I’ve got a small cut on my nose. If you saw me, you’d barely notice it. In fact, I forgot that it was there until I slathered face cream all over my face and felt the burn.
And then I laughed. I laughed because I remember how I got that cut.
My son. The wild little 10-month old that has been keeping me on my toes since his birth accidentally slashed my face as we were playing in bed after a nursing session. My friends warned me about boys.
“Girl. They’re rough. Brace yourself.”
“Baby boys love their mamas but they love HARD. Watch. You’ll see.”
But I ignored it all because….whatever. I was just happy to have a boy and he could be as rough as he wants with his mama. But seriously? I had no idea that at 10 months old he’d be clawing my face and pulling on my hair so much.
You’ve heard about postpartum hair loss, right? What they don’t tell you is that it ALSO comes from your wild child literally ripping hair out of your roots. Our Bub is rough and tough and I enjoy every bit of his being. And despite how rough and and tough he is, like his big sister, this guy also suffers from eczema.
I haaaaaate everything about dry, rough skin. We associate babies with super soft skin but sometimes the colder months bring itchy and inflamed skin, or super dry skin that isn’t so smooth. We’re pretty particular about the products that we use on our babies and their sensitive skin and I’m so glad that many companies are jumping on the “less is more” bandwagon.
Have you heard about the new JOHNSON’S ® HEAD-TO- TOE® extra moisturizing baby wash? It was designed to enrich baby’s sensitive skin, so you can enjoy the little wonders of bath time without the worry of dryness or irritation. The new HEAD-TO- TOE® extra moisturizing baby cream is specifically formulated to keep your baby’s skin soft and healthy from morning ‘til night! Both products are free of parabens, phthalates, soaps, or dyes so you can use them as part of your 2-step bath time routine, keeping your baby’s skin soft and moisturized for 24 hours, without having to worry!
And I know what you’re thinking.
“Seriously Brittany? Aren’t you one of those crunchy Moms who only uses all-natural everything on her kids?”
You know what kind of Mom I am?
The kind that will try anything to help bring her babies relief when their skin is working against them. Yes, I know coconut oil is king but it doesn’t work for everything and I was happy to give JOHNSON’S® HEAD-TO- TOE® extra moisturizing baby wash with the new extra moisturizing baby cream a whirl to see how my baby’s skin reacted to it.
My goodness…I am also happy to report that the extra moisturizing baby wash and cream is only mildly scented. And can we talk about how smooth Bub’s skin has been after his baths? While most of the soaps and washes we’ve been using on him have been drying his skin out, JOHNSON’S® HEAD-TO- TOE® extra moisturizing baby wash keeps that moisture in his skin long enough so that I can slather him down with cream, cream and more cream.
Getting slathered down is the only thing that keeps this rough guy still for a half a second. Both Esposo and I love giving him massages for a brief moment (usually about 42 seconds or so), he’s relaxed and we get the chance to bond with him in ways that will likely end the second we blink our eyes.
That’s the thing about raising tiny humans. Sometimes we’re so quick with wanting them to reach the next milestone that we forget to indulge in those special moments that involve just you and them. It took almost 4 years and 2 children to realize this but now whenever I sniff JOHNSON’S® HEAD-TO- TOE® extra moisturizing products, I’ll be reminded of my incredibly perfect rough and tough guy.
Do any smells remind you of the good ole’ days?
