Last weekend I had the opportunity to link up with one of my favorite bloggers ever!! Patrice from Afrobella.com is a legend, yall. Her beauty/lifestyle/traveling/everything amazing blog was wait….I think she may have been the first brown girl blogger that I stumbled upon.
Yes, yes I think she was! I loved how she openly talked about natural hair and how to take care of it. I developed a certain kind of confidence that I never had prior to wearing my hair natural and I like to think that Afrobella assisted in that in some way.
I consider her to be a HUGE blog celebrity but she was crazy down to earth. We had girl talk over pina coladas at a lovely poolside bar.
So how great is thee Afrobella? Great enough to have an event in HER honor?
Check it:
Time: June 20, 2009 from 6pm to 9pm
Location: Three Peas Art Lounge
Organized By: Luvvie (another blogger friend I just adore!)
Event Description:
Come join The Red Pump Project for an evening of relaxing, socializing, drinks & fun after the Blogging While Brown Conference wraps up. Let’s also welcome Beauty Blog Extraordinaire, Afrobella to Chicago. She’s the special guest of honor and will be gracing us with her presence.
There will be a cash bar and raffles of various prizes. Women, rock your red pumps. Men, rock your red ties! ALL proceeds from this event will go to benefit the Chicago Women’s AIDS Project, the only gender-specific HIV service nonprofit organization in Chicago.
Why oh why can’t I be in Chicago this time around? I am a huge supporter of The Red Pump Project and would love to hang out with these bellas but alas I can’t. If you are in the Chicago area, you should definitely attend!
It's great that you guys got to meet while supporting a great cause!! She seems very sweet & sincere(as do you).
I have been following her for quite some time. She was recently in NYC & blogged about her trip every step of the way. Right then & there I planned my next trip back to 'The Big Apple'..I leave in September–LOL!
Love you, B! You rock my socks AND my tights!!! 😀
lucky gal! I loove her blog!
