point of all the hard work if I’m just damaging my hair in the process? I plan to try products that dry and style at the same time to reduce the time my hair spends in the heat.
Try New Hair Styles
We all have a few go to hair styles. Why not try something new? This year, I’m giving my hair a makeover. I’m planning to start with a new cut and then try out tons of new styles. Forget about the same old look. This will be the year of the hair.
Master Contouring And Highlighting
What’s this you might ask? I didn’t think much of it either until I had a free makeover and the makeup artists made my face look amazing! Contouring and highlighting is the art of using makeup to change the shading and even shape of your face for a brighter, more youthful appearance. It’s actually easy, but it will take a little practice to get right.
Okay, so those are my New Year’s resolutions for beauty. What are you planning to change this coming year?
I need to get trying different eyeshadow as well

Got your eyes on any? Haha, see what I did there? :p
Yes, to contouring and highlighting! I bought the Bobbi Brown bronzing powder for contouring (because it has NO glitter or shimmer) and it’s amazing. It gives you just the right *glow* on the cheekbones. After just a few weeks of wearing it I feel naked without it!
Ooooh, so I’ve seen lots of convincing pics of that palette but I haven’t gotten any reviews from it yet. I’m going to check it out. Thanks for the mini review!
I do beautylutions every year too! This year I’m focused on my hair. I need to nurse it back to health!!!!

I like the word beautylutions! And I hear you!! My hair could definitely use some pampering.
Not even gonna lie, i quit doing resolutions of any kind like 10 or more years ago. My goal is to stay Sephora VIB, maybe make rouge again but mostly buy what i love.
