Emotionally, 2016 chewed me up and spit me up. ‘Til this day, I don’t know what it is that really sent me in an emotional whirlwind.
Okay, I do know. Life got crazy, y’all. It wasn’t just the second kid and the traveling husband. It was the insane weight gain, postpartum hormones, threenager bull crap and chronic sleep deprivation. I was regularly hanging on by a thread.
But yo girl made it to the other side. Battered and bruised but stronger. And so I’m thinking back to the aspects of my life that weren’t so messed up.
What did I have together?
What did I NOT screw up?
Lean in. I’m going to tell you. You ready?
My skin, girl. My skin was flawless in 2016.
I’m not even going to be modest about it. My skin did not look like how I felt. My skin was glowy and moisturized. It was blemish free and smooth and I literally didn’t have ONE bad skin day in all of 2016. I mean, maaaaybe a pimple or two. If that ain’t a win, I don’t know what is. Despite having a wonky 2016, I took much better care of my skin. I had a hardcore skincare routine that I stuck to and uh…it paid off!
By the way, I use THIRTEEN products. Don’t be judging me.
And nooooow Urban Decay has rolled up with these new (and some are new and improved) complexion products that are blowing my mind.
At first glance, they didn’t seem to be the kind of products that I actually needed. Because look, busy mamas ain’t got time for 1,104 different products to slather on the skin in the morning. Whatever. I make time.
I could re-invent the wheel and tell you about what each one of these do but this video covers it all.
Can we highlight which products I’m loving and will contribute to my skin’s fabulousity in 2017?
Urban Decay’s B6 B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Priming Spray ($31, here) was already a big deal to those who loved it. It’s popular, it works but UD didn’t have one fitting for us drier skinned people. Until now. Quick Fix has coconut water in it.
And that’s the most important nugget about it because all coconut everything WINS in my book but more importantly, it makes Quick Fix smell like an island vacation. Yes, the coconut water helps with hydrating the skin but I also get a quick transport to Maui at 6am. I’m grateful. While it’s great for prepping the skin, it can really be used whenever. Before bed? After a workout? Whatever floats yo yacht, girl.
I’ve never been a primer girl. Mainly because I’m lazy. And then I thought about it. It only takes a few seconds to slather primer on my skin. Soooo…what’s the big deal? Urban Decay has given us 4 of these and they’ll fit whatever skincare need you have. My favorite is the Urban Defense ($34, here) because being in Florida means I’m around a lot of sun.
I NEED that SPF. This has been replacing my beloved CoverFX Sunscreen because now I get the best of both worlds – a smooth palette AND SPF protection.
Listen. Are you listening? Setting your makeup is a game changer. I didn’t start doing this until last year. Some beauty blogger I am, right? Courtney of Phyrra put me on the All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray ($31, here) and I haven’t left.
And does it make sense to go through all of that skincare and makeup work just to have it ooze off of your face in the Florida sunshine? NOPE! So I’m a forever fan of All Nighter. I’m kinda digging the black bottle, too.
In conclusion, my skin will look even better in 2017.
I did a video showcasing these lovelies and now I’m cocktailing these three for optimum results. My skin looks better in my thirties than it did in my 20’s. Mama’s skin is winning, y’all!
Let me know if you give any of these products a whirl!
