Back in the day when I was fresh out of college, had juuuuust started Clumps of Mascara and was living in Los Angeles, I wanted to become a makeup artist. I was pretty obsessed about it. I stalked MAC Cosmetics and visited makeup counters regularly to make sure I knew about the newest trends. I took classes and studied techniques online. I lived in makeup chat rooms where I learned who the hottest makeup artists were and how to achieve certain looks. I decorated my face constantly.
My looks weren’t always good. Okay, most weren’t. One time I launched a challenge series called Politically Pretty with fellow beauty bloggers. The goal was to increase conversation and awareness in state and local politics as well as national politics. And this is what my Obama passionate self cranked out.
Pretty terrible. But the passion was there.
