Smart people read books.
It’s a fact. I’m a podcast junkie (maybe I should do a blog post on my FAVORITE podcasts) and the common thread among all of my favorite podcast hosts is that they read books regularly! Millionaires, highly successful people, less-stressed people and business savvy people read books.
What’s my excuse again?
I read a tooooon of books in 2015 but slid down a tunnel of excuses in 2016. I only read a few books. I’m getting back on track and unlike some of these podcastin’ peeps, I’m adding fiction books to my list.
Because as much as I love self-help and business books, I love a fiction novel that can take me away from all of the crap going on in the world. African-American lit, cheesy love novels, the Harry Potter series, mystery pieces that I can’t put down…I’m into it all.
And so for this year, here’s what I’m currently reading and what I plan to read. I’ll keep this list updated throughout the year. Don’t leave me hangin’! I want to know what you’re reading, too. My goal is a book a month but if I stay on my track, I think I can crank out a good 2 books a month.
Oh, and you guys…don’t judge me here but guess what I discovered last week? THE LIBRARY! I’m so far removed from college and my last experience with a library was being an undergraduate student hovering over a book studying for an exam at the very last minute. And I haven’t regularly hopped around in one ever since. I got a library card, picked up some books for the kids and instantly started downloading an audiobook through Overdrive. The same book was sitting in my Amazon Wishlist.
I.am.thrilled. If listen to countless hours of podcasts weekly. I can do the same with actual books. Consumption is consumption, right?
With that said…check out my list…
