I was selected by Disney to attend these events and experiences. This was an all-expense paid opportunity and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Writing a movie review is hard. I want nothing more than to tell you alllllll about Black Panther but I can’t tell you too much without giving it away.
I also don’t want to tell you what you may already know.
I’m not going to lie to you. The movie was really good. I’m not just saying that because I’m obsessed with the actors and actresses in the film. I’m not saying that because I got to see many of them on the purple carpet the night of the World Premiere.

My knowledge with Marvel filmsis limited so if you’re one of those people who don’t know much about Marvel history and characters but wonder if you should see Black Panther, this review is for you.
Because you’re a Marvel fan…or not.
If you think you’ll have to know a ton of history about the Avengers before popping in to see Black Panther, think again. Though I’ve seen both Avengers, I had no problem with jumping in and understanding Black Panther. It truly is a standalone movie so don’t feel that you’ll be lost while viewing. I loved that the Writers kept us non-geeks in mind.
Go see it to support black folx
Yeah, I said it. If you’re like me and love seeing positive representations of Black people on the big screen, spending your hard earned dollars to support a film like Black Panther tells Hollywood, “We like this and want to see more of this!” I firmly believe in supporting with my coins and happily purchased tickets to see the movie on Opening Night.
It’s just so beautiful
We can say this about all Marvel films, right? When I learned what went into creating Wakanda and then seeing it on the screen, I was left in absolute awe. Trust me when I say, you won’t be ready. You think you’re prepared for the beauty that lands on the screen, but you won’t be. The beauty is overwhelming.
The Emotions…so many emotions!
I didn’t expect to laugh so much in this movie. Or cry. Or feel just downright verklempt. You may go through a range of emotions and I didn’t expect this because, HELLO, it’s an action movie! There aren’t supposed to be feels, right? Whether you feel just so happy to see so many people of color on the screen or you get wrapped up in the characters’ storylines, you may walk away feeling like you got hit in the feels. Don’t worry. You’ll be in great company.
The movie will stick with you
I love when movies stick with me. That means they resonated with me and I take that feeling and put a little more umph in my walk. Black Panther will do this. You’ll be thinking about it days after you see and will want to see it again and again. It’s the kind of movie where you’d consider dehydrating yourself just so that you don’t have to use the restroom during the showing. You won’t want to walk away. And while some movies feel incomplete or leave me with an ending that leaves me scratching my head, Black Panther feels whole. And that’s a very comforting feeling.
Hang in there! Only a few more weeks until you can see Black Panther for yourself. I can’t wait to hear what you think about it!
Marvel Studios’ BLACK PANTHER lands in theaters on February 16th!
