I love everything about Lupita Nyong’o. I hope she never fades away and continues to be in the spotlight. Dark brown girls hardly ever grace magazines that aren’t Essence and Ebony and I just think these beauty and fashion magazines could use some diversity. So keep winning, Lupita, my love. Please. I love her so much that I’ve got her on my vision board. I just find her spirit, drive and success so inspiring…
Months ago I received a sample of Lancome’s Grandiose mascara and I put it to the test in early February. I don’t have many bad things to say about Lancome’s mascara. I think they are wonderful. I think they are consistently consistent when it comes to performance and I rarely have bad experiences with their mascaras. And this one?
Well…
…it didn’t disappoint!
Price: $32 at Nordstrom.
Packaging (brush wand): 5 out of 5
Overall: 4.5 out of 5
What It Claims: “This revolutionary, Swan Neck™ Wand Mascara provides exceptional length, lift, and volume to all lashes. ” (source)
The Truth: The big thing about this mascara is the wand. It has that swan neck thing going on and while it’s great, I don’t think it makes or breaks the mascara’s fantastic formula.
What I Loved About It: Like all Lancome mascaras, it’s just great. In helps lift the lashes and really brings them out there with one coat.
What I Didn’t Like: The formula will clump on you after awhile. In fact, by the third coat, I was in Spider Lashes zone. Granted, no one really needs 3 coats but no pushing it to the limit with this mascara.
Overall: What can I say other than…Lancome does it again! I know this mascara is far from new to the makeup world, but I’m just amazed at how one brand and time and time again give us fantastic mascaras. With one coat, the wand of this mascara will sweep through your lashes and generously deposit a much amount of product. You really do have to be careful with Grandiose because if you pack it on, even with the first coat, you may run into clumps. Slow and steady wins this perfect application race.
And as for the wand?
I mean, don’t get me wrong. It’s a fantastic wand. I tend to move my wand brushes around in all sorts of ankles so the Swan Neck doesn’t benefit me but I can see how it appeals to those who like to apply their mascaras the “traditional” way. But more important than the Swan Neck (I laugh every time I type that….) are the bristles. And those bristles are fierce, y’all. It’s as if they REALLY comb those lashes. I’m telling you…one coat of this stuff is really all you need to see a dramatic difference in your eye lashes.

Do I recommend it?: Absolutely! Chances are, if you’re a Lancome mascara lover, you’ve already scooped this up. And have fallen in love with it, too. Buy it NOW!
Have you tried this mascara yet? Whatcha think?
*This post contains an affiliate link and I received this mascara for review.
I have not tried this one before but I def will be on the look out for it now!
You got great results!
Wow! This one really works amazing on your lashes! I haven’t tried it but I might have to after this review. I love Lupita, too! I love her spirit and personality, but also my lord, she’s stunning. That pale aqua blue dress she rocked to the 2014 Oscars is still in the forefront of my mind as an all-time favorite look. Also, I need Michelle Obama’s haircut. NEED.
I love how thick and black your lashes look.
What a difference! I have had great luck with Lancôme Mascaras in the past. They are just wet enough and very black!
Hypnose Doll Eyes is my HG right now but I need to try this asap – amazing results! I love Lupita as well <3
Sometimes those higher end companies fail at making good mascaras, but I feel like with Lancome it’s one win after another.
Hmmm I like how it looks in one coat – doubt I’d go more than that.
Wow, it really makes a huge difference!
Two coats is perfect for you. I used to stick with Lancome only and this makes me remember why.
that wand is definitely interesting. lol I have been a huge fan of hypnose drama… so I’m not sure I would enjoy this one – but I would try it. 🙂
That wand looks weird, I doubt if it will give my lashes some vavava-vooom benefit.
too bad i don’t really use mascara anymore since i got my lashes extended
I ADORE this mascara! It’s spendy but it’s so good. The wand took a little getting used to and the formula has a bit of a learning curve but once you really get into it… Fabulosity. When I want to look as if I’m wearing false lashes without the bother, I apply a coat of Cils Booster, first. BAM!
Lots of curl!
I have been itching to try this! Its been in my Sephora cart for so long!
Wow! The results are pretty impressive! I need to try this soon
Yep! I definitely need to try this!
I love Lancome mascaras, but not the price–yikes!
Oh, gracious! Help me get over that price!!! Thanks for sharing, Doll!
I love thier mascaras 😀
Can I just please be Lupita for an hour? Anyway, def checking out the mascara too.. they always have great ones!
Lupita is a goddess. Plain and simple. She’s so amazing.
That curved wand is rather intriguing to me. I’ve never seen or experienced anything like that before in a mascara.
It does give great definition as far as a dramatic lash goes. Price wise it’s out of my range. I think I’ll stick with my L’oreal voluminous line.
