So we introduced y’all to these babies on Instagram, but now the full review is here!
Wet ‘N Wild doesn’t disappoint when it comes to keeping up with the trends on a budget and these Velvet Matte Lip Pencils are no different! The name describes them so well. They are definitely matte as in no sheen or shine to them, but the velvety finish keeps them from being too drying. The formula almost reminds of Maybelline’s Matte Lipsticks, which I adore, so that was a win in my book.
I bought the colors Hickory Smoked (A363), Charred Cherry (A364), and Berry Tales (A366). Hickory Smoked and Charred Cherry ended up being my favs since I found them very easy to wear without needing to tweak them to look right on me. Berry Tales was too light for my taste, however, it is a pretty color and some of you ladies will be able to rock it fabulously!
I was able to wear these for about 3 hours before feeling the need to do a touch up due to eating and drinking. There is some transferring that occurs but it’s pretty minimal.
Before I get into the swatches, here is a picture of my natural lip color for reference!
First up is Charred Cherry… Isn’t she pretty?!
With the name “charred” I thought this might be a deeper red color but I’m getting more of a berry, fuchsia vibe.
Hickory Smoked is a beauty and reminds me of the Kylie Jenner lip color so many people love.
So if you’re into that look, this baby may be the one for you! I see this color and want to call it Cinnamon Apple! I love it!
Last but not least, Berry Tales!
It’s pretty but in keeping it real with y’all my first thought was Tyrone Biggums! Ha! So I wouldn’t wear it right from the tube without a liner to really make it pop on me. Also, make sure to exfoliate your lips before wearing this lighter color because it accents everything, and I didn’t find that to be true with the others.
For the price, these are great! Good color payoff, not too drying, and they look good on any skin tone. The only “negative” I can think of is to get that good color payoff, I did have to apply several layers. If you’re looking for some matte lippies that won’t bust your budget though or you’re just a lipstick addict like myself, these are a must!
