I’m a hot dang mess, y’all. My Makeup Wars sister are all like, “Let’s all get together and do posts highlighting Urban Decay’s newest palette.” And here’s me…
I don’t have that palette.
Somehow it got tucked behind a something, another something and a something else and before I knew it, the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics became a lost memory. This is life with kids, y’all. I stay frazzled and losing important things and I’m totally blaming them. But then rediscovering something you lost is like…the best feeling ever!
Can we rap about this palette a bit? Here are the deets…
- Goes for $54 and can be scooped up at Sephora.com.
- All of the shades are exclusive to the palette.
- Shadows are deliciously smooth neutral mattes.
- Shadows are paraben-free.
- Ideal for makeup wearers across the complexion spectrum.
I love love loooooved the Naked Basics palette. I’m just too old to be dealing with palettes with 2,124 different shades so to have a nice little selection of usable shades was just perfect for me. While a bit bigger (so not the kind of palette I’d travel with), I can definitely appreciate the offerings this palette has. And can we talk about how sexy the cover is?
I mean, come ooooon. How pretty is that? Urban Decay is always about taking you on a visual wonderland before you even open up the palettes and I’m here for it.
The Shades
Top Row
Blow, Nudie, Commando, Tempted, Instinct, Lethal
Bottom Row
Pre-Game, Extra Bitter, Faith, Lockout, Magnet, Blackjack
Okay, soooo…I’m pretty boring in the makeup department these days (eh…years) and I could really get by on the bottom row alone. Lockout (that shade that looks like chocolate milk) matches my skin perfectly and it makes for a gooooorgeous all over color. I used that on the lid, took that pretty terracotta called Extra Bitter in my outer-V, deepened the crease with Lethal and swept Tempted and Commando under the brow area.
Pretty decent, right? The best thing about these eyeshadows isn’t how diverse they are in terms of looks that you can crank out but girl…they blend SO easily. Admitally, I’m not always really good with blending. I’m either rushing or not paying enough attention but man…these practically foolproof. I’m not even kidding.
The not so good, thing? Because they’re so buttery smooth, you may really have to use a VERY good base to get that pigment to pop. Urban Decay’s Primer Potion wasn’t enough for me so I had to use NYX’s Milk pencil to really get some intensity.
But most days…I ain’t got time for all of that and UDPP is all I really need. And mascara. Mascara is good too except I forgot to wear it when I wore this look. Eeeek!
And that’s really all she wrote. No need to write a dissertation on a palette this good. I like it. You’ll like it. You should buy it.
The end. Check out how my Makeup Wars sisters are using their palette.

Ooh these colors are gorgeous on you! I would be super interested to try it. And I love how different we are, the colors that match your skin perfectly would have probably been my liner choices! It’s so fun to see how you do it. And no mascara? No worries! I couldn’t even tell!!

So I’m quite ashamed to say this but I have yet to try a Urban Decay palette and I know they’re amazing. The colors of this are great and it would be perfect for every day use so I’ll definitely have to try it.
