Summer is in full swing here in Florida and uh, we’re melting. Quite literally, actually. I’m a fan of this time of year, but it gets to the point where it is almost downright unbearable. But bear it, we must, because I’ve got a toddler who REALLY thrives being outside. Elle loves everything about the water and while we can’t always make it to the beach or pool, we’ve gotten her a huge inflatable pool that she can’t get enough of.
A few weeks back, we were sent some products from Acure Organics and LaVanilla and both have been absolutely instrumental in making sure that my babe’s skin is protected while playing in the sun and after playing in the sun. Have you heard of the brand Acure Organics? They just recently popped up on my radar, but parents of children may want to take a glance at them.
This mineral sunscreen is not only hypoallergenic, but it is also free of nano zinc oxide and the can is powered by air. Sweet, right? I’m picky about what I put on Elle’s eczema ridden skin so sun screens full of mess won’t touch her skin. Loaded with aloe, argan oil and safflower oil, this is one of few sun screens that actually doesn’t make dark skin look ghostly. Yay! It provides 80 minute water resistance and like clockwork, we re-up.
I also use the Baby Sun Screen on her. Ideal for much smaller babes, I love that Acure Organics has options for newborns and infants.
Slathering them in creams and sprays may not be a good idea, but this stick is perfect. Like the spray, it is fragrance-free but it isn’t as friendly on darker skin as you REALLY have to rub it in to ensure it doesn’t leave a white tint on skin. Despite that, it feels moisturizing and Elle enjoys getting this rubbed all over her face.
And then there’s post-activity skin. I’ve never dealt with a sunburn and neither has Elle but I believe in really moisturizing the skin after she’s been swimming in water for hours at a time. That’s where LaVanila’s Super Sensitive Body Butter comes in. You guys have heard about this brand, right?
Popular for their all-natural products, LaVanila is giving us a body butter whose first ingredient is water. Yes y’all! This is huge! Those of us with eczema need moisture on top of moisture and this butter gives it to us, baby! I found it to be a lot thinner than a true body butter (think of shea butter) but it is far from “watery”. It provides a nice and non-greasy feel to the skin while trapping that moisture in.
My only dislike? This is one VERY pricey body butter. Is it worth the price? Maybe. But my goodness, there are so many cheaper alternatives.
