It’s National Hot Tea Month and let me tell you how much I love tea. Tea and I go way back. Okay, I’m not going to pretend that I’m some fancy little girl who grew up in a palace and drank tea during playdates. I didn’t really start getting into tea until college.
And it was a laxative tea.
Wasn’t expecting that, were you?
Heh! A few girlfriends and I had gotten caught up with some diet craze and at the end of each day you were supposed to drink a laxative tea. The tea was awful (but lemme tell you..effective as crap, girl. See what I did there?) but I really enjoyed ending each day with a warm beverage. And so the tea love started.
Like with anything, I got really particular about my tastes. I didn’t want just regular tea. I only wanted organic brands. I was picky about my leaves and ensuring that my bagged teas didn’t have artificial flavors. I only used raw and local honey. Yes, y’all…tea snobs exist and I am one of them. My favorite brand?
Numi.
I first stumbled across this brand when I was casually browsing Amazon. The high ratings lured me in and when I ordered their collection, I was hooked. I don’t know how Numi does it but the flavors they create rock my world. My favorites?
Honeybush
Toasted Rice
Malt Lemon
Chocolate Pu-erh
That last one sounds different, right? If you’ve never heard of pu-erh tea, simply put, it’s fermented tea. I consider it to be the black coffee of teas. But, oh how I love a piping hot mug of Chocolate Pu-erh tea. I miss it like you wouldn’t believe. I couldn’t indulge while pregnant and I’m too nervous about indulging while breastfeeding because uh…who needs a lively Bub at 4am?
But if I could encourage you to try any of their flavors, check out the Honeybush. It is my absolute favorite because it doesn’t require much. I usually go without honey in a cup of that tea because of its strong and delicious honey notes. And for Christmas, Esposo got me a Flowering Tea set.
The man gets mad points because I didn’t even know such a thing existed. But it has brought me great joy. Tea is everything, y’all. Long live tea. Where are my fellow tea lovers? I would love to know what brands you adore!

I usually drink tea at least twice a day. I like Bigelow and Mighty Leaf. I also like Kroger’s Private Selection brand. Earl Grey is my favorite. I also love fruit flavored black tea.
My husband is a big fan of Bigelow. But you know, I’ve never been able to get into Earl Gray. Not sure why!
