Hair. It’s a big thing, right? I mean, I don’t care if you’re a little girl or living it up in your octogenarian years, chances are you have some issues with your hair. I’m with you, sister. My hair and I have such a love-hate relationship that many days, I’m shocked to see that my hair hasn’t run away from me. It sounds dramatic, I know, but I’m not always that sweet and attentive to my curls. I’ve gotten better but man, I used to color, perm and toss heat on my hair and then get livid when it wouldn’t grow. Isn’t that some craziness? Why do we do that? We put our strands through the ringer and then get furious when they aren’t “cooperating” with us.
My hair has gone through some serious journeys. I can always tell where I was in my life by how my hair looked. Some gals can rock the same hairstyle for months and years, but nope…that’s never been me. I switch it up regularly and have been doing so since I was 18-years old. Like this pic?
I took that while lounging in my dorm room. I had relaxed hair, was about 19-years old and was in a place where I was really complacent about my hair. It was until I chopped it off months later that I really began to love what grew naturally from my scalp.
Since then, I’ve tackled just about every hairstyle in the natural hair world. From afros, afro puffs to twists, braids, extensions, locs and a rainbow of colors, my hair has been an expression of self while loving life in my 20’s and 30’s. I’ve even shaved my hair completely off. Not once, but twice. The beauty in all of this is, is that my hair continues to be my crown and I find that it represents me in such a dynamic way. No one has hair like me. Well, yeah…there are plenty of ladies rocking afros. But no one’s afro looks like mine. It’s a beautiful thang. I’m betting you can say the same thing about your hair too, right?
Because I’m passionate about my hair, I’m pretty picky about what I put in it. SheaMoisture has been a go-to brand for yearsssss now. I’m not kidding. Check my Instagram feed where you’ll find pictures of me buying SheaMoisture products that I probably don’t need but will hoard anyway for…you know, reasons.
SheaMoisture’s Jamaican Black Castor Oil line has been a HUGE hit in the beauty world and I’m seeing what the hype is all about. I’ve been a lover of Jamaican Black Castor Oil due to its nourishing and moisturizing properties so to see this oil in SheaMoisture products, well…it’s a serious match made in healthy hair heaven. I’ve been using the Replenishing Shampoo, Strengthen Grow & Restore Conditioner and the Intensive Strengthening Masque.
They all work beautifully when used together, but that Masque is perfect. I slathered it all over, put it on my hair for a good 2 hours and after rinsing, I was left with some seriously manageable and moisturized curls. But of course. This is the kind of performance I expect and always receive from SheaMoisture products.
I love when hair products make me fall in love with my hair even more. Do you have any hair products that do that for you? I’d love to know about your hair journey and if your hair’s current state representative of where you are in life.
But more importantly, do you love your hair?

I love that line from Shea Moisture…and my hair!
Aren’t they wonderful? I love everything from them!
This is my absolute favorite line from SheaMoisture!!! I’ve purchased several bottles of the shampoo over the last few months. I can’t live without the leave in conditioner as well. It’s seriously amazing! This mask is next on my list to try. My curls have been especially thirsty lately so I’m hoping that helps. You’re hair journey is amazing! Thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks babe! And yessss, the condish is wonderful. Have you tried their Edge Treatment? I don’t have issues with my edges but that looks promising, too!
I haven’t tried their edge control but I’ve head great things! I don’t really have issues with my edges either. If I need some hold or to tame some pieces, Eco Styler works just fine for me. 🙂
