So remember that time I ran Iron Girl last year? I’m doing it again!! The fantastic people for Iron Girl reached out to me to inquire if I was interested in attending the race and their inaugural Wellness Weekend and I was like, “Um…yeeeeah!”
I had an absolute blast running the Iron Girl 5K race last year. To date, it continues to be the BEST race of all of the 10 races that I ran in 2014. My dream was to be prepared for the half marathon but…I’m not. I am nowhere near in the shape I want to be and I haven’t even begun to start a training program. I’m a bit bummed out that I won’t be able to get that huge bling around my neck but I am still incredibly proud of myself for keeping up with running when I made the commitment to do so a year ago.
So yay for small victories, right?
My Black Girls Run group continues to be so so supportive and I am honored to be apart of such a strong and tight running community. Like last year, this year I’ll be road trippin’ with my girls Donna and Christine. I don’t know if I’m more excited for late night girl chatter and uninterrupted meals or finishing the race. Ha!
If you are in the area or don’t mind travel, plan to go to Iron Girl! When I tell you this is the most inspirational run that I’ve ever run, I’m not even kidding. I saw young ladies, older ladies, mamas pushing strollers, friends holding hands, mother/daughter teams, women of all shapes and sizes were walking, running and wogging their way to the finish line.
Register for either a 5K or half-marathon and if you get there the day before, you should check out the Wellness Weekend.

FTC Disclosure: I received an entry to this race in exchange for this post.
