I’m too embarrassed to look back at when my last mascara review was. Like, so ashamed, y’all. Many of you found me because of my mascara reviews so at the very least, I should keep up with them, right? *snort* So while I can’t crank out a review each week, I’ll be shooting you at least 1 drugstore mascara review and 1 higher end mascara review a month. How’s that?
And if by chance I can give you more, then…heyyyyy!
A Maybelline mascara is up to bat in 2016 and it’s because good ole’ Mayb has been one of my favorite brands for years. I purchased this baby a good 2 months ago and well, eh…
Maybelline Volum’ Express Falsies
Push Up Drama Mascara
Price: $7.12 from Amazon
Packaging (brush wand): 5 out of 5
Overall: 2 out of 5
What I Loved About It: It’s got one of those fabulous wands that really combs the lashes out. Perfect for folx like me who have wonky lashes.
What I Didn’t Like: So while the wand is great at separating, what it isn’t good at is providing enough product on the lashes. Womp. Can’t win them all, babes.
Overall: Quick disclaimer! I am still tweaking my photo setup for how I’ll be showcasing mascara on my eyes. I’ve struggled with this for years (basically since I first started blogging, ha!) and we’re turning a corner. BUT – hang in there with me, pretty please.
I’ll keep this review quick and easy so you can go on about your day. You don’t need it. Nope, don’t need it. While the brush/wand is perfect for those who really like to get into those inner corner and comb out those pesky lashes, it just isn’t the best at coating the lashes. This is a common problem with wands like that and it’s the reason why I prefer wands that are on mascaras like UD’s Perversion.
But everything isn’t for everyone and that’s okay. I’ve looked around online and it looks like a lot of folx are having problems with this mascara. Aside from it not coating the lashes well, it actually does a great job at staying on all day.
I’m wearing on the right eye and you can barely see it, right? A good 2 coats was all I needed to really lift the lashes but it’s always good to see a mascara that can stand up for hours at a time. It almost acted like a waterproof mascara but came off so much easier.
Do I recommend it?: Nope. Maybelline has so many better mascaras. I love the packaging on this kid but it definitely isn’t a mascara that you need to run out and get.
No biggie. I’m not too bummed about this one because I know Maybelline will likely come out with something bigger and better. This mascara just didn’t cut it for me but hey…it happens! A Maybelline mascara that reallllly rocks? This one. It’s still one of my absolute favorites.
What mascara are you lovin’ these days?
