Technically this is a July 2015 edition since August is still brand spanking new but roll with me on this one, okay? I feel like I am really becoming more of a lifestyle blogger because as much as I love all things beauty, it’s non-beauty things that are peaking my interest these days. Am I outgrowing beauty stuff, y’all? Naw, never that. I still geek out over makeup and lovingly pet the nail polishes in my collection. But come on – there’s so much more to life and I am HEREEEE for it.
Most of these pictures are coming from my Instagram stream so if you follow me there, sorry for the reposting of things you’ve already seen. You still love me though, right?
I love food. I’m grateful that I can actually eat it. The first 4 months of pregnancy means I pretty much die and don’t eat. In fact, smelling food makes me sick. Now that I’m over that hump, GIVE ME EVERYTHING. In moderation, of course. I’ve been fighting most cravings but then I give into quite a bit, too. I try to even it out by consuming my fair share of veggies and getting a good 90 oz of water down each day. It makes up for my forgetting to take my prenatal pills almost every day. Or so I hope. I’m also into food styling which is so random because who cares? Just eat! But noooo, when I go out or I’m preparing something, I’m thinking about the area and lighting and all kinds of effects. I could be a food blogger! Just kidding.
I’ve been into head wraps for many years but now I am down right obsessed. And I’ve pulled my poor child into the mix. We are both fanatic about head wraps. My hair is in this funky state where I’ve recently color-treated it and I’m starting to grow it out for locs. Styling takes A LOT of time and I’ve been lazy. Hence why I’ve purchased like 6 wraps in the past month. I love how quick they are to toss on and they funk up any outfit. And Elle? This girl will rock hers for hours. Impressive for a very rambunctious almost 3-year old.
I am not the domestic type. I am also a fan of supporting smaller businesses and when I’m too lazy to make something, I don’t mind spending the money to have someone else make it. Laziness, I guess you could call it. Lately, however, I’ve been whipping up all kinds of stuff. From the natural armpit detox and elderberry syrup, I am thisclose to making my own deodorant. In fact, I’ve got all of the ingredients except magnesium oil. This is exciting! Maybe I’ll actually start doing some really crafty stuff like the Pinterest moms do. Okay. Let’s not get carried away…
My work schedule is all kinds of strange these days. I’m going and coming but strangely enough, it has provided me a lot of time to just be still. I’ve been able to work from small cafes and coffee shops. My mornings aren’t so RUSH RUSH RUSH and I spend quite a bit of time in the car. Sometimes doing nothing. It’s wonderful. I should really make better use of that time and read but for now, I’m totally okay with being just…still.
What have you been loving so far this month?
